it was actually reviled today that they don't have the trademark to Spectra anymore. However mh has lost trademarks before and still made stuff with the lost trademark characters so. They even lost Frankie's at one point. So to me there is hope she will return still.
It feels like they switched lagoonas and deaculauras personality... lagoona lost her charm, her kindness, her maturity and strong lovley character vibes and got to be the querky extremly colourfull, naive and joyfull character (like the best friend in disney movies) and Draculaura lost her charm, her accent, her joy and outstanding personality and it seems like she is now a inteovert with a lot of secrets...

Except with the first reboot they gave the dolls non-alt clothes, generic barbie faces, and extremely cheap fabric. Whilst with this reboot you can see they put work into it. Yes, it looks more cutesy and childish than the original, but that doesn't mean it's poorly done.

A big thing that bothers me now is that Draculaura has been retconned again. Movie version is Filipino yet the upcoming cartoon she's Taiwanese. Mattel is treating Asians as all being the same and many Filipinos were happy to have a character. Now they don't.
Finally someone giving respectful opinions and not hating on it all just because it's different 😭 The fandom has really became a dumpster of fire lately, this is such a breeze of fresh air. And I agree that this Lagoona is even prettier than the original! As I said, people are only hating because she changed a lot. They are too busy throwing critiques to realize this design is not even ugly at all.
The Monster High fandom has been toxic both in English and Latin American... it is not the first time nor will it be the last. Both those who are against and in favor of the reboot don't tolerate each other. It is nothing new. And it really sucks.
I kind of dislike Lagoona's new design because I'm not sure how pink supposed to make me think about the ocean but I do admit that they are not ugly at all. It would much more sense if they just develop a new a storyline around the children of the previous Monster High (gen 1), that had some potential.
I rlly wish they'd do more creeproductions of old dolls lines cuz i would LOVE to continue my doll collection with perfectly in package dolls than dolls off of ebay that most of the time have smth missing or cost a lot if they r in good condition
Definitely agree. There are some pieces I really like that stands out with this version of the brand, but unfortunately there are a little too many things that I also don’t like. I’ll still check it out from curiosity and hope for the best with the new generation, but thus far I’m getting the feeling that gen 3 isn’t for me. Lagoona’s voice actress reviving hate messages is upsetting and unwarranted: she isn’t in charge of the design or writing of the character. Hope all is going well for you!

I caved and watched the movie early and I gotta say, Frankie's various looks in the movie are way better than this promo pic and I actually really liked them, they're very punk but still preppy.
I do like the new Lagoona in animated form. I think it didn't translate well to live-action. Frankie's look is hideous in both though; especially the hair in animated form. I like the new pronouns for them as people often change their pronouns later in life when they finally realize who they are. So that's cool. Clawdeen's glasses are also awful. Definitely need better frames! The outfits in the live action are very plain and dull. Probably a side effect of a low budget but come ON. This is a fashion doll line. Show us some fashion! Disappointing that they changed Headmistress Bloodgood's race instead of making a new Headmistress. I find that SO lazy. I suppose it's good that we do have characters that don't have to be defined by their race so they can be easily swapped to another but to me it just feels like ticking a box instead of actually caring about POC to make good POC characters. As if POC don't deserve to have their own original characters so they can have "leftover" white ones. Especially since she's now black...why can't we have an Indigenous headmistress? Or Asian? Pacific Islander or Aboriginal Australian? Latina, even? Nope, the classic "slap on paint" black. Sigh. Uninspired and boring. I'll give the new series a chance but I'll be keeping my expectations low. There's a "cheap and lazy" vibe that's not promising.

To be honest...I actually really like them, they seriously have been growing on me a lot. Especially Draculaura, Frankie and Headmaster Bloodgood's designs. Though admittedly I feel like it's looking more Spooky Cute than the Freaky Fabulous theming of the OG Monster High series and look, I get that this is a reboot (And I'm actually looking forward to this new series more than the TV Movie TBH) but I still wanna see more of the OG's charm go over into this new reboot as much as the next fan, but I'm honestly fine with bringing in a new generation of Monster High Fans and that some fans are just trying to hate on this reboot for no good reason other than nostalgia I guess. And to be honest...I think G2 is still the worse of the 2 reboot's in my opinion at least.

