I think that line has 3 different meanings to be taken from it. 1- Miners, not minors on an island 2- Miners, not miners on an Island 3- Minors, not minors on an island
I am all teared up... And i am not even American, I am Greek living in the Netherlands, this guy touched my soul, we are also selling our souls in this part of the world. Great song, GREAT VOICE...
Out of the ten richest counties in the US five are around DC. Four in Virginia and one in Maryland. That tells me our public servants are living much better that the rest of our country. We’ve been sold out to foreign countries and corporations. Enough is enough.
Yeah people are always talking about rich business men but I care waaay more about rich politicians that became crazy wealthy while they are supposedly career public servants.

Gentlemen, welcome to authentic, real, raw, Appalachian Blues. Sung by an authentic Scotch-Irish Appalachian boy. Appalachian Blues like Bluegrass has it's roots in Irish folk music and Mississippi Delta blues. Just a factory worker and tradesman a few weeks ago, writing songs and singing in the woods with his dogs. THIS is the REAL DEAL. Enjoy.
Thank you for sharing that.. it's educational - i love to learn especially utmost when it's about what God/Jesus teaches. I see Appalachian folk make clear it's not country music, it's Appalachian folk music.
@@RemnantDiscipleLazzaro-Rev1217 Yes. "Appalachia Blues" officially, but given the Irish influence is absolutely a form of folk music!! Oliver is a classic example of a descendant of the Scotch Irish people who when they found Appalachia settled there as it reminded them so much of home: The hills/mountains of Northern Ireland.

Well, Politicians didnt lookout for the minors Epstein island either, or they wouldnt have sealed and hidden away the list of elites in Epsteins black book.
First time I heard this song I cried. We're small business owners who worked from morning till night every day...only to have everything we sacrificed for taken in the name of taxes and fairness. Our health insurance went from $300 a month to $1650 with less coverage. And our taxes and fee's were increased constantly. They don't want us to survive anymore. Corporations get all the benefits and protection from the people we voted into office.
exactly. i been stating...stay independent, like Tom MacDonald, so you do not sell your spirit and soul to the Devil fortune and fame... he needs to stay where he is meaning do not change his lifestyle because it is exactly that which gave him the raw passion, heart, emotion, spirit and soul to make the music he does, you change that recipe then you change the whole thing.
@@RemnantDiscipleLazzaro-Rev1217 Tom McDonald's is a pandering clown. He is just taking advantage of the gullible cult. Oliver is making honest music.
This isn't just a song, it's an anthem for all the people being stepped on and forgotten about in Middle America. People are fed up, and this song perfectly demonstrates how we feel.
Middle America is just the tip, the rest of us are under the foot of tyranny in the west, battles will be fought but the war will be won by the people!
I've been binge-watching your channel. And what might surprise you is that I'm a 62-year-old white woman from the burbs. You guys crack me up. And you prove how much we actually have in common-not all divided up based on our color, gender, age, etc. What unites us is if we have common beliefs, no matter the other stuff.

