@@claudettemutch2906 I asked that awhile back, too. Never got an answer. He's a gem whoever he is. The whole family is a gold mine of talent. They seem to all complement each other really well.
I miss my daddy so VERY MUCH, each time I watch your dad working. My dad was a welder by trade but he loved to build. Michael hug your papa for me and tell him how much you love him. The Lord will in His time call me home and I will see my daddy again. Thank you Michael for sharing your family and life with us. Blessings to you all.
So sorry you miss him so. I miss my dad too but still have my 87 yr old mamma and I try and be greatful for each day now. Its hard. I also have my brother and best friend waiting beside my dad. I would be depressed if I did not believe in life after...don't know how some get by without belief in heaven.
Treasure these moments with your dad they are priceless. It’s wonderful you have such a great relationship and what a skilled man 👍🏻 and Shaun is too 👍🏻
Your family is very supportive of each other. ❤️ Your father is such a wonderful man, seems to be right in his element working away and helping his children.
I was just thinking what a precious blessing it will be to have his fathers handy work all around him to remember him by when he’s not with him anymore....
These videos of your dad working on the cottage will be priceless as you all age. I’m wondering if he’s able to work on his place and is anyone helping him or planning to help?
I asked & wonder the same thing about mom & dads apartment. Will they have the same amount of help? We care about all of the family. We've grown to love everyone. Much luv from Ohio
I love your dad, Mr. Petherick. So nice to know how much love Abd care your own dad has put in your home something to cherish for the rest of your life. Bless you all! Thank you all for having us in your life
Nothing better than dad teaching his son... How fortunate to have these memories with your dad. Will you be sharing dad's side of the cottage remodel also?
Nothing is more satisfying than watching a craftsman like your dad as he lets his many years of experience flow from his skilled hands-- all the while making it seem effortless. I could watch an entire video of nothing but him putting each old brick in its new place. I know his tongue was in his cheek, but it is indeed a work of art. It will live on as a lovely focal point in that room, telling it's story with many chapters. Good on you all!
Awe...Michael, your Dad IS a beautiful work of art! Maybe puppy should be given his middle name or something to honor him. I know Beatrix Potter is winning in names to tie her in, however, your Dad is way cooler! Makes me miss my Dad who passed 2 years ago. We built many things together. He was my hero. 😊❤
So many great quotes in here! "The block fairies took 'em," and "We built it with adjustment in mind." Great job on the fireproofing, so important! I hope you can find a cap or plug for the unused flu, so that rain doesn't run down into it and create damage or mold inside. It would have been fun to place a family photo inside the unused flu section on the upper floor before closing it in, but what a great job Mick did with those bricks. I could run a level line, hang a plumb bob, and still not get it as square and level as he did without any of those things! I also learned something (as usual from your videos!) - Vermiculite as a chimney insulation. Never heard of using it for that, and it's brilliant. It's looking really good, Micheal!
My family too and my daughter just married a bricklayer son who has a masonry company. They told me they were building a "shed" in the back if their property. I go see it, and its a darn brick garage. He started stacking brick and got carried away. Last week, I went to see the progress anx itz so big, his fishing boat is stored in the shed. Lol. I was expecting a wooden shed like we have to store our mowerz. Oh, not at a bricklayer house. No wood there 🧱
Yes, and it always amazes me how far they can go laterally without tipping over, especially when they were putting in the huge beam over the garden wall and into the cottage.
Congratulations, Michael! Your cottage is getting there, soon you'll have a place of your own. And some house it is!! Most of all, you're doing it all by yourself with the help of family and friends, make's it even more special. Respect!!
I don't understand the dislikes above. Kinda disturbing that anyone would be so rude. I love these videos - and admire how hard y'all are working to do what is obviously difficult and loving work to restore the cottage. I honestly look forward to each one. Keep them coming. Can't wait for the floorboards and the wood paneling - and that AGA cooker. Love it all! Happy Holidays from Texas to the Michael, Shawn and the entire Petherick family - especially little Ernest.
Forgive me if I say: It's about time! I discovered your channel a couple of months ago and have been watching back episodes until recently, when I caught up to real-time. I've been waiting for a new episode for what seems like too long. I do enjoy your tales immensely. Please keep at it. I have also become addicted to the other related, channels, (including Life of Ryan, as noted) but appreciate this one the most. Thanks
I'm so impressed with your Dad and his many skills and abilities. This job is so fascinating and it seems you're progressing well. Here's to meeting your Christmas deadline.
Love to see the progress!! Dad and Sean, both, have a terrific sense of humor. It’s a joy to watch them ply their trade! Michael, your lovely gardeners cottage has me entranced. I can’t wait to see the next installment. Hugs from sunny Arizona 💖😎💖
Just the word Meccano brings back memories of Christmas in England. Unwrapping those long boxes. Ryan is such a funny bloke. Love to see the progress being made, in a world of influencers and reality shows, these vlogs truly are a treasure.
The restoration of the cottages is really going to add to the charm and elegance of Chateau Bamaignee . Back to its heyday ! In my view exactly what Patreon is for ❤️
Beautiful Michael, it is wonderful that you are showing us step by step the progress on the cottage. Once you are all snug and living there, you will have all these memories stored up for you to look back on. Well Done, your family are amazing, how you all help each other tackling each step along the way.
It's lovely to see the progress you have all been making throughout the property. Absolutely wonderful job on the chimney inside and out! Definitely a work of art thanks to your dad and Sean. Your vision is all coming together Michael!
It's great to see how well you and your dad, Shawn and your brother work together. Congratulations on your progress. I can't wait to see how the AGA cooker works and see your video on cooking your Christmas meals for your family.
I love the work ethic of your dad and Sean! It is like watching my dad work who was a bricklayer and builder, but now happily retired but still always busy building something.
I would cap the unused chimney flue or it will collect massive amount of snow, ice,& water in the empty space, the damage it would do, do to expansion and contraction. Thank you soooo much for you blog & all the family & friends.😍
I love to see those lovely chimney pots on the roof. one of the nice features usually present in most English scenery. here in America, these pots are often used in both formal and informal flower gardens. they are generally prized architectural decoration. your cottage is really starting to take shape. i'm very much interested in your use of interior decoration.
🇨🇦❤️Thank you for this update. Michael! Every moment of progress increases the excitement and helps to bring the picture of what will be into better focus for us all. I’m glad that you don’t have to pay your Dad and Shaun what they’re worth because you’d never have enough money to finish the build! 😄❤️
This has been a complicated renovation taking many different skills. Sometimes I get lost when you're explaining things. The wood grid is new to me, taking a few inches off the size of the finished space, but gives area for insulation and something to nail the paneling to. It will be a wonderful day when you have your AGA working.
Sean is such a gem! Seems he is always in a good mood. A man of many talents. And Mr Petherick senior! I think he is that kind of man, which need to be tied on a chair to stop him. The December rose is lovely! It matches the beauty of the Gardener's Cottage and that stunning sunset! Fun watch the guys get every just so for the chimney and Aga.
