    Never heard Ude Gaeshi called a Tornado throe before.
    Second throw was basically a Korean seo nage.
    Both nicely demonstrated.
    He looks like a great coach.

      Was about to say the same ^^ thanks dude, BJJ rocks and Abreu is a monster but most of the time people forget that BJJ comes from Judo (Maeda) who also come from Jiu-Jitsu. Don't know how that work international but in France, Ude Gaeshi can be used to go to the ground but doesn't score points. So you can't win by ippon with it.

      @@albertolomeli6352 I pretty certain that you can do it in comp. I've been doing this throw since I started Judo bc it is very similar movement to arm spins I did in my wrestling days. Also arm locks are not illegal in judo. It where you do them is. If the throw fails you can flow into a version of waki gatame

    Love this throw , this throw was made famous by the founder of judo although he called it mountain storm
    He travelled Japan taking on all comers with this throw. It is very effective.
    I love practicing this throw . When I first saw it 22 years ago it blew my mind .
    It became very quickly the most popular throw among the blackbelts in my aikido club . I had nearly forgotten about it . I'm definitely going to bring it back . Sometimes techniques do not need to improve they are perfection.

    As a competing blue belt training 12 times a week this is the first throw that I rrally feel as doing. I've even had Tainan at the gym I train at (Atos Romania) and I really feel myself as a passador but I never use throws on opponents of the same level. I either wait for / bait them to pull guard or I pull and sweep but a guy at my gym did this to me a week ago, I looked it up and today I've succesfully done it 5 times on both people of lower and the same level. Still grinding but I love it.

      If you're learning Judo for self-defence, find an instructor who doesn't care about competition. Sport-Centric martial arts are great for "Realism" until they start banning "dangerous" techniques, which is patently unrealistic; in a real fight, literally no holds are barred, and as such, if you have the skill and the opportunity, something like Kani Bassani is extremely effective.

    Is this basically a gi armspin?

  • @kbuitienthinh
    @kbuitienthinh 6 лет назад +4

    Thank you so much for your video sir :D . I believe this is called ude gaeshi in judo (or a variation of it), arm srew or arm spin in wrestling. I have been searching and studying this particular technique. One problem i encounter with this technique is that: It can be done with such force and speed that can literally tear someone's arm out of his shoulder brutally. I am not making this up as I did see a guy doing this resulting in a broken arm. I really do not know how he could do that, but my instructors all hesitated to teach me this tech due to its extreme danger.
    So I hope you could explain to me why it is so dangerous like that? And how to mitigate its danger. I hope to put this to practice as soon as I can figure out how to do this tech without hurting some body.
    Again, thank you so much for your effort sir :D .

    • @felipe109598
      @felipe109598 6 лет назад

      What can probably help is to combine this take down practicing with lots of rolling over the shoulder. Aswell a technical falling so you and your train partners can get used to the move and prepare to hit the ground hard.

    • @anarchic_ramblings
      @anarchic_ramblings 6 лет назад

      Really it's called yoko wakare. 'Ude gaeshi' is really a kind of arm lock which is performed using this throw. But yeah.

    • @Bumrak
      @Bumrak 6 лет назад

      Eh... Can't any technique be performed with enough force and speed that they can cause injury? Was working it with my main training partner and yeah if I fought it with all my might, I would probably get injured.

      Northshore Carpet thank you for your answer :D . I did practice this with those i am confident in their rolling ability, but i have not dared trying this on real competition. I dont want to be called a**hole you know, still working on how to deliver this safely and still with beneficial results.

    Nice technique and very effective. Judo might be the origin of this technique but Japanese Ju Jitsu, Aikido, Hapkido, and all of their variances use this technique. Been around for a hundred or more years. I never been attacked by a violent thug on the street with a Gi so I use several types of hand traps to compensate and I never go to the ground because the thug always has buddies ready and willing to stomp on me. Once he is down, I just stomp on him while going for one of his buddies. His head and throat is always open to a heavy boot but there are always other places to break things. If your assailant has a weapon, be sure to take it away from him and use it against his buddies. That is the only fair thing to do. Never stick around for the cops because they like to arrest those who win and are not the thugs.
