For me, the vandoren thin clear mouth pads come off or I bite through them within a week. I use the black thicker ones and they last for a very long time. I guess it depends on the player or even the mouthpiece.
+TONY FINNEY yeah. I have done some gigs where I don't have a place to wash my teeth. Plus I'm not too keen on keeping a toothbrush in there along with all the dirty tools and stuff. I'll just bring a toiletry bag.
I have quit using rubber bands and swapped them with thin hair bands. Rubber bands get brittle as they age and become unreliable. Also if you leave rubber bands too long on a brass instrument, they may "fuse" with the surface, and create a mess. It happened to me on a bare brass instrument, so lacquered or wood instruments may not behave this way. Great video!
+vpsaxman thanks for the tip on the hair bands. I haven't had that problem as I normally will take any issues to my repair guy ASAP but I can imagine it being a mess of its sits for too long. I think lacquered instruments should be fine. Thanks for watching!
Hey, I'm wanting to start sax and was wondering... why should I get a student sax over an intermediate? I understand that student is for beginners, but I want to know what makes student sax's more suited for beginners.
The biggest differences in Student and Intermediate saxophones are: The materials (brass) is usually a better (and more expensive) blend so it costs more. It is a bit bigger (in millimeters) so its able to play louder, and project better. They also come with more engraving and more decorative, and thats usually done by hand (which means it take more time = more money. As far as a good starting saxophone, I've found the P Mauriats to be way beyond the standard of saxophones. I'd recommend something like this. www.wwbw.com/P--Mauriat-PMSA-57GC-Intermediate-Alto-Saxophone-H94365-i2988544.wwbw The cost is less than some student models so you're getting a great quality horn without it having to be a student model. Let me know what you decide.
Alright, I'm wanting to do either the one you sent me, or this one: www.musiciansfriend.com/woodwinds/allora-vienna-series-intermediate-alto-saxophone Which would you recommend more?
Pedro when are you going to do a face reveal? Oops I was wearing sun glasses in a dark room this whole time. Through all of your videos this whole time.

Yes, the type of pressure you put on the mouthpiece and the shape of your teeth. :)
I might recommend a travel toothbrush and mouthwash. I always use before I play. Never had sticky pads
I don't have sticky pads (like 99.9% of the time, since I use Roo pads.) But, there is that chance and you always want to be prepared.
+Music By Pedro same pads I use. But it's just something I've done forever.

I've marched a two mile parade on Bari Sax without a harness/neckstrap. It was one of the worst things ever. lol
You're the real MVP man! :)
🙌 🙌
Same...except I had a harness that would only do anything when we had horns down.
Zachary Shepard Well, at least you had something.

Hey Pedro where can I buy some of that teflon powder?
+Adrian Hernandez let me get a link out to you. Stay tuned!
Thank you Pedro.
How do you wrap the rubber band s around the keys?
same way you'd wrap it around a pipe, just go down from the top of the body down.
