    I filmed this video a long time ago back when stream light and Surefire were the top brands of lights. Now it’s Fenix. Go to Fenix.com which is the manufacturer and go to Fenix.store to purchase. It’s 20% off all lights now through Monday. The Fenix lights are 2-4 times brighter than all the stream light strion’s, stingers, even ultra stinger from a smaller package. The Fenix have tactical switching for instant strobe etc and are also rechargeable and cheaper on price than streamlight. Highly recommended. They just totally kill the stream lights in lumens, candela, beam distance, etc.

    I'm noticing on both this video and the video where you're showcasing the Stingers, the LEDs look warmer. Is that just the camera or do the Streamlight LEDs have a warm white color vs a cooler white color?

    Does your Strion DS HL get warm/hot when on high? I purchased the Strion DS HL because of your review.

      Rick Mahoney yes all the strions can get hot on high and it's totally normal. That's awesome you bought because of my review. How do you like it? Where did you purchase it from?

      It came in the mail yesterday, but so far I like it. It's definitely a powerful light. It lights up the building at the end of the alley (with city street lights) really well. I got it from optics planet. I like them and bright guy.

      Rick Mahoney I have a strion HL and it gets incredibly hot. And with no mode memory I'm very underwhelmed by the flashlight. I have a fenix TK20r and it is a far superior light for a much better price. Has mode memory, active temperature control, dual switch, USB rechargeable and is 1,000 lumens.

    Do you know if the stinger chargers will charge a strion light?

    • @djg1028
      @djg1028  7 лет назад +2

      Zackery Yochum no they are different. All stingers take the same charger and all strions take the same charger but the 2 are different size.

    Thanks for the informative video. This has kind of already been asked, but can you screw the HPL DS head onto a HL DS body? I have a HL DS and am wondering if I buy just the HPL head if I will have two flashlights in one.

    • @djg1028
      @djg1028  3 года назад +1

      No I don’t think so because the programming is also different. You will like the HPL much better than the HL. Shines much further. And for a smaller light I prefer the regular model over the HL as it shines further.

    Give me an honest opinion on the DS HL. Is it a good light? I can't decide if I want to buy it or not. I've heard reviews saying it doesn't seem as bright as it should be.

      Hero13 all the Strion's are great lights. It depends on what your using the Strion for to determine which Strion model is meant for you. They make 6 different Strion models total. You can get a lot of info from streamlight.com. The Strion HL models provide more of a flood beam but still have a center hot spot. As seen here the Strion HL is 500 lumens or 10,000 candle but the Strion Duel switch HL is 700 lumens or 12,000 candle with 219 meter beam distance and has longer runtimes on high and medium and low then the non Duel switch model. Of course the Strion DS HPL is 700 lumens with 44,000 candle with a very far reaching beam of 420 meters. Any questions feel free.

    Hey I know this is a old video but are you able to use the HL facecap with the HPL? I can't tell from photos if the threads are the same. I'd like to use the HPL with the smaller facecap so it can be pocketable.

    • @djg1028
      @djg1028  4 года назад

      Matt Reeh you cant. That’s what makes the HPL the HPL with the longer beam distance range is the larger head.

    what is the difference between the Strion DS HPL and the Strion HPL? Is it just the dual switch? Also, I can never get mine to strobe feature. I followed the instructions. It just cycles the levels of brightness but never strobes. thank you

    • @djg1028
      @djg1028  5 лет назад +1

      johnharlan100 there is more than just the dual switch difference. First answer, to use strobe on any of the stream light’s you do a double tap and press twice very fast. The Strion HPL is 7 inches long and the DS HPL is 7.56 inches long. The Dual switch model has an additional feature called ten tap programming which lets you program the switch to do 3 different selectable programs. The dual switch stinger and ultra stinger have that ability too. Which is nice so you can choose what level you want to come on with the presses. You can read more about it on streamlight.com. Also the HPL DS is brighter than the regular HPL on High only and has longer run times on medium and low... although they share the same battery and lens size it’s a different LED just for the dual switch, which is true on the stinger DS HPL model too. The strion DS LED is 700 lumens on high, 44,000 candle power, with 420 meter beam distance, 1.25 hour run time vs 615 lumens, 40,000 candle power, 400 meter distance, 1.25hrs on the Strion HPL. HPL DS on medium is 300 lumens, 268m, 18,000 candle, 3.5hr run time where as HPL is 320 lumens, 20,000 candle, 283 meters, runs 2.5 hours. Now low on the DS HPL is only 40 lumens, 102 meters, 2,600 candle, but will run for 24 hours. While the HPL on low is 160 lumens, 10,000 candle, 200m beam, and runs for 4.5 hours. So in a nutshell the dual switch is brighter on high with the same run time but not as bright on medium and low however programmed that way to give you a longer run time on medium and low.

      @@djg1028 Hi, Ive tried the fast double click on both switches. I get the light variable but can not get the strobe. Any suggestions? Thank you

    • @djg1028
      @djg1028  5 лет назад +1

      johnharlan100 ok so you have the dual switch Strion HPL? If the strobe doesn’t work when you double press fast.. that means that your light is currently set in one of the 3 different switch programs that doesn’t offer strobe. So you would have to switch it to one of the other programs.
