  • Hyperlite mountain gear is known for ultralight, basic backpacks and equipment meant to last a lifetime. So what happens when they take on the new hipster class packs? the ultralight 40L packs with more pockets and features than ever before. Can they keep up? In this video I do a quick rundown of the Unbound. If you want to read my full review you can find it at:

I love the unbound 40! It fits perfectly, but forces me to not “overpack” on shorter trips as well. Not sure how long the bottom pocket will last as I tend to really throw around my pack… hoping to not put a hole in it. Nice review!!

Would you fit a tent in the "pocket" under the pack? How stretchy is it?

What kind of weight load have you carried with this pack?

If you were to purchase a pack, and didn't currently own one, would you go with the Unbound or the Windrider?

really depends.. For me probably the windrider 70 as I do a lot of mixed hiking. Winter, three season, packraft, fishing, hunting and so on. The Winder is a much more versatile pack for that. If however I was just doing hiking and maybe just a tenkara rod or something than I would do the Unbound.
