If you are interested in the ‘earth mix’ flooring and why it was there (and are in the Uk) check out Little Moreton Hall (National Trust). This quirky Tudor building is slowly being rescued and currently has an excellent view of one of these floors being replaced. Having seen a few of these on chateau programmes I enquired and am told were used as they were excellent fire retardants (important in wooden structures), sound insulators, were cheap to put in and incredibly light (like pumice). Oh and the one at the Hall had an egg white finish so it gleamed like polished white concrete!

This was absolutely fascinating! Thank you so much for taking us along on your amazing tour.
All these French Chateau’s are absolutely amazing! I realize in England children study French in school but I would feel really lost there.
I speak both Spanish and Portuguese, and so I can understand a lot of written French. Spoken is another thing altogether. I can manage minimally with my freshman year French in both Quebec (close to me) and in previous vacations in France. But I would never be able to order supplies, work with a crew, or navigate life in general. These English folks moving their whole lives over to France and working on these huge Chateau’s really have my respect.

Thank you so much for sharing this and I hope you’ll revisit these lovely people periodically to show us their progress. (Naturally, I’ve just subscribed to their RUclips channel).
The music at the end is exquisite and I’d be so happy if you or any of the other viewers could identify it for me, please. It’s so evocative and haunting that it brought back some precious long-ago memories.

God I am in love with that place that salon and dining room are going to be BEAUTIFUL ,they already are even in the state they are in but once restored it's going to be stunning the whole place will be if they keep all of the original detail and character, I cant stand how people remodel them and make them all modern and rip away all the craftsmanship and original detail ,so hopefully the restore it back to its former beauty and dont change it , cant wait to see it getting done ! If they need help they can fly me and my daughters over ,I'd work for free just to be able to live in a castle lol

I feel so sad thinking what would the people who built and loved this chateau would think seeing it in this state! It’s so fantastic that it will get restored! So much work but it looks like this gem is in good hands! 👍
