Like you, I started doing this over 40 years ago. A teenager in love with Mopars. My first car was a '70 Charger I bought from the original owner in '81. I now own a '68 Plymouth GTX with a 505 stroker. It's good to see someone your age working on these machines of the past. You're learning a valuable skill. I also live in Portland. S.E.
I love the sound of the old Mopar starter... friends used to give me the business about its signature sound.... but then would put their money on my car in most races.
Great to see younger Americans working on the old American Muscle, good luck with your car, it's very cool. Never sell your Charger, keep it in the family, what a dad you have. AMERICA!
Dampen the area around where the battery leaked, once wet sprinkle with baking soda to neutralize the acid, rinse it down thoroughly then wash with Dawn and rinse again. Hopefully you'll catch it in time before it starts to rust the metal!
At first, I absolutely freaking hated the red wheels, but once you started to back the Charger out of the driveway, I remembered why 68-70 Chargers are the greatest looking muscle car ever. Thank you for re-invigorating me, into wanting to work on my 1970 Charger, we dubbed Jezebel. Oh I almost forgot, I fell in love with the red wheels as soon as it hit the street. Great video man, keep up the great work, oh and make sure to secure your battery down, that could have been bad.
Don't paint it, rub it down with Penetrol. Don't sell it.! I did the whole new interior, headliner. new vinyl top then antiqued the top to make it look as old as the 331 paint . Nothing Cooler, good on you.
YOU HAVE TO JACK THE CAR UP AND GET THE FRONT WHEELS OFF THE GROUND ROTATE THE STEERING WHEEL SLOWLY LEFT TO RIGHT WITH CAP OFF TO EVACUATE ALL THE AIR IN THE SYSTEM !! GOOD-LUCK !!!!
If you don't keep working on the rebuild of your car you will find that the work you have already carried out will deteriorate and need further attention. Take your time doing things, pay attention to detail and use finesse doing all things and you will find that at completion of your MOPAR build every minute and each dollar spent was worth it.
Mechanic kid your awesome at what you do keep up the good work love your channel I'm glad I'm a subscriber lol
Comments like these are what keep me goin🙏🏼 Thanks Aaron!

That’s awesome! When I get it up and running we’ll have to meet up and go on a cruise🤟🏼
@@Mechanic_kid we can meet for coffee some early morning.
19 years old learing to fix cars with my 72 El Camino. Cool to see another young dude into classics

Will do that thanks!
Everytime you hit that starter it reminds me of my Dart 318 I put a 4 speed in. Chain drive starter..
My first car was a 68charger with a 318 and it had 316 thousand miles on it and I wish I still had it❤
This is what you should be driving my man. Don't let it go haha.
I really like 1968 dodge charger R/T.
Your Father is a smart man buying that car ! Rusty or not , it is a '68 charger ! Good video !
Nice car, one of my favorites !
Thanks, Peter! New video out shortly. Just finishing up the 440 swap. Stay tuned🤟🏼

Appreciate it Scott🙏🏼 Just subbed to your channel🤟🏼 Looking forward to seeing more of your Charger as well
I really injoy watching young people messing with old cars, my son and I both have 1968 dodge chargers.
Even in not so good condition these cars are worth HUGE money nowadays, you should be able to repair the battery case, plastic weld it!
Great car young man ! My neighbor had one just like that in high school back in 1979 . Keep working on it 👍

I think the red wheels give the Charger a nascar/stock car look. It looks cool. Nice work young man.
Such a beautiful car !
Such a cool car! Excited to see the journey, be careful with those batteries though hahaha!
Nice work. I'm kinda in the same situation with my 68 charger. I need to get mines up and running also after I finish the bodywork
Hard to find motivation with big projects! But these mopars deserve to be seen on the road🤟🏼

Bare-bones '68 in 1968 didn't even have Power Steering...
Glad you got it running, but is there a better sound than a Mopar starter when the car is cranking?
hose and clean the engine bay down try getting off that battery acid , cause it will rust the metal
I need you to be my Mechanic!!
Nice inside view. Would love to see a side view of inside too while you’re cranking ☺️
Keep the outside and inside like colored and dirty like and the mechanic stuff in mint condition :)

Pick up the correct upper radiator hose next time you’re at the parts store… that one looks a little crimped because it’s too short.
Take it easy on the ether,it will pop a hole in the piston.
And get your battery retainers
I destroyed the battery in my 68 charger that same way, fell on the manifold and leaked everywhere
I thought It was about to explode lol
CHECK THE TIMING FIRST , THEN ADJUST YOUR IDLE AND MIXTURE !!!!
Drain the tank and put in fresh gas, should be ok.
How bout some old fashion gasoline
Magnum 500s
Wash that battery acid off the frame.
You want to sell it let me know.
It actually runs like a bag of shit. You have a signifcant amount of loss of power. Also a noise in the rear.
Hey, thanks Jay! I replaced the bag of shit with a 440👍🏼
That Car Sucks!
