    Your videos are always "meat and potatoes". I enjoy the facts and the function. Good job. Thanks for taking the time to actually inform us heathens and near do gooders! : )

    Great review, do you use the Kakwa as a daypack as well? Does it cinch down small enough? The features and weight make it a good all-rounder.

      I haven’t used it as a day pack yet but I think it would be fine for it. Super comfortable carry. 🦑

    Good review squid. You speak directly to someone that is looking at this pack as an option. I like what one commenter said, you speak to the “meat & potatoes” of the pack. If I were searching for another pack option, your video would have been extremely helpful.
    Keep’em coming !

    Great video - thank you. Love my Kakwa 40! Added a ZPacks Lumbar pad, fits like a glove and works better with my anatomy. For bottom straps, added Z Packs Lineloc V with Loop with a small zip tie and strung their black cork to the tie out loops. Super light weight and works well to secure foam sleeping pad.

      Yeah, I’m loving the Kakwa 40

      Hi, can you explain this in a little more detail please? I have a Kakwa 55 and I can see two small loops on the bottom of the pack, but I don't understand how I can secure a foam sleeping pad to the bottom of this pack without it banging around while I walk. It seems like the pack needs four of these small loops for a secure connection, but I'm probably missing something.

      @@drb3 Hello - Lineloc fabric loops hang down from the front tie outs (Bottom of mesh pocket) and the line runs to the bottom tie outs closest to lower back. So, line runs across the bottom panel on each side. Similar to beginning of this video, I used solid cord and lineloc instead of shock cord and stopper. Works great, only tradeoff is the pack no longer sits upright when I set it on the ground. ruclips.net/video/9PMEouybt9k/видео.htmlsi=DXzgyEYwbpTQWS3S hope this helps.

      @@bjbeck11 Thank you for the follow up and the link to the other video showing the loops and tie outs on the bottom of the pack. My Kakwa 55 does not have the tie outs closest to the lower back on the bottom of the pack (the only tie outs are around the mesh pocket and the ones higher up on the pack with the side cords). So I will most likely be carrying my foam pad on the top, which is fine. Thank you again.

    Squid. Leaving the Arc Haul years ago the arc feature is something that I miss terribly. The straps at the bottom of every pack I own is a must for me. Happy Hiking

      Micah 6:8 showed me a way to make my own straps and I think I’m going to do it. On the 2 trips where I’ve used this pack, I’ve missed the arc feature but I love the fit, ride and comfort of the Kakwa. Everything is a trade off. 🦑

    When talking about the "Arc" feature of your Zpacks, what temps have you used the Kakwa at? I try to hike ONLY when the lows are down to about 30F, and the highs are up to 60F . Any hotter than that and I'm going to sweat profusely. I just subbed. Let's see what I can learn.

    • @GoneFeralWithSquidly
      @GoneFeralWithSquidly  3 месяца назад

      I’ve carried the Kakwa as low as 32°f and as high as about 65°f. I don’t mind hiking in the low to mid 70s but higher than that, it’s unpleasant. 🦑

    Excellent review, Squid. I had the advantage of seeing the pack in person on our Firey Gizzard Trip and I was very impressed. I'd have a tough time with the smaller rear stretchy pocket. I cram mine way too full. 😂

      Yeah, I’m used to putting a lot of crap in mine and this one forces you to be more strategic about what you put in there. 🦑

    The outdoor vitals cs40 is an amazi g pack it has that arch feature, plus it comes with hip belts!!!! Lol. I a. Interested in trying the durston pack. I wish there was a way we could try packs for free. There are soooo many i would like to try

      I agree about wishing you could try them on. The arc feature on packs is really nice but you lose part of the capacity when you apply the arc. 🦑

    Only things keeping me from getting one is that small front pocket and non removable hip pockets.

    • @GoneFeralWithSquidly
      @GoneFeralWithSquidly  6 месяцев назад

      For me, the non removable hip belt pockets are not an issue even though I would like them to be a little larger. The small front pocket though is a little disappointing. 🦑

    Get the skinny 1L smart water bottles. They fit in those pockets.

    The front pockets aren't meant for water bottles

    • @GoneFeralWithSquidly

      That may be true but if not, what are they for and if not, I’ve discovered that attaching bottle sleeves to the daisy chain is nearly impossible.

    The point of the light weight pack is not to carry so much crap. Ditch the chair.

    • @GoneFeralWithSquidly
      @GoneFeralWithSquidly  6 месяцев назад +2

      That was exactly the point of downsizing to the Kakwa 40 but I still like my chair on some trips. 🦑
