    Loving going back through your catalogue of videos TMF. I recently bought a 2004 BMW R1200GS based on your tour videos and absolutely love it! Ive always loved your videos, but as time goes on, the more I realise that I value your opinion above any other "Moto vlogger". Thank you again for all of the entertaining and insightful content you put out.

    After more than four years of following the evolution of this bike, I finally bought it. It is the new version 2017 Euro 4, with detachable ABS. Right now, once the KLX 250 and WR250R are discontinued, it has no competition. It's what I expected and wanted, a bike light enough, and versatile, with better performance than the basic 125, and very little more weight. For me, the ideal motorbike for excursions and departures on tertiary roads and natural and rural environments. Anyway, regarding its reliability or if it is worth or not for other tours, ask Steph Jeavons or PeterLeonie, who have been around the world with this bike. Of series, I see two shortcomings little autonomy and little load capacity, but almost everything is correctable because the amount of auxiliary industry accessories for this bike is overwhelming. In short, very happy with her. I hope to have a lot of time, many routes and many experiences ...

    Woo hoo! Just ordered myself a CRF250L, and looking forward to some green laning. Was going for the Rally, but decided that was likely to get broken panels, so will put the savings into some Barkbusters, a nice bash plate and maybe a bigger tank. Thanks for the inspiration TMF.

    Why make it sound great? Is it a hi-fi, or a mbike?

  • @daveharrison1028

    Agreed, but when the good trails are a 80+ miles round- trip just to get there, a little bit of extra power helps reduce monotony.

    Great video,
    I got a 2016 CRF250L a couple months ago, I love the bike. I have done some mods, first thing was the tire's and back sprocket. I put a 46 tooth on the back and Pirelli MT16 tire's front and back, FMF Q4 exhaust system. I live in the foot hills of North Carolina we have a lot of hills and mountains to ride, I love my CRF250L there just great bike, riding red and happy.
    All the best to you And Merry Christmas,

    Was looking at the CRF 450 L, 30 LB lighter than the 250 L, but @ £9K.! and insurance not good.?
    I looked at a CRF 250 L, in FOWLERS of BRISTOL yesterday, and liked the feel of it.

    Great Review. Like the Blitzerman I'm looking for a commuter but wondering if I will soon lose interest in a tame 250. Yours is the first review I have watched that reassures me that the bike can grow with my needs.

    Thanks for the great video review, You prompted me to have a test ride and I'm hooked, just placed an order for my own. You mentioned the front tyre being a bit slippery, some other reviews I've read suggest swapping out the stock tyres for Michelin AC 10's. You can buy a pair on ebay for just £75 delivered.

      Yeah I've swapped mine out mow for a pair of Michelin T63'w - see >> ruclips.net/video/oAxXbu9MHdU/видео.html - Don't forget to do the mods, it transforms the bike! Enjoy - TMF

You'd love this little bike, great fun when you fancy a change from the norm - I've surprised myself how much I've ridden this rather than my other bikes.....go on, you know it makes sense!! The Crumble Good man!! I look forward to seeing some videos of your ride soon (PS don't be tempted to ride it before you've modded it if you don't want to be bitterly disappointed in its performance - out the box the little CRF is quite dullsville)....

    • @TheCrumble
      @TheCrumble 9 лет назад +1

      Thanks! Just bought some Rox bar risers to help with height issue and standing on pegs. Just looking into handguards now. Going to be using it with stock can for a while. Did the can make the most difference to the bike? Did you go for 8" or 10" bar pad? Sorry for all the questions but there's a myriad of options out there for every part!!

    • @TheMissendenFlyer
      @TheMissendenFlyer  9 лет назад +1

      The Crumble Yes, the can makes the biggest difference of all the mods - I did the FMF Q4 + Megabomb header at the same time and it transformed the bike, the air box, front 13T sprocket and EJK made marginal gains but the can is defo the one to do first in my opinion....just measured the bar pad, I squeezed on a 10".....enjoy!

    Another good Vid. I have no intention of getting an off roader, but it's still interesting to see how you are getting on with it and the reviews you do are well presented. Great info for anyone thinking about getting one. Did you fit the heated grips yourself? Would have been good to watch you fit them! Cheers.

      @TheMissendenFlyer  9 лет назад

      Hi Paul - Caught me out there, I got the heated grips fitted by the professionals (along with a 13T front sprocket and the hand guards - all too fiddly for my liking).... ;0) Thanks for your kind words, glad you enjoy the vids - all the best, TMF.

    Morning,a little question for you if ya don’t mind,on the road in standard trim what would this bike comfortably sit at 60,mph maybe ?cheers

    • @TheMissendenFlyer
      @TheMissendenFlyer  6 лет назад

      Yes - in standard form mine would touch 70mph if I tucked in....(not with a 20 stone person aboard though)...it's not a fast bike on the road by any means though...

    Hi - great review. I had the supermoto version of this bike (CRF250M) and loved it. Agree about the exhaust completely. I wondered if you'd considered crash protection? I had a low speed off on a roundabout and the bike was written-off. Point being - they don't crash too well and parts are more pricey than you'd expect. Subframe bends very easily.

    • @TheMissendenFlyer

    Would you use it to commute to work, 25 miles each way, mainly A roads? or would you say a scooter would be better suited? (i have a 675 daytona so something for speed isnt really a need)

    Hi, enjoyed all your videos, about to order a new CRF250L and want to do similar modifications to you. What is a good insurance company for these mods? I am similar age to you :) Also is there any preference on yoshimura Vs FMF exhaust that you chose?

