I have to admit, when I saw the introduction for this blanket my first thought was “no way could I ever do something like that.” I was taking 2 weeks vacation to travel to Texas to help take care of my mom who has Alzheimer’s, so I made the decision to give it a try. What did I have to loose, I could always use the yarn for other projects, so I purchased the yarn, loaded my car and headed to Texas. There is no internet access at my parents house, so the yarn stayed in the car. Yesterday I took the plunge, printed the 10 page pattern, grabbed my bag of yarn, and got started. Best decision I have ever made. I can do this and it’s not hard. You are a wonderful teacher! I will try more projects from now on. Thanks.

That lecture at the beginning is very important because as Mikey said, once you understand the concept, it’ll be easier to do “less frogging, more hooking”! Love it. I don't know how but on the first row of what would be purple on the zigzag section I've got an extra stitch at the end!
I've covered and recounted and still can't figure out where I went wrong

      I made it work
I didn't get the graphs like in the video and it's all good now

@@susanvanvleck3957 I have had the same issue. Ended up with 3 sc and an extra MC stitch. What did you do to fix this if you don't mind me asking so that I can continue?

      Same here. I have 148 stitches across. I sc 3, chain 2 skip 1, sc 1, chain 2 skip 1. That repeat is a total of 6 stitches. Which is 144, plus the final 3sc... 147 😒

I am having this issue as well. Did you sc the last 2 stitches together, or have 4 sc at the end?

Actually, nvm. The pattern says there should be 4 sc at the end of row 3

So I understand. You are thinking of doing words using the mosaic technique? I don't think I have ever seen that done. Will be neat if you can figure it out.

I am glad I watched this video for the offset squares section. Looking at the pattern at the end it says to repeat rows 3-6, but looking at the chart that bracket with 8 Row repeat confused me

I understand. this concept in traditional crochet diagram format is a bit hard. However, I struggle with the fill in the box diagram ones too. Hopefully you can work it out.

Interesting how many questions in the comments are answered in the video itself. Some people are not really watching. I like to read comments because sometimes there are useful ones. I try to answer a few but a lot are simply not doing the due diligence.

Hi Mike, I have seen several videos where they use another mosaic technique. They work on one side. The sc goes in the back loop and the dc goes in the front loop from the row below. They switch colors every row. You will have a lot of loose ends, but you can hide them by making a double border or 'just' tuck them in. I really love these patterns you are working with, but would it be possible to make this in the other way of mosaic crocheting? Or can I find a description how to work these patterns in the other way?
I have made some projects from your account and it's easy to follow. So thank you!

Question!!! I am using 4 colors. Entrance to 1set bottom design, then main pattern for same 2 colors. entrance for 2nd colors next simple design, then main pattern. Problem!! I want 2 of each set of patterns. the 3rd set of patterns would be same as 1st set of patterns but opposite color layout. same with 2nd set.. does this seem possible? I believe so but I don't know to compile layout sheet, like you have shown(put together your self. How would I tape the sections together, so I don't go insane? You re so super helpful, I'm counting on you. I am making this for someone who has been so helpful to my grandchildren, since our income is not really sufficient. God bless you. If you can't understand or help me please just let me know and, of course I will try to do the same thing with another one of your patterns with video.

Hey Mikey, I have a question to ask you
I want to make this beautiful mosaic Afghan but, I would like to make a king size bed, could you please tell the starting chain stitches.
Thank you so much for sharing your God given talent with the world for everyone to learn. One more question, do I have to variegated yarn for this pattern

I’m not Mikey but I’m making the blanket as well, and I would just say that you definitely can. Based on what I saw the gauge was you’d need a chain about 317 stitches to get a little over 76 inches wide. You probably would also need to extend some of the pattern for the length.
That’s if you match the gauge of 12 sitches/4imches in the mosaic stitch pattern.
As for variegated, don’t see why that’s absolutely necessary. It’s just a nice piece of contrast to break things up. I am using slightly different colors and yarn. Be careful though, I realized the hard way that a pound ball of Caron yarn is much thicker than a pound of lion brand and that def changed the guage.
