Vitek (former drummer of Decapitated) was around 15 when they were recording Winds of Creation. I think the entire band was in their teens during that period. Anyone that is impressed by Mario’s drumming skills at his age of 16, would be blown away listening to Vitek’s drumming. If he hadn’t passed away at such a young age he’d easily be one of the top 10 best metal drummers right now.
It goes to show that passion for something and skill at something are two different things. Not to say gojira or decapitated weren't talented...it's very obvious that they were. I just mean there are people who are good at art and there are people who LOVE their art

80% of the clarity comes from playing super-tight which they were already capable. Saw them live at the time and it was spectacular how great they sounded even with crappy amps and guitars, even compared to more "seasoned" bands. They were already super impressive so it's not a surprise they got this far.

Pre-Gojira was good and a great Death-Metal Demo is such a great record a must-have for every death-metal aficionado sounds like Morbid Angel and Vader this is really good.
I love this album. And I genuinely love all their other albums too. I love how each album is a snapshot of each stage of their career. And I like this snapshot of a group of young men taking their first step and pursuing their passion. It brings joy.

I know it’s not THAT similar but this kind of reminds of the summoning redemption album from morbid angel because of the mid-range pace and vocals. Also possibly the negation album from decapitated but that has way faster double bass and blast beats

it's like guitars, the more you add, the more the track feels well produced. This is why Deathcore have been so popular the past 15 years (more so than death metal among the younger generations), abusing these techniques to achieve great production quality and very powerful vocals that can't really be reproduced on stage without backing vocals, unless you recruit 4 other vocalists in your band. Can't say I hate it though. Live and studio are 2 separate things worth enjoying for different reasons. Besides, some deathcore vocalists are actually insane on stage.

The Godzilla name isnt an American misinterpretation. It's the official English translation created by Toho for the American market