TBH I am really looking forward with this re-boot I would of preferred the revival of the OG any time, but I do understand why they did this change and who their are target audience is for. I would preferred to make them look more edgy, but that's just me. As for everything else in G3, "Am I going to like everything in this re-boot" No I'm not, "But am I going to give it a chance" Yes, and so far I'm not been disappointed on what I'm seeing & I'm still looking forward to it. At the end of the day there's nothing much we can do all we can do is just wait until the Movie/Animated Show officially comes out & just move forward.

It's not that the designs are bad but they keep trying to reboot the same characters we know and love. they changes there back story, personality, esthetic, just everything to where there completely new monsters but with the same name. They could have done so much more and made new characters instead. But no its easier to have a cash grab and use the old ones. Thats why die heart fans are upset. MH had like at least 50 characters, they can make new ones, but they continue to mess up our favorite characters. That's why fans are mad MH wasn't broken but they keep trying to fix it.
Frankies design had to be changed due to copyright, monster high used to collab with universal pictures which owns the rights to green frankenstein with neck bolts and due to them partnering with nickeloden and paramount+ for gen 3, frankie had to not have green skin and neck bolts

i mean i like that they're changing up the brand to appeal to another generation and i can imagine if my little neighbors got off their ipads and phones and played with the new rebooted dolls they'd love it, the quality and details of the clothing would be something they'd like, and i feel Monster High makes people accept people who are different then what they consider normal, Also one of the main reasons that Monster High had to reboot in 2016/2017 was because parents were not happy with how creepy and alternative the dolls were, and they were getting tons of complaints and they just remade the dolls hoping to please the parents, but they slowly failed because no one liked the the reboot. I think they're taking inspo from Pinterest because some of those outfits and hair styles are ones you'd find on Pinterest. I think they're trying to please the younger generations rather then the older fans. (Also there is this fanart the voice actor? for the new lagoona posted on her insta (im not sure if its still up) of the original lagoona talking with the new lagoona, comforting her and telling her everything will be okay and that people will love her)
I think people just need to get it through their heads that not everything in life is about them, Mattel is trying to target the new generation which into brighter, more out there aesthetics unlike the generation that was present during 2010 which was more into emo/gothic/punk aesthetics. If people don't like it then that's ok, "IT IS NOT MEANT FOR THEM." They need to stop gatekeeping and understand that things change and if we all had an open mind about it, we wouldn't feel so uncomfortable with it. For all I know, they haven't made any mistake in reguard to race, gender, nor sexuality so there is no reason to cancel this new Monster High. The dolls seem to have great quality and if people are worried that they look nothing like the original characters nor their personality......that's because it's a reboot. Needless to say I am going to grow with the brand and welcome it with open arms. I am very excited about Lagoona (for her new design and race representation since she is now from the gulf of Mexico this making her latina coded) and Deuce (for his design and his backstory, like if you don't know yet he will have 2 moms)

My personal opinion is that because I've been a long time fan, (Since monster high came out) seeing such a HUGE change feels weird, as I'm used to the originals. I'm used to their voices, their personalities, their styles. I don't like the reboot at all, but I can understand why people do, and I can respect that. They've just changed WAY to much for my personal liking. I feel it would of just been better if they said the originals graduated, and they introduced a new cast, OR EVEN had the new cast be the children of the originals. I wouldn't have been AS bothered. But that's my opinion, and I will say, it does feel fresh hearing your prospective. I'm interested as to how this will all go.
I know that this might not be the best movie we ever seen, but let's give this reboot a chance. besides, mh actually are/were listening to fans all along. remember the 1st reboot? (that was even worse). i can see what you mean with wanting the original dolls/lines back, but i think something important to note is that the gen1 characters and dolls will ALWAYS be here for us :) the reboot doesn't delete them from existence. I really appreciate how accepting you are, I've seen so much useless negative energy over it, and some people online just seem downright racist. I’m not sure that I will like it. To me draculaura doesn’t have the right personality or voice. At least from what I’ve seen. The young lady playing her just doesn’t seem to portray her innocence and adorable ways. Draculaura is my favorite monster high character, so I’m pretty particular about her. Frankie is my second favorite my character, and I don’t think this version of her is right either. Clawdeen is really cute, and I think I may like the way she is portrayed. As to Lagoona, 😬. I just don’t know. She seems like an entirely different person. I am willing to give it a chance, but I have pretty big reservations