@livinglife4835 yes, but she had to step out of her bluegrass roots and do pop country to get anywhere. Don't get me wrong, I love her pop country, it's just nice to see bluegrass getting some mainstream respect.
I hope this brings a change to Nashville and the California pop bs is permanently excised from county music I gave up on country music when cmt started allowing bs like without me in there shows .
The other day me and my girlfriend were out at dinner, and a guy on a motorcycle rode through dowtown on a motorcyle blasting this song. We both js looked at eachother an smiled, it really is the people's anthem. You could feel it, everyone there knew the song.
Oliver was 30 days sober when he did this video ,one night he dropped to his knees and asked God to help him get over his drinking problem and depression. (A local paper interviewed him) Now look at him all i can say is God is good and I wish this guy the best of luck. Latest statement by Oliver(Chris) Anthony---It's been difficult as I browse through the 50,000+ messages and emails I've received in the last week. The stories that have been shared paint a brutally honest picture. Suicide, addiction, unemployment, anxiety and depression, hopelessness and the list goes on. Im sitting in such a weird place in my life right now. I never wanted to be a full time musician, much less sit at the top of the iTunes charts. Draven from RadioWv and I filmed these tunes on my land with the hope that it may hit 300k views. I still don't quite believe what has went on since we uploaded that. It's just strange to me. People in the music industry give me blank stares when I brush off 8 million dollar offers. I don't want 6 tour buses, 15 tractor trailers and a jet. I don't want to play stadium shows, I don't want to be in the spotlight. I wrote the music I wrote because I was suffering with mental health and depression. These songs have connected with millions of people on such a deep level because they're being sung by someone feeling the words in the very moment they were being sung. No editing, no agent, no bullshit. Just some idiot and his guitar. The style of music that we should have never gotten away from in the first place. So that being said, I have never taken the time to tell you who I actually am. Here's a formal introduction: My legal name is Christopher Anthony Lunsford. My grandfather was Oliver Anthony, and "Oliver Anthony Music" is a dedication not only to him, but 1930's Appalachia where he was born and raised. Dirt floors, seven kids, hard times. At this point, I'll gladly go by Oliver because everyone knows me as such. But my friends and family still call me Chris. You can decide for yourself, either is fine. In 2010, I dropped out of high school at age 17. I have a GED from Spruce Pine, NC. I worked multiple plant jobs in Western NC, my last being at the paper mill in McDowell county. I worked 3rd shift, 6 days a week for $14.50 an hour in a living hell. In 2013, I had a bad fall at work and fractured my skull. It forced me to move back home to Virginia. Due to complications from the injury, it took me 6 months or so before I could work again. From 2014 until just a few days ago, I've worked outside sales in the industrial manufacturing world. My job has taken me all over Virginia and into the Carolinas, getting to know tens of thousands of other blue collar workers on job sites and in factories. Ive spent all day, everyday, for the last 10 years hearing the same story. People are SO damn tired of being neglected, divided and manipulated. In 2019, I paid $97,500 for the property and still owe about $60,000 on it. I am living in a 27' camper with a tarp on the roof that I got off of craigslist for $750. There's nothing special about me. I'm not a good musician, I'm not a very good person. I've spent the last 5 years struggling with mental health and using alcohol to drown it. I am sad to see the world in the state it's in, with everyone fighting with each other. I have spent many nights feeling hopeless, that the greatest country on Earth is quickly fading away. That being said, I HATE the way the Internet has divided all of us. The Internet is a parasite, that infects the minds of humans and has their way with them. Hours wasted, goals forgotten, loved ones sitting in houses with each other distracted all day by technology made by the hands of other poor souls in sweat shops in a foreign land. When is enough, enough? When are we going to fight for what is right again? MILLIONS have died protecting the liberties we have. Freedom of speech is such a precious gift. Never in world history has the world had the freedom it currently does. Don't let them take it away from you. Just like those once wandering in the desert, we have lost our way from God and have let false idols distract us and divide us. It's a damn shame.
Saw that... was awesome to see... he also has his own YT channel... has had it for awhile but should blow up now... does some covers and other originals... worth checking out for sure...
I was thinking about him today, and been listening to this song on youtube. Still makes me tear up. Fortunately I made past living hand to mouth, but that first decade was an struggle of barely getting by. I remember coming out to the parking lot after waitressing over 8 hours trying to make rent, and seeing a flat tire on my car and just breaking down in tears. Supposedly this month marks a year since this song came out.

