You're an awesome teacher. And you are a man of faith . Seven years ago I was lost when it come to playing but between the lords blessing and your teaching I'm going places thank you and God bless
Curse words have entered our vernacular for a reason. It's because it carries a level of frustration and anger that is not expressed properly otherwise. To each their own, however. Thank you for the lesson.
Sometimes foul language is needed for punctuation. I use it around my kids and they’d be the first to help you when your stranded on the road. There’s better issues to address right now. Many…
Great teacher. I would argue that his language his what makes the song so strong. Curse words have a function in language and we shouldn't try to get rid of them. They add emphasis, emotion, and sincerity. Still though, I think your a great teacher dude
In honor of Zach Bryan’s new album coming out, could you do a tutorial on Driving By ZB? I cant find a good tutorial of my favorite song and I know you could do it perfectly!
For those here for the tutorial, just know this is a basic approximation, and if you're OK with that then enjoy. But these is not the exact voicings Oliver Anthony is using. And, no, the same message can NOT be conveyed without the specific language he used, and this is coming from someone otherwise sympathetic to that position.
Yep. Definitely not the way it’s played. He needs to keep his churchy ways to his churchy songs. Stop suckholing about a swear in a song. If you don’t like it. Don’t listen and don’t teach the song.
I like the song too. I get your point about the language. But sometimes ya gotta cuss to get a point across. The song wouldn’t have the same sucker punch otherwise in my opinion. Funny thing is I live north of Richmond, Virginia in the Washington, DC area. This song echoes my sentiments. By the way … I’m Andrew. Fun fact … I work in the service industry as a concierge at an apartment building.
The language in this song is very mild coming from someone in the UK. Sometimes you need words like this to deliver the intended impact. Its a brillaint song gotta say.
Thanks man can't believe how simple it is. However, the language thats why most people resonate. we all cuss like that when we are truly hurting. I feel like it brings a very personal touch. I like what your trying to do though I'm not bashing I actually think nits a good idea to swear less.. Still they definitely put across how tired he is. I bet he doesn't swear much in conversation.
They just ran 10k small business owners including mine out of business with overburdensome california style regulation barrage in Oklahoma. States full of neocons. Hence forth learning this song
Hey, are these not the same chords as your Purple Rain video? And, don’t worry about what others might say. You brought it up the right way. That song is great but because of his choice to use those 2 words (I get it, for emphasis) it’s got to be edited for those with tender ears. Great Work 👍
please answer this man, you say boom (pluck) boom boom boom boom, which would be pluck, down, up, down, up, but then when you actually say it its pluck, down, down, up, pluck, down. The strumming pattern has me confused and it might be because I dont know guitar well and how people count, let me know man.
great tutorial but have to disagree with your stance on language, the curse words really punctuate and emote the feeling of anger and despair. This is how people really feel so it really hits home
Clean language isn’t what got our forefathers this land in the name of Jesus Christ established with a rod of IRON, The song uses those words that you call “bad” I don’t think he lost his influence for GOD by using if anything he gained a lot of influence by using them and now he’s reading Bible to them
Great lesson but think it’s pretty lame you would trash the way he writes his songs bc of the language you don’t appreciate. Don’t listen to it and don’t cover it if his lyrics offend you. Don’t cut him down for his lyrics to his song. And don’t preach on what you feel is correct. Here to learn the song not what you think about bad language. Keep that for church when others want to hear it.
@@CountrySongTeacher Dude. You are the one that needs to lighten up. You didn’t just say you can’t play it for your kids. You said they can get their point of across without those lyrics. Don’t think it’s right you try and give your input on a song they wrote. Keep your mouth shut about someone else’s song if you’re going to teach how to play it. If it bothers you, don’t teach the song. Pick another song that you don’t have to complain about the lyrics. God bless. lol

This song is what most of us feel like and want to say
Right
Sometimes foul language is needed for punctuation. I use it around my kids and they’d be the first to help you when your stranded on the road. There’s better issues to address right now. Many…
I hope it's not. Most of it is nonsense and the parts that aren't arrive at the completely wrong conclusions
You won me over by your standing on cussing❤❤ your 100% correct, i love that beautiful spirit! Keep up the positivity
Proud to say Oliver Anthony is from my Hometown !! Thanks for the lesson !!
That's awesome!
love that you keep your tutorials clean!!

