Apple probably did that to keep the price point of the iPod Touch 7 low.
TrickyPJM i was thinking that they undercloked it because the battery on the ipod is much smaller than the one on the iphone 7 and 7 plus. But price is most likely a reason as well

Good review. I loooove my iPod touch as a secondary device. To watch videos while I’m multitasking on the phone. Easier to carry around than an iPad mini.

iPod Touch 2nd Gen was my introduction to the Apple ecosystem and the first computing/ communication device of my own. I think having a super cheap super simple device that runs iOS is still relevant and is great for kids and teenagers.

For quite some time I’ve been wanting to get the seventh generation so I got it. It only took me a couple days to realize that the battery did not charge at all I took it to the Apple Store and had to get it looked at about four times in the same week. They sent me a new one for free only for me to find out it also had problems the screen would shut off whatever it wanted and it would take hours for the battery to drain and work again and just keep doing that. I am now waiting to get my third iPod in a different colour from the company site let’s hope the 3rd works

My memory with the ipod touch is when I first bought the 2nd generation ipod touch in early 2009. At the time, it was state of the art compared to regular ipods, ipod nanos, and what I had before that which was the original Zune 30 gb from 2006.

Have a Mac on Mac OS Catalina. Download Xcode from the App Store onto the Mac. After that you can download the IPSW of iOS 13 for the XS and connect your phone to your Mac. Once it’s connected, go to finder, click on your phone and where it says “check for update” hold option then click it and select the ipsw file you saved earlier. It’ll then update to iOS 13 for ya. I’ve been running it since Tuesday and I love it! Dark mode is fantastic.

I think I’m gonna get the ipod. For $200 i can have an extra iOS device to go running with and bring to places where I’d be less likely to take my iPhone. Put more music on it, use it when i let my phone charge, etc.

I feel like something about digital sound suddenly changed universally.
Multiple different kinds of wired and wireless headphones, on multiple different Apple mobile devices (iPhones and iPads*), have very quiet volume. It has to be up to 5-below-max to be as loud as it all used to be at 5-above-max. I thought I was going deaf but then I had someone else listen and they realized the same thing. Unless we’re both going deaf haha but they don’t listen to a lot of music or anything so I don’t think so

I noticed my PowerBeats 3 weren't as loud as my AirPods. But if you go into the equalizer, you can set it to Late Night and it's a bit louder and it doesn't sacrifice sound quality or clarity !!

I haven’t even gotten to watch the video, and I just had an epic brainstorm of an idea!!! They should take the beats Pro headphones wireless headphones and that big ungodly case, and use some of the space in that to house the internals of an iPod so that you could play your music right from the case into your headphones! Control completely via voice command and touch response to the headphones!

Matt Fullerton but an iPhone 6 is unusable in 2019. Ipod 7 is equivalent to the iPhone 7 so to be fair the iPod is kinda the better option just kinda
iPhone 6 is not supported by iOS 13 and plagued with manufacturing defects. I would suggest either the iPhone 6S or iPhone SE.
They are fast but battery is terrible. My friends upgraded their 6s to android phones or the newer iphones and call you a poor little poopy head for having a IPhone SE or 6s.
I wonder if they can upgrade the iPod touch to Bluetooth 5.0 through software 🤔
