It's time for another drum pad only cover, so this time, I'm using the KORG MPS-10 to recreate the drum track on the epic Electro / Folk / Soul tune RIVER by by British singer / songwriter BISHOP BRIGGS. It's been released back in 2016 as the second single of her debut album CHURCH OF SCARS. It was able to enter the Top 10 of three different Billboard Charts, and even reached number one on the Spotify US Viral 50. Also, it got featured in the second season of the SCREAM TV show (which I highly recommend as a huge fan of the whole Scream franchise). U.S. mega star P!NK also used to cover this song live on her 'Beautiful Trauma' world tour. Because of its hip-hop-influenced beats and many different sounds, it occurred to me, that playing this song on a sample pad would probably the best choice, and I'd even prefer doing so in a live situation. This way, you could go to the front of the stage and really connect to the audience while hammering these powerful beats right into the crowd.

Sarah Grace McLaughlin… AKA Bishop Briggs. I just happen to know quite a few of her songs because my favorite DJ Mark plays her music quite often. R. V., I hope you have checked out her other songs… White Flag, Champion, The Way I Do, Wild Horses, Jekyll & Hide etc. She sounds very soulful. Absolutely love her voice. Awesome KORG MPS-10. That’s a really good question. The secret is to use the right amount of energy, so they won’t actually cut through the material. Also, my drum pads are made of Beskar, so that’s helping a lot as well. 😉👍🥁