There were hundreds of iconic anti Vietnam war (protest) songs of the 60’s and 70’s. Now we have the first New World Order Protest anthem!!! 🌟 Thank you Oliver Anthony!
Instead of taking aim at our capitalist overlords (billionaires), he calls out people on welfare. So it’s all poor people’s fault? This song is so dumb and it’s sadly predictable that a certain portion of the population will just eat it up
He's an off grid farmer and just joined twitter recently. But 3 of his songs as of last night are the top 10 of itunes. This song is now known as the anthem to the working class.
We'd all be happy to do the same. Technology has made most jobs easier, but many of us still work our asses off. The real difference isn't in the amount of effort, but in the relative pay. Your father could afford to support a family with his job. I don't know a single soul below the age of 50 that has only one job right now, that doesn't also have 1 or 2 roommates that they have to live with to afford the rent in a two bedroom apartment.
If only it was so simple these days. It has become so difficult to afford a family with only one source of income. Sounds like he was a great man, in my youth my father wasn't around as much as he wishes he could have been but he worked so hard to allow us to be together and give us what he could.
This song brings me to tears every time! We the people are ALL in this together. We are more alike than we are different. It’s time to start acting like it! ✌️🇺🇸
If you got an American flag in your comment calling for everyone to do nothing, you either didn’t understand or you’re being paid by someone north of Richmond to throw water on the fire
This is the new anthem for “We The People!” It’s not for a specific side, Republican or Democrat. It’s for all of us who are FED UP with our government!! United we stand divided we fall.
It's absolutely for a specific side, mostly the right. Not everyone agrees with this non-sense. Some of us are happy for our tax dollars to be used to help the less fortunate. Why would he call out the least fortunate people on welfare when there are plenty of fat cats milking the country illegally for far more than any welfare recipient.
It's the most powerful song I've heard in a very long time. It's raw, authentic, real and heartfelt. It hits your soul directly if you have one. I cried the first time i heard it and I still get goosebumps. His story is inspirational. He struggled with alcohol and depression when he fell to his knees and prayed to God. God took it all away. A local radio station recorded this and posted it. He was so surprised when so many people resonated. Polo tv posted him at the farmers market today about 2 hours ago. Standing room only and everyone was singing along.
It’s a double entendre. Wishing politicians cared about minors, not just minors in the face of the media but the child miners on the islands that have child labor mining precious metals and resources.
@@christopheryou5040I think it could have a couple meanings, miners as in coal miners, then minors on island somewhere is the second one referring to Epstein Island and all the politicians ….Coal mining is fading out in Appalachia and a lot of small towns that depended on it are dying off because there’s nothing here, not much here but coal mining, logging and oil and natural gas production
I’m a South Korean American immigrant and the song hits my soul deeply. I’m glad many of us Americans with different color, culture and background can resonate with a song written from a man’s heart.
@CongressSux1776 you're kidding right? You become an American when you come here. I'm guessing you're one of those people who yell "go back to where you came from" when you're angry. Unless you're native American, you really can't talk regarding that.
I taught high school English for 35 years and it's refreshing and encouraging to see young men have thoughtful and intellectual conversations about today's issues.
I often wonder what my high school English teacher Mr. Lundquist would think about today's current political environment. He was my favorite teacher because he taught us more about life than just book learning. You know, how to think. Not what to think.
I completely agree. We have to get aimed in the same direction, at the root of the problem. There are just a tiny group of people ruining everything for everyone else. Once people get on the same page that governments are just violent criminal gangs who extort and rob people for their own benefit, stop pointing fingers at each other, and instead point at those who are really wrecking everything, then the game is over.
Bro I’m a Romanian living in my home country and this hits me deep. Your country and it’s politics have a really far reach. We all need to stand up to this divide and conquer mentality. ❤️
"Oliver Anthony really does punch down on the poor. The lives of ordinary working people are being torn apart by the rich, he laments, but we can fix it if we cut welfare - and taxes too. Listening to the lyrics in that context, I came to understand why the song had gone viral among rightwing figures in the US. It’s a classic example of the divisive narrative that bosses have used to pit worker against worker since the days of Joe Hill. If the poor are fighting one another over racial hierarchy or cultural grievance, their anger will be directed away from the people responsible for their plight - the rich who exploit those in work and abandon those in need." Billy Bragg 2023
I came here to say exactly that... it may be an American song and it may be a folk song...but it's speaking the Truth to every single country on this planet. It represents every single citizen on this Earth that has felt the exact same sentiment in the exact same way he sang it. Fed TF Up Beyond Belief is the vibe from this song... Ready to Shut Shit Down is the tone of his voice. I LOVE IT. I hope that he stays independent... Hellyweird is corruptible and he needs no change from any part of the "SIN-dust-ry".

