This was the album that made me discover Septicflesh and later made me explore and purchase almost their entire discography. Although I do prefer their albums from this one onwards and some of their earlier stuff ("Ophidian Wheel" is awesome, BTW), I still think "Sumerian Daemons" is their true pinnacle. A mix of their sound up until that point and the orchestral/classic elements that would be prominent years later. An underrated classic.
All Septic songs keep making me think about how good a metal song can be at slow tempo. Damn, again, a Septicflesh song with a slow tempo that sounds legendary, with simple and progressive yet effective and beautiful melody.
IDK man I like Dark River pretty well. if you listen to some of the ambience in this song it is actually present in that song as well, at the start of the song it almost sounds like metallic scraping or record scratching or something, it's in Dark River heavily at the start in throughout as well.

This is probably Septic's peak. Imo their Best album by far, combining all of their influences, talents. A very underrated album even today.
