The house and garden I have now does not suffer moss in winter, even after weeks of rain. Drainage is super even though I’m on clayish soil. The land the houses were built on used to be allotments so the land had years of cultivation. Also there are lots of mature trees, now my last house was terrible for drainage, moss everywhere. Also both front and back get sunlight even in winter.
I started a couple of years ago hollow core aerating and applying liquid iron at the end of November /early December and the results have been very good.
Up then down, then up next to line you went up on, then down next to the line you went down on creating your double stripe, down next to the up line then miss a stripe back up, then down the stripe you missed and so on
Ahh.. i got you thanks!! It was missing the stripe up that threw me!! Any chance you could do a video on seed at some point if you have time please?? We will all ( i'm assuming) be looking to overseed i the spring.. give us the low down on what to use/ avoid... just a thought!!👍
Grass will grow through the dead moss? Isn’t it like 8c there? I’m hovering around the same, am skeptical, but will give it a try. Thanks from PNW, USA.
Love the channel it’s give me inspiration to renovate my own lawn I turfed it 10years ago and now it’s full of meadow grass and weeds I was going to roundup it next week to kill it off and then rotavate it as it’s not level when you use a 70/30 mix of sand and soil can I just buy a few tons of normal building sand to mix with the soil that is already down to create the right mix keep the vids coming top man
DO NOT BUY BUILDING SAND!! Have you ever seen me rotovate? You will end up with a worse lawn than before as you will go into the seed bank which will have seeds in it from maybe 100 yrs ago who knows, also you cant recreate the compaction once rotavated , so the lawn is liable to sink, skim off the old lawn after roundup and bring in rootzone as i do in all my new seeding videos
Your right with it sinking when I levelled it 10years ago I got a mini digger in to dig it up and level the soil it has all sunk in large places the area is about 300sqm I was thinking of rotavating the high spots to put in the low spots instead of bringing more soil in
Have you ever used hot water to dissolve? I put half the water required in the tank as cold then mix the soluble iron it the other half hot. Breaks down a lot better and cleans through the lance without bunging up the filter at the nozzle end
hi Daniel ive had a bag of the iron sulphate to get rid of the mos, ive mixed it with water in my pump tank sprayed the lawn on Wednesday, Wednesday t time it had turned the moss brown. How long do I wait till I can scarify the moss and how long do I wait till I put on the galactic green??
@@DanielHibbertLawnExpert Thanks for the reply I've a feeling I will be scarifying a few time I normally get about 15 bin bags of moss out of yhe lawn so I can put the galactic in with the nxt spray do you think I should wait a week to remove the black moss from the first spray sech
Thank you. What I am doing is filling the sprayer with say 10l of water only. I spray this over the lawn and measure out as i is walk the exact number of meters of lawn covered with the sprayer. Say it came to 100 meters. I use 5 grams of Iron per meter of lawn to kill the moss. So taking 100x5 grams of iron I dissolve this in 10l water and I add this to the sprayer and spray this at the same speed as the water only test. I have found it very difficult to get this information on u tube..Hope this helps. If you have a better way please let me know. Thanks.
Hi Daniel, will the bullet chelated iron ( I got from pitchcare) do the same Job. I do have iron sulphate power but stopped using it last year as a friend suggested I use the liquid premixed chelated iron. Your advice on this would be much appreciated.B
Liquid more accurate and lawn sandhas about 3% nitrogen in so if you double dose you will have over lap and patchy lawn once the only lapped bits run out before the double fed, ill be bringing out my 11-5-5 + 8% granular in next week or so which coupled with my galactic green liquid iron it will be a great result
Hi, you say a liter per 400m2 of garden. But you are using a powder..what weight of iron sulphate are you using per 400m2 and what volume of water are you using also per 400m2. Nice video!
Thats why i said weight by volume , how ever much water it takes you to spray your lawns is what you would use, every one is different so if your lawn is 100m2 then id use 250 iron so again thats just thenpowder poured into the 250 line in th litre jug
OMG. No safety glasses, or safety shield, no hard hat, no ear defenders, no taped off area in the garden, how on earth have you survived. Great vid, thanks.

@@bobbelsekwol lawn sand not great as the n content is not spread accurately, its good at first but when it runs out then you can see where you have double dosed
Yes full tank is what it takes , its the product that does the work not the tank size, the tank size just allows you to spray over the desired area, if the lawn had been twice as big if of done two identical tanks not walk twice as fast with the one tank this would mean you was only going on at half rate
Great video
Yes i enjoyed that one
Thanks Dan from a fellow Gardner in Oldham.Your videos are very informative and help by raising the standard of gardening. Wish you continued success.
Another great video well explained mate keep up the fantastic work
Your a good man Dan keep the videos coming it's only a matter of time until we hit 50k

Yep

Well you should of mixed the galactic in with it really for best results, then the nitrogen would of kicked in on the grass side of things,