Its ironic he says he hates when artists do that because some even more sensitive people say you shouldn't use the word hate lol.
Exactly I think its weak and pathetic ppl are saying he should drop the language. The whole point of the message as you stated. Why water it down.
I would agree, however, the apostle Peter when he was denying Christ cursed to separate himself from Jesus.
@@budder2970to love the Lord is to hate evil
I agree. As Billy Connolly said, “go away” is absolutely no substitute for “FUCK OFF!”
Best song of all time
I enjoy these vids Mr. Matt and also enjoy your Christian based messages! Keep it coming! God love ya!
Thanks so much!
This song should be the #1 campfire song all guitar players must whip out.
If you're afraid of the language, you're not in the fight.
Thanks for this I’m learning guitar and have guitar class at school so this is something I can show my teacher
You're the best Matt.
Great tutorial! Thanks Matt, you helped me get started on my guitar journey!
It would be great if he played the actual chords. Not sum c add 9 Christian chords 😂💀
Thanks for teaching songs like this! Also that’s a beautiful guitar 000-18? Love it! Thanks for all you do.
this is a blueridge guitar! thanks for reaching out!
Great song, theres no such thing as bad words. Only bad intentions.
Awesome
Love your content bro I used to have a tough time singing and playing at the same time until I watched you a few years back
Yeehaw
Love the song it’s great
Just found your account, I love your vibe and the positivity man. Definitely my go to channel for songs now.
Great tutorial! I appreciate you taking the language out of it in the lesson.
Great lesson! Thanks 🙏🏼
I knew you would do this one! Thank you ❤
Great tutorial! I just got your Timeless Tunes Songbook! Any chance you could do an “Out Last Night” by Kenny Chesney tutorial?
thank you!!! I'll check out that song for sure!
Oh I was waiting for you to teach it.
You miss-sang the "BULLSHIT PAY" part... Love to you Matty Mack! Always great vids.
hahha
Any tips for learning when missing half a middle finger on the left hand? It’s really been kicking my tail.

I feel like a good song that you could do would be Pitchin Fits by Drayton Farley
Where's the hammer-ons?
Thanks much:) Subbed:)
Hey man can you PLEASE play and sing this song as a full, clean version? My daughter loves singing this song but she stops at the curse words.
i hear ya!

Hi Matt! could u please do EVERLASTING COUNTRY by Ryan Upchurch?
Hay mate, question, do you know why the song is played with capo on 3rd feet but the video by Oliver has the capo on 5th or 6th feet ?
he just sang it a full step higher.
Hey, are these not the same chords as your Purple Rain video? And, don’t worry about what others might say. You brought it up the right way. That song is great but because of his choice to use those 2 words (I get it, for emphasis) it’s got to be edited for those with tender ears. Great Work 👍
thanks for watching!
can you pls tell me what the strumming pattern is cause I can't figure it out
Is this whole song charted out on your website?
No, just my songbooks and courses
Anybody know where I can find this TAB I'm one of those....
The language is what makes it man. You did great though
Capo on the 5th fret in his video??
He’s tuned down whole step in his video
Do you know any other chords?
👌🏼I like word changes. 💯agree.
It’s pretty funny that you flip a bird when you change his lyrics :)
hahahaah so funny! Good catch!
When it comes to the givernment don’t hold back cussing’.Always let them know.
Why is his capo on the 5th?
Oliver is tuned down whole step in his video
the funny thing is most people that like this song are 300 lb and 5'3" short
haha the catch!
You look a bit like Max Verstappen the F1 champion
I am very sure he has it in a different tuning.

Good video but I hate people talking that have gum in their mouth. 😢
Hot take this guy sang it better
Let’s go!
I love what he said about the language. Love the song but I have to hit the mute button. My whole family wants a clean version, we’re baptists.
Yeah the song needs that language it sounds odd and emotionless without it
NO...He is from Virginia!
It's the way he says "Richmon" instead of Richmond.
Clean language isn’t what got our forefathers this land in the name of Jesus Christ established with a rod of IRON, The song uses those words that you call “bad” I don’t think he lost his influence for GOD by using if anything he gained a lot of influence by using them and now he’s reading Bible to them
Jeeez brother.....talk slower. I had to watch 3x and finally gave up and put on the captions
haha dude you're so right!! i've tried to work on that! Thanks for pointing that out! I appreciate the feedback
@@CountrySongTeacher I understand your excitement:)
This isnt how he plays it though
The first thing is oliver plays on a resonator, so that'll cause a major sound difference, and this is to get you close.

That sounds awful
Bro ain’t even playing it right 💀😂😂
Good lesson, but poor form to make a criticism of the artists work. Your judgement was much uglier than the curse word in the song.
Come on sing the correct lyrics!
Em Cadd9 G D. It is easy to play but it’s is a bluegrass picking style. Not just strumming
And he's playing a dobro !
Ur not using ur pinky on the D, it's the essence of the song,,,,,,
That's oasis, not Oliver Anthony.
