    Good stuff 👍 but don’t forget it’s soil temperature not air temperature that dictates if the grass will grow so I doubt a few days over 10 degrees will make much difference

    Great video. Glad what you said at the end about your lawn looking bad and its only Feb. Mine is just off the scale poor and i've spent so much money and time all last year trying to get that perfect lawn. I dont know whether i can recover mine it looks that bad. This weekend im installing a french drain like you did. Roll on spring!!

      That's exactly how I feel about my back lawn! I went back and looked at some of videos from March/April time the other day to remind myself that it will bounce back! 🤣

    Mow my lawn. Can't even walk on mine. It's totally saturated. So much rain here in Wales. And no sign of it stopping.

    Mate, that lawn looks awesome for Feb.
    Mine is so full of AMG this year I’ve just killed it off and reseeding with 100% dwarf rye.
    Glad to see someone who is giving practical advice to have a nice lawn on a normal budget. As you say, you could be laying down loads of high end products but not everyone has the time or the money to do so.
    Keep up the great content

      Nice one! 👍🏻
      There’s a lot of jargon out there. The typical UK lawn is not often what you see in some videos! I just try and keep things as normal as possible.

    Front lawn looking sweet mate. I think 90% of the country has a back lawn in a state at the moment 😅 crazy some people are talking about seeding now!

    Good to hear someone advising not too spend a fortune on lawncare chemicals this time of year. Perhaps spray any weeds now to clear for overseeding in couple months

    • @NoviceGardener
      @NoviceGardener  4 месяца назад

      I did consider this, but thought against it as there are only a small number of weeds at the moment. Will manually pull them over the next few weeks.

    Generally good, sound, no nonsense advice. But regarding temperatures. It's not the air temperatures you need to concern yourself about. It's the ground temperature. Even if we get three or four days of warm-ish temperatures that usually won't be enough to warm the ground sufficiently at this time of year and germination won't take place.

    • @NoviceGardener
      @NoviceGardener  4 месяца назад

      Ground temps are key. When we have a few days of decent temps, the soil temp get which enough for some growth, but not a lot.

    The back yard doesn’t matter so long as it’s not visible from the street. The front yard is the showpiece and so should always be squared away.

    My biggest problem at the minute is how much rain we have had. Squelches just walking across it so don't dare get the big heavy mower on it at the minute

    Can you put weedkiller down at this time of the year, I've got quiet a lot of clover?

    • @NoviceGardener
      @NoviceGardener  4 месяца назад +2

      Some people do, but I don't usually just because the weeds aren't actively growing much. I'd usually wait until it gets warmer.

    Hi buddy, how is the battery life going on the Hawk? Just got a 36 push which came with a Hayter 2.5 and spare 2.5 Toro battery. Looking up it seems to be the American version [same specs], anyone else received Toro’s?

    • @NoviceGardener
      @NoviceGardener  4 месяца назад

      Toro battery is the exact same as far as I know. It’s done the job so far, although I do kind of wish I’d have gone for the bigger one. But you having a spare will come in handy!

    Cut the grass! No chance! So wet underfoot would need the AA to come and tow the mower out. It needs cutting desperately!!