i mean i like that they're changing up the brand to appeal to another generation and i can imagine if my little neighbors got off their ipads and phones and played with the new rebooted dolls they'd love it, the quality and details of the clothing would be something they'd like, and i feel Monster High makes people accept people who are different then what they consider normal, Also one of the main reasons that Monster High had to reboot in 2016/2017 was because parents were not happy with how creepy and alternative the dolls were, and they were getting tons of complaints and they just remade the dolls hoping to please the parents, but they slowly failed because no one liked the the reboot. I think they're taking inspo from Pinterest because some of those outfits and hair styles are ones you'd find on Pinterest. I think they're trying to please the younger generations rather then the older fans. (Also there is this fanart the voice actor? for the new lagoona posted on her insta (im not sure if its still up) of the original lagoona talking with the new lagoona, comforting her and telling her everything will be okay and that people will love her)
I think they did a good enough job with the redesigns, I'm keeping an open mid but I'm still confused why draculaura is into witchcraft.
But I will say this all draculaura’s designs in the live action new animated show and the dolls I have yet to be disappointed by her

I think people just need to get it through their heads that not everything in life is about them, Mattel is trying to target the new generation which into brighter, more out there aesthetics unlike the generation that was present during 2010 which was more into emo/gothic/punk aesthetics. If people don't like it then that's ok, "IT IS NOT MEANT FOR THEM." They need to stop gatekeeping and understand that things change and if we all had an open mind about it, we wouldn't feel so uncomfortable with it. For all I know, they haven't made any mistake in reguard to race, gender, nor sexuality so there is no reason to cancel this new Monster High. The dolls seem to have great quality and if people are worried that they look nothing like the original characters nor their personality......that's because it's a reboot. Needless to say I am going to grow with the brand and welcome it with open arms. I am very excited about Lagoona (for her new design and race representation since she is now from the gulf of Mexico this making her latina coded) and Deuce (for his design and his backstory, like if you don't know yet he will have 2 moms)

My personal opinion is that because I've been a long time fan, (Since monster high came out) seeing such a HUGE change feels weird, as I'm used to the originals. I'm used to their voices, their personalities, their styles. I don't like the reboot at all, but I can understand why people do, and I can respect that. They've just changed WAY to much for my personal liking. I feel it would of just been better if they said the originals graduated, and they introduced a new cast, OR EVEN had the new cast be the children of the originals. I wouldn't have been AS bothered. But that's my opinion, and I will say, it does feel fresh hearing your prospective. I'm interested as to how this will all go.
I know that this might not be the best movie we ever seen, but let's give this reboot a chance.

Mh fans needs to make up their mind, they're the ones who requested a reboot , well, reboots are definitely going to include new changes. and if Mattel wants to do that , they have their reasons.
In mh we stop hate, not the other way around. (besides , the movie might actually be better than we thought)

I love to finally see some positivity about the new MH generation! I'm personally rlly excited about the live action movie and imo the designs are great and I don't understand why live action Lagoona gets so much hate cause she is soooo pretty!!! Now the animated series is less exciting bcs I'm not a huge fan of the character looks, but I'll definitely give it a shot!!! And I rlly hope they release dolls of the live action movie 😁, cause I need that Lagoona!

i can see what you mean with wanting the original dolls/lines back, but i think something important to note is that the gen1 characters and dolls will ALWAYS be here for us :) the reboot doesn't delete them from existence. I really appreciate how accepting you are, I've seen so much useless negative energy over it, and some people online just seem downright racist. (I've seen people say they made Cleo too dark... like WHAT?)

I’m not sure that I will like it. To me draculaura doesn’t have the right personality or voice. At least from what I’ve seen. The young lady playing her just doesn’t seem to portray her innocence and adorable ways. Draculaura is my favorite monster high character, so I’m pretty particular about her. Frankie is my second favorite my character, and I don’t think this version of her is right either. Clawdeen is really cute, and I think I may like the way she is portrayed. As to Lagoona, 😬. I just don’t know. She seems like an entirely different person. I am willing to give it a chance, but I have pretty big reservations

Why is everyone so disapproving of her glasses, like as someone who has to wear glasses i love it so much that they gave clawdeen of all people glasses because glasses aren't a flaw they don't make u ugly and less desirable
As someone who also wears glasses, Clawdeen wearing glasses is a 0/10. It just doesn't look good on her and if they're supposed to be prescription glasses- it contradicts the whole point that Clawdeen has exceptional vision + heightened senses.