I'm Portuguese and I can relate to what he is singing, I think most people around the world, if they listen the song, they will feel the same way. Very few rich man control the world now and although the countries in Europe have a lot of political partys to vote for ( Communist, Socialist, Christian Democrat, Royalist, Green, Liberal, Anarchist, Nationalist Patriotic, etc.), they are in the rich man pocket. Our clown president is going around now in ex-Portuguese Africa, preaching the war in Ukraine so the rich man north of Richmond (Virginia) can make billions of dollares. Pray my dear, pray.
He's singing about the plight of young men in this country, black, white, and brown. Historically high rates of suicide, homelessness, drug and alcohol related deaths, lowering levels of education, lowering life expectancy, lowering standards of living, the #1 victims of violent crime and murder, and the most incarcerated demographic in the country.
It would be great if men of all races, creeds, and backgrounds would band together instead of letting the elites put us against each other. Those in power don't want strong men. Strong men can remove those elites from power.

This is the kind of folk/country music I appreciate. The working man's blues. Not that truck-driving, buy shorty a drink finger-snapping commercial pop stuff.
What happened to rap music is the same thing that happened to country music. Back in the 90's and even 2000's when there was actually good rap has been replaced with absolutely garbage which is what is popular. Same with country music. He is viral now - he just sang live for the first time ever in a Richmond farmers market The crowd was singing along. This man is the original. Untouched by any label or promoter, just pure raw emotion
His first time with that many people, before he sang, he made like a speech, and was saying how back in June he played there and there was about 20 people, and now hes playing and theres 6000 and how if he can do it then we can, and then he read out of the bible!
He should stay away from the money handlers, they'll have him wearing a cowboy hat and singing about partying everyday in a pick up truck with a girl in cut off jean shorts. This song is promoting itself with its simple truths, and people everywhere know it. The New World Order is set to take control of every aspect of your life. I'm 70 years old and will not live to see it, but my children and grandchildren will. Something needs to change and quickly.
There are two kinds of country music; you've got "my girl left with the dog, the beer's run out, and my truck broke down", and then there's REAL country music like this.
This is a song for everyone. Every man. Every woman. No matter your skin color. No matter your religion. No matter your sexual preference. Red or blue, they don’t care about you, we have to take care of ourselves, and each other.

That line “wish politicians would look out for miners, not just minors on an island somewhere” is absolute 🔥🔥 I think it means that they should care about the coal miners (and other poor hardworking folks) and not just be looking at teenage girls (minors) on a private island of a rich man (Jeffrey Epstein and the many politicians who he flew in to party there with underage girls). Wow 💣
My girlfriend's kid sent me this song last week. He's not even 20, but he's been working a few years now and feels the pain already. I'm an old dog at 46 and feel bad he feels that way already. It's a damn shame...
It is his generation that will be robbed more than any other before his in America. The working middle class and working poor have been systematically destroyed by the corrupt monetary policy of the democrats and the neo cons ( all who detest MAGA). Banks get bailed out when their gambling doesn't pay. NAZIs in Ukraine get trillions to pay for their people's pensions and to launder for the political campaigns of democrats and neo cons. Meanwhile we the people of America get screwed. We need a thousand more songs and a thousand more singers writing songs about this situation. The first thing the godless Marxists sought to destroy was art. Let's we the people take it back. It is more powerful than standing armies.
Old dog at 46? Man No, you just continue to support that young man with your experiences and advice! I can guarantee that Oliver Anthony is the product of someone in his life who took the time to share with him what it was like what it is like and what it will be like. Better times are just ahead! The American people have seen some difficult situations in the past and WE will overcome!
I'm not a country music fan, but this song just hits on another level. It's exactly how I feel, and how I know so many other Americans feel as well. I worked around the farm all day today (my only day off), trying to get caught up on things. Now I gotta go to bed and wake up tomorrow and bust my ass for the next 6 days so corrupt uncle Sam can take half of what I kill myself to earn. It ain't right what's happening in our country anymore. We kill ourselves to make a living just to survive, then the govt takes half, and then tries to pit us against one another in the meanwhile. Things need to change in this country, I'm sick of having my govt take my money, then calling me a racist in the meantime just because I'm white. As Oliver says, "it's a damn shame, what the world's become." We as Americans need to quit all the damn bickering, unite as one, and love each other and change this country back into what it was intended to be, a nation for the people, by the people. God bless you, gentlemen, and God bless our fallen nation 🇺🇸
Half the country doesn't vote to restore the country. They vote for those who want to dismantle it, and rebuild it into a totalitarian nightmare. I don't know if is possible to unite at this point
You are exactly right. If everyone would stop listening to what THEY are saying and start banding together we could change the world. But people are selfish and the devil has a hold on the minds that believe all that garbage. Shut the black box off and open the good book. The s souls would be saved and lives would be changed and then Jesus could open the eyes of the blind. They are blind to the truth.
Saying saving the children being molested and also the West Virginia coal miners. That was WV biggest economy back in the day but bc of “going green” they took a huge hit and the people been feeling it ever since.

