    Specs say it requires a 135cm (+/- 5) trekking pole. I also use Fizan Compacts (132cm) - any issues with the height? According to the HMG's "what's included," I also notice it comes with a pole jack.

    • @KrizAkoni
      @KrizAkoni  Год назад +1

      I am using it with Fizan Compact 3 (PCT edition) with no issues. I also tried it with one of my Leki poles extended to 135 (tip to top of handle) and it is actually too tall unless you squish the tip in the ground pretty far. With the tub loop around the pole tip and under the basket, the Fizan Compact 3 extended to the limit lines pulls the mesh door taught…any higher makes it tighter than I’m comfortable with. I find the jack un-necessary with the Fizan Compact 3. The jack is a nice carbon fiber tube that fits securely on the Fizan pole tip.

      @@KrizAkoni Perfect, thanks for the info. It's a very nice touch that they include the jack at all. I think I'll be ordering one of these, coming from a 2016 silnylon Lunar Solo.

    Just received my mid 1 and it’s a a little wider than my pro 1 when rolled up but shorter also by a few inches. Actually seems to pack smaller than the Durston Xmid pro 1. Or almost no difference from when I packed its so it’s about the same in my opinion. The stuff sack is large and makes it look larger. Anyone worried about packing size don’t it’s great. Amazing tent so far and I actually love how easy it sets up and that it only uses one pole. Have meet several 2 pole tent backpackers that broke a pole and had 2-3 days trying to make it work. I know that Durston is all the rage now (I had one before this) but this is an amazing tent. nothing again the pro 1 (its great also) this is just a better fit for me...

    There's a reason this hybrid-mid configuration is shared by at least 6 similar-looking tents I can think of - it's the lightest design that offers what most would agree is a 'real' tent, meaning it protects from the elements, from the ground, and from insects, while allowing its occupant sufficient interior space and movement to perform basic tasks and functions.
    I'm unsure what 'bomber' is meant to mean. I've thrown a bomb at much stronger tents and it's completely destroyed them.

    Hi Kriz.
    Good job on showing the features of this tent.
    I went to the Hyperlite site for this tent, they said the price is $599! Regardless of the weight, that seems like a very high price to pay for a tent..
    As info I use the REI Quarter Dome 2 and love the room and other features.
    Regardless, always enjoy your videos!

    • @KrizAkoni
      @KrizAkoni  Год назад +1

      Condensation has been about the same as the Duplex and Durston Xmid2 Pro. I’ve only had light rain, so too early to say. That being said, this design seems less prone to have the floor poke out from under the fly.

    • @MylesAway3
      @MylesAway3 Год назад +1

      @KrizAkoni thanks for the reply. That makes sense. I am also 6 foot and had a rough night one fall when using a single wall dcf shelter in the rain. I had to cut my trip short by 2 days because everything was soaked! In hindsight, I should have been more diligent in wiping the condensation down.

    About to pull a trigger on this one or Durston X Pro 1. What are your thoughts one vs. other? In addition to function, aesthetics matter a lot to me as well. Durston doesn't look great in the pics, mids always come out great in photos. How much more headroom (in) do you have in Durston Pro 1 X vs. Mid 1?

    • @KrizAkoni
      @KrizAkoni  Год назад +1

      At the pole, it’s about 4”, which is deceptive. The two pole design of the PRO gives greater headroom along a longer portion of the tent and the steeper end walls is better for toe box separation from condensation. I’ve always had a little trouble getting nice pitches with my PRO2 though. Both builds are exceptionally good and you would not go wrong with either one imho. I like the simplicity of the MID1 pitch. I have a Duplex, PRO2, and this MID1. The MID1 feels good to me and is likely what I’ll use when I attempt my AT through hike in late ‘24. Yes, the MID1 has a certain aesthetic that I like.

    Looks well made but it's a hard buy imo... Looks huge packed compared to my xmid pro 1. In terms of space, did you try the plex solo ? I did own one before the xmid pro 1 and this Mid 1 looks like it has less space than the plex solo for some reason and it's quite a bit heavier.

    • @KrizAkoni
      @KrizAkoni  Год назад

      Rolled up tighter, it’s about the same size as the PRO-2 (I can fit it in the same bag). The MID-1 bag is a little big IMHO, and it expands to fill the space. I’ve not used the plex series but hiked with people using them. They’re all very similar to me…nothing innovative like the PRO-1.