    • @TheMissendenFlyer
      @TheMissendenFlyer  9 лет назад

      Hi Tom, thanks for your kind words, glad you've enjoyed my efforts. You will love the little CRF great little bike. As for insurance companies I can't really advise, my company ( I forget it's name) wouldn't insure me on a multi bike policy with it and I had to start a new policy along side, out of synch - annoyed about that as my "multi bike" policy apparently can only cover two bikes!! Let me know what you find..... As for the FMF v yoshi, all I can say is that 95% of the CRF riders I know online all go for the FMF.....enjoy your new toy and ride safe, all the best - TMF

    I'm very tempted. Are the mods absolutely necessary though? Is the bike capable of doing off road as standard?✊

    • @TheMissendenFlyer
      @TheMissendenFlyer  7 лет назад +1

      Oh yes it's capable off road as standard, it's just very feeble power wise and the mods make a lot of difference to the way the bike feels and go's....makes it much more fun. Great bike though and super easy to live with for the occasional off-roader like me....

    Hi Flyer, Good review. I bought one when they first came out in the UK and did all the mods you have done but ended up putting it back to standard, to be honest although i liked it at first the loud exhaust started to grate a little.
    I have started to like it even more since i got a ktm690 smc as now i seem appreciate it for what it is, i can have my mad half hour on the ktm then enjoy a steady ride on my CRF. For the cash they are hard to fault the only thing i can think of is the spokes corrode quite quick if you use as a all year commuter.

    You mention that it has dual overhead cam, hence there is less friction and longer service intervals.
    I own 2015 CRF250M...which is the same thing and I agree with the service intervals.
    What I don't understand is the relation of dual overhead cam to friction.
    Would you please be so kind and explain that thought...?
    Anyways...cool rewiev!

    • @TheMissendenFlyer

    what was the differentiate between the 250R and 250L pls elaborate,,

    • @TheMissendenFlyer
      @TheMissendenFlyer  8 лет назад +1

      +Ryan rehan 250R is a "proper" MX bike with service intervals measured in hours and big power, the 250L has a road engine in an MX frame allowing non-competitive off-roading but having 6000 mile+ service intervals.....at least that's my understanding without looking into it any further.....

    great review thanks. how would you think it would do as a fully off-road bike in motocross and forest trail environments? thanks

    • @TheMissendenFlyer
      @TheMissendenFlyer  7 лет назад

      Thanks - Forest trails no problem, as a competition motocrosser though it would be rubbish, the bike is not a hairy lairy off-roader, it is very low powered. Great for fun off-roading but not a serious contender against (for example) the KTM's of the world (or for that matter the other Honda CRFs).......

    • @Montrosion
      @Montrosion 7 лет назад

      TheMissendenFlyer thanks for that, I say motocross, really I just wanna show up at a local track pop round it and do a few jumps at mainly slow/moderate speeds off jumps with the few full throttle ones(if I'm feeling brave) off a jump kinda thing , not for racing and absolutely ragging it round full throttle constantly. thanks again.

    • @Montrosion
      @Montrosion 7 лет назад

      also, I'll be using it as a purely off road bike with no intention of road use, it appeals to me since its much lower maintainence and far cheaper to buy than the mx equivelant

    • @TheMissendenFlyer
      @TheMissendenFlyer  7 лет назад

      ....I think the rest of the field will eat you for breakfast if you turn up at an MX track with a CRF 250L - the whole point of the bike is it is road legal and good for road use as well as off-road - it looks like a "proper" dirt bike but at heart it's a road bike made to look like a dirt bike, not the other way around. Have you had a test ride??

    • @Montrosion
      @Montrosion 7 лет назад +1

      thanks for that, it really helps. I've not test ridden one yet, there's none near me at the moment. I just thought it might be a good compromise for a beginner as its about 3-4 grand cheaper than a proper mx bike. I'll have to save up some more pennies haha

      +Dave Harrison Thanks Dave - I don't know the actual figure - I expect it's in the order of 2 or 3 extra BHP (which is significant on a low power bike like this). All I can say is the bike felt much more powerful and was the best mod by far I've done on any bike I've ever had...ever!

      Good news mate :) As for the tires, I just meant Super Moto (SM) road tires, would make that little 250 into a hooligan machine. I think there are some SM tires that are ideal for dual sport, especially if you find yourself 80% on smaller roads and 20% totally off-road. www.advrider.com has some good threads if you are stuck for ideas. Cheers

    Most reviews about this bike that I've seen, say the opposite of wat you say. Like the bike being light and the seat being comfortable. It all depends on how you look at it. Heavy? for a motorcross bike=yes. For a street bike?No, f*cking light! I own the supermotard version and I'm very happy, the bike is really good, it's a keeper.

    • @thealvaco

      What I ment to say was that alot of people find the seat hard and the bike heavy, most likely because they compare it with a motorcrossbike. But you don't find it heavy and you like the seat. As do I. Sorry if I was not clear, English is not my native language.

I'm trying to decide what bike to move up from the xr200 and I know the xr400 is about 40lbs lighter than the crf250 but I have no wrench skills and living in a developing country going to have to order any parts from oversea's but if I want a 320lb bike I would probably just go with the ktm 690 enduro witch is exactly the same weight as the CRF250 and I wouldn't need any upgrades performance.

    I think you'll find that a lot of the "proper" motorcross bikes run dual overhead cams. Personally I think the only proper MX bike is a 2 stroke, so no argument there ;-)
    Additionally, you shouldn't modify the exhaust on an EFI bike without looking at your fueling as you will like create lean conditions and possibly damage the engine.