It's certain types of Country (folk). It's a song about struggle, exploitation. These things hit with minority groups hard. As they would say. They've been on that shit. Listen to 2Pac. Majority of his songs are about Liberations and Struggles. Often when he mentions crime, murder, gang activity. He is doing so in a condemning way. 2pac would have lyrics saying people shouldn't sell drugs, but they are forced to do so from circumstances. But saying he wishes there was another way. 80s-90s rap is very enlightening if you take in the lyrics with a open mind. I gotta say though. I think the 2000s rap onwards really screwed up.

All it takes, is for ALL OF US, to learn how to Set Aside all this PETTY BULLSHIT they keep tryin to use to keep US DIVIDED Against Each Other so we won't come together against Them! This song, to me, shows how it's ALL of us going thru some kind of bullshit struggle that's All brought onto all of us by the Corrupt Elites and Politicians of this planet.
Well…it’s young black men who were largely responsible for the origins of what is now called country music…as a category it was manufactured and marketed away from the blues, but it’s base is deeply familiar to them for sure.
I was sitting in traffic listening to brothers Osborne the other day. A black fella in the car next to me rolled down his window and yelled to get my attention. Asked if that was country music - why yes it is I said. He replied You converted me, I'm all over that shit! Tipped his blunt and drove off. Hehe... Quite the unexpected reaction - loved it. We bridged that cultural gap a bit.❤
God made one race. This song unites. Maybe a song like this will help people see through the smoke BS that powers to be use to divide us to reach their agendas
I'm not american, i dont live in the US, and i don't listen to country music that much..but somehow this song and the lyrics just hit me right in heart. the working class struggle, i guess we all feel the same.

@@DonHaka Sure sounds like he is targeting HIGH SOCIETY for his woes. Well, perhaps Russia will give this fellow and others of like mind a better option if in fact he is lashing out at capitalism. I'd love to evoke the love it or leave it thing. However, that retort has been the sole domain of right leaning folk in response to left leaning folk --when they were disillusioned with our system and it was never a logical retort to begin with. I truly support independent artists and there are plenty out there with good stuff. Anyway, the song is lacking for all the attention it is getting but that is how it goes in America. I will stick with Woody G. or Pete S. or Dylan or Johnny Paycheck for protest songs.
@@user-el2lw6iu4y Well what exactly is high society if not the wealthiest of the wealthy? The capitalist system only benefits the wealthy (i.e the capitalist class) and effectively oppresses the working class. This song resonates with almost EVERYONE!! Does not matter where you live, your politics, your ideology, your ethnicity, gender....nothing! @@usmanbarak2615 100%, although I would argue that it started to become clear with how the elites reacted to someone outside the establishment being elected President. They will do anything to maintain power and prevent their dirty laundry from being aired for all to see. But I agree, the pandemic was also a huge tipping point. What scares me, is just how many people were willing to both surrender their freedoms and to take them away from their neighbors.
looks exactly like the one my dad played back in the 70's . I called it a dobro ..Im probably spelling it wrong but it could be played like a guitar or slide. My dads was made in japan..I cant remmember the name of the company that made those..
The guitar is a resonator, under the metal disc is an aluminum cone that acts like a mechanical amplifier. Dobro is a brand name like Gretsch, if the instrument has a round neck it’s played as a guitar, but a square neck is played with the instrument laying on the musician’s lap, using a slide and often using finger picks.

