I can't help but marvel at your evaluation of bottom chest to chest half guard vs turtle with 1 hook in at 4:39... Doesn't it stand completely against your wrestling and mma intuitions?
That evaluation is me thinking at high levels of grappling. Bottom half guard is defensible and many times offensive. Giving a high level guy the back with one hook is defensible but usually leads to two hooks/body triangle and a finish or close to it. If I fought myself, I would roll out to recover guard and get up from there.
Blue shirt: sink your elbow in and go armpit to armpit with the underhook. It's better than just the grip. If you can't get the underhook, banana splits right there
