    First timer here (for boat and floor repair) I have used your videos to clear out my floor and now fiber glassing - it's like going to boat repair school for free! Thank you for being so detail oriented - I appreciate the help! [saved me so much money doing the work myself with a lot of help from my friends]

    You’ve given me the confidence to redo a boat a buddy gave me with a cut out transom. I was thinking of taking it to a shop to get repaired, closest one is 3 hrs away. I’m to tackle it myself now. Thanks!

    Dude, you’d be amazed on how much towels big hotel chains throw away. I use the snot out of the ones I get for free on my boat projects. I usually get a big garbage bag full, what’s really nice is they are washed before being thrown away.

    Something to try forthe air space under the foam.....use a strip of the fiberglass cloth 6 inches wide by the length of the compartment.....use 2 inch masking tape fasten the edges to the stringer and the hull the foam won't go thru the cloth and will leave a nice opening for the water to drain

    Very informative videos, haven't seen them all yet.
    Did you at any point make a video that lists or dictates the brands/approximate prices and locations where you got supplies/epoxies/fiberglass/silica/ gelcoat/etc, etc? Really strong work.

    Looks like the goal for Memorial Day is not going to be met. I can't wait to see how you make the motor mounts. I was wondering how you will make sure the output shaft will remain straight. Nice job so far.

    did you use the 435 Standard Polyester Layup Resin or the 404 Tooling Polyester Resin-Isophthalic?

    • @FerretyWeasel
      @FerretyWeasel 5 лет назад

      I believe he used the 435. I've followed this series in rebuilding my boat and I am using the 435. It is one step up in price from the "EB" cheap stuff, which you don't want since it might have wax as he says

    Is that polyester resin from LBI, their 301 unwaxed orthothalic poly? I'm looking at that resin for my project and it is $125 a pail. I'm steering clear of "non-spec" resins since they can contain wax

    I know this is not a new video, but I see you responded just a couple of months ago,...
    Why would you fill it with foam again, is it for strength? Or is it the float if filled with water thing?

    • @FriscoBoatersGarage
      @FriscoBoatersGarage  6 лет назад +1

      christopherkise it’s per coast guard regulation. It to keep the boat somewhat afloat if you are swamped.

    Can you give me that peanut butter recipe... cabisol, chop resin... can't quite get the right consistancy until it's too late....

  • @joeaccordion

    Should have used epoxy resin

    • @FriscoBoatersGarage
      @FriscoBoatersGarage  6 лет назад +3

      That's your opinion. There have been many studies and its just like the Ford vs Chevy argument. There are pros and cons of each. For the cost Poly is a good option. Epoxy can be very hard to work for a beginner. Thamnks for your feedback.