I’m not from the US. I’m English. This song resonates with me and many others over here because it’s message is fundamentally a universal calling. Even across thousands of miles of ocean we humans face the exact same problems and daily struggles. We need to look to bond with one another and reject the devisive attitudes spread by the higher rungs of society. It’s that simple. Look out for one another and love each other with all your heart. Stay blessed people and much love to you ❤
The ones that want to divide us want GLOBAL control - they going for the one world government…it will be the elites against everyone else. Yes, we must look out for each other. Thank you for your uplifting comment and much love back at ya! ❤️
Racism is a game played by the middle class, for the benefit of the wealthy, and it happens all over. The idea that somebody is more than another person by rote, and not by experience or abiliity It happens back even before the Civil War, but let that conflict set the benchmark: Poor people fighting for the benefit of the rich, over something they can't even afford, under the guise of "states rights," and the idea that "Y'all'll _never_ be high-class, _but at least ya ain't no _*_MINORITY!_* Now *GET OUT THERE* and *FIGHT FOR MY RIGHT TO OWN A HUMAN BEING!!!"* We look at one another, are too happy to go at one another's throats, and the upper class isn't just happy to let us do it, they foster it to keep us preoccupied so we aren't watching _them._

You’re absolutely right. I’m 71. My father was born in Kentucky in 1896. When I was little he would not listen to what they called country music on the radio, called it crap. He had a bunch of old 95 rpm lacquer records with serious old times bluegrass and jug band music. Closest thing I know of that most people would recognize is the music in the movie “O Brother, Where Art Thou”.
Cant believe yall missed the "Miners instead of Minors on an island somewhere" line. That was the hardest line in the entire song.
I think that line has 3 different meanings to be taken from it.

2- Miners, not miners on an Island
3- Minors, not minors on an island

Here's a formal introduction:
My legal name is Christopher Anthony Lunsford.

"There goes my hero."
"He's ordinary."
Didn't really understand this, unfortunately, until I lost my Dad.

How long before the Demonic liberal media does everything it can to destroy him??
May God bless this man, he’s already touched millions by his grace. We needed this in these difficult times.
The line about wishing the government care more about minors and not just on that island is cold as hell. Epstien Island
It’s a double entendre. Wishing politicians cared about minors, not just minors in the face of the media but the child miners on the islands that have child labor mining precious metals and resources.
The first is miners (like coal etc.) the second is minors and refers to Epstein island where many of those rich men went!!!

We've gotten to watch 4 men fall in love with their country. It's been fantastic.
The guys don't know where Richmond is located. Apparently they didn't pay attention in high school history class.

HE IS SINGING FOR EVERY ONE OF US BEING HURT BY OUR OWN DAMN COUNTRY! We need to unite!

If the poor are fighting one another over racial hierarchy or cultural grievance, their anger will be directed away from the people responsible for their plight - the rich who exploit those in work and abandon those in need." AMAZING VOICE & HE HAS DONE IT ON HIS ON!!
He posted this on his page, his name is Christopher Anthony Lunsford, Oliver Anthony was his grandfather's name and he's paying homage to him by singing under "Oliver Anthony music"
It's been difficult as I browse through the 50,000+ messages and emails I've received in the last week.
Here's a formal introduction:
My legal name is Christopher Anthony Lunsford.
Thanks for sharing. I wouldn't have seen it otherwise ❤

It is his generation that will be robbed more than any other before his in America.
Amen Alpha! God bless you. And you and we all have our prayers that we can own our lives one day soon!

@@hoochpooch6614 I think Dobro was originally a brand name that became synonymous with the resonator guitar. Kinda like Kleenex.
sign him and make him a rich man too, see how quickly he forgets the rich man norf of richmond
This song hits so hard for all of us because it is all of us.
I'm English and this song still speaks to me and for the rest of the working class men of this country who work themselves into the ground for bullshit pay so the ruling class can make life better for themselves.
Love my British brothers.
And his people are from Appalachian territory- founded by British n Irish settlers who stayed free Americans away from Government 😊of course u feel it!
You're right, but it ain't just the "working class" in the UK
I effectively pay more than 55% tax...
Amen brother
@@KarlNiblock I wish I earned enough to put me in that tax bracket...
I love how the Cartier brothers got real quiet when Oliver started singing. He is singing the truth, my brothers! Thank you for this video.
You "feel this song in your heart" because it comes from his heart and soul. You can feel it. He is honest and truthful.
Authenticity. It is a glass of cool sweet water in the desert of manufactured, sugar coated garbage.
Don't rip glucose. Rip on sucrose lol
Not only that , it’s a problem we all feel so much everyday .. the people who have remained in power have destroyed we the people. And everything we hold dear. It is a damn shame.
Love it Chris!
I'm from Brazil, browsing RUclips I saw your channel and I thought it was really cool, I started studying English on my own 45 days ago. I understand little but little by little I discover new words and phrases and leave it to the translator, God willing. I'm going to watch your videos, your channel is in my favorites and I'm going to watch other videos. Congratulations guys and stay strong.
The idea that somebody is more than another person by rote, and not by experience or abiliity
It happens back even before the Civil War, but let that conflict set the benchmark:
Poor people fighting for the benefit of the rich, over something they can't even afford, under the guise of "states rights," and the idea that "Y'all'll _never_ be high-class, _but at least ya ain't no _*_MINORITY!_* Now *GET OUT THERE* and *FIGHT FOR MY RIGHT TO OWN A HUMAN BEING!!!"*
We look at one another, are too happy to go at one another's throats, and the upper class isn't just happy to let us do it, they foster it to keep us preoccupied so we aren't watching _them._
Love from New York, where the rich get richer and poor get poorer, every day.
@SamBANKmanHeeb Yes he is - you don't need to be white Anglo-Saxon to be English. Isn't that a somewhat racist comment you just posted? Careful.....
Start with not arresting individuals for speaking their minds and arresting your hundreds of rapists who hide behind their religion.
Gentleman, he’s playing on a Dobro guitar. Also, this is more Blues/Folk/Appalachian Folk than country. Regardless of genre the song is *FIRE!!!* This young man, Oliver, just sang a call to arms for we Americans - especially middle class - to join together and say *“enough is enough!!”*
So that's why people call this bluegrass
It’s called a rag guitar
@@shelbyrichard5793 I’ve not heard this name for it before. That’s interesting ☺️ Thanks!
@@rebeccaconlon9743 yes, it’s a specific style that often lends itself to singing about very real plights people are going through. As you can see it’s extremely relatable regardless of gender, socioeconomic status, geographical location, etc. It really just speaks to and touches the hearts of humanity 💜
Dobro is a brand. The type of the guitar is called a resonator
This man has quickly become a hero to all of us in the Appalachia. This ain’t country. This right here is Appalachian folk. God Bless Christopher and Oliver❤️
A hero for all of us
True - this is Appalachian heart and soul personified in a genuine real dude 🥲 we all needed Oliver to show up - and BOY did he 🔥🙏😭
I live in the smokies and I blare this song atleast once a day.
I'm an Appalachian girl ❤
You’re absolutely right.
I’m 71. My father was born in Kentucky in 1896. When I was little he would not listen to what they called country music on the radio, called it crap. He had a bunch of old 95 rpm lacquer records with serious old times bluegrass and jug band music. Closest thing I know of that most people would recognize is the music in the movie “O Brother, Where Art Thou”.
He was absolutely talking about Northern Va like Arlington where it’s blue, when most of the rest of the state is red, and more rural.
