I already purchased this display and it will be here in a few days. I wanted to experience the Pro Pen 3 on a small display I could afford. Great review Brad and I am excited to be using this new technology. Your review eased my concerns.
How is the pen? Is it comfortable to use? It seems very light and slim. I’m considering getting this tablet, but the pen is the main thing that worries me
@@tadasart I myself, like the pen design and feel. It is very accurate and very comfortable to use. I am finding that I am using the Movink with the Pro Pen 3 more than the Pro Pen 2. I do own the Pro Pen 2 slim as well but prefer the Pro Pen 3. You can purchase the rubber grips separately if you prefer a fatter feel like the previous version of the Pro Pen. Hope that helps.
I’m struggling here a bit. It’s vaguely bigger than an iPad Pro. You still need a computer to run it, bringing it closer to iPad price. Unless it’s a software thing, it just feels there’s a miss here from Wacom. Now…. Boost that screen up to 19” or so, I, interested…..
It’s a software thing. There are some desktop only softwares, like Toon Boom, that don’t support iPads as a drawing tablet. At least… not without an $80 a year subscription to Astropad… and then there’s the drawing experience. IPads are really nice… but as a professional artist drawing on one of these 8 hours a day… a cintiq is just plain nicer to draw on. I’m a digital nomad artist that regularly uses Toon Boom. So for me this is a no-brainer upgrade from my 13” cintiq pro… mainly because of how thin and light it is but also because FINALLY I don’t need a rats nest of cables plus (another) power brick to use it.
@@RichardSilvius good point. I use an ipad when I've got suitable work for it, or want something for in front of the telly. I love working on my 21" cintiq, and would love something even bigger now. Software I use is clipstudio (rubbish on iPad for many reasons), and rebelle which is only on computer. PS sometimes (soooo wish i could dump adobe...but clients...) and z-brush. I don't mind using a computer, esp a powerful laptop, its just real estate on iPad is the reason i don't use it for more than in front of TV work. I'd use other software on iPad otherwise to get the job done. But if they went bigger, at that thinness it would be easy on the lap. Main thing I'd love a combo for is the other side of my work doing live illustration for conferences. Which is when i'd jump at a 19" or even a 21"
@@RichardSilvius I completely agree! For extended use or animation work, a computer system is still necessary, as it is more convenient than the iPad Pro. Although I own an iPad Pro, I ultimately use the large Cintiq Pro at home for my creative work. I also bought a Movink because it has simpler cables, so I don't need to carry a bunch of old adapters when I go out. It's really appealing!
The Galaxy Tab 120hz feels great and I use the Wacom One pen which is okay but it's not the same as the higher quality Wacom pro pens. This is very close to what I'd like but with 120hz options and slightly larger maybe around 16-20 inches. I don't know if I need 4k at this size. Very curious to see how the Xencelabs OLED version compares.
@@Uomodargilla Yeah, I have one on order. Though the comparison between the Tab and the Movink makes more sense with both use Wacom hardware. Apple is doing their own thing. The reason I'd want and use a Cintiq or Movink is for desktop or portable desktop use. Despite using an M4 chip, there's still limited applications on the Ipad and I need specific desktop animation software. Then of course there's Procreate, the one drawing program which won't come to Mac. It's nuts and Apple really needs to rethink their Mac OS - IOS integration.
This is exactly what I’m looking for the size is perfect for a digital nomad. I love the fact that it’s touch and it uses only one USB cable. I own the Cintiq 16, I use it with a MacBook and to be honest it is clunky and a bit outdated, I was this 🤏🏾 close to chucking it out the window yesterday. Brad you’re awesome I love your videos Thanks a Mil. 🙌🏾
Interesting, but how long will the OLED panel last? I have lots of Wacom stuff that's put in over 10 years now. My Cintiq 24 still looks great and calibrates nicely every year. It's kind of expected from devices so specialist (and expensive).
I have a 12 inch tablet so I understand but for me the 13inch will be good. The closes size I see will be the ipad 13inch and it's okay I guess. I feel like the 16inch will be here either in a few months or next year when it comes out. Plus will be more expensive, I have an intous pro medium and a 15.6 laptop screen so when I need to give my eyes a break and fix my poster I'll use that. Plus my thoughts are it's already a thinn tablet and if it's bigger is it more prone to bending? I'll get which ever comes to stores.
Using my iPad has made me use Procreate exclusively. Is it an apples to oranges comparison or would it be an interesting video to pit something like this versus iPad and Procreate? Love your content, keep doing it!🔥🔥🔥
Tnx 4 sharing Last weeks my cintiq finally started to fail (cable) and it was time to buy another, soon I felt they was a new model because of what I saw on their page so I just bought the 13 Huion (good tablet BTW working on it ) and I suspected just a couple of weeks Movink came, looks amazing and I was watching every review and asking direct to Wacom so I'll get mine. (new follower & subscriber here)
Thanks for this review! I've been using Wacom tablets and displays since the late 90s and have even done videos for them. I'm currently using a Wacom Cintiq 24HD, a dinosaur I know, but it still works great after more than ten years! I've also got a Cintiq16 for my laptop. When i saw the Movink, I thought, "meh." How is it different than an iPad and procreate? But this review now makes me want to try one. Would be a lot easier for plug and play with my laptop than the 16. Cheers!
How do you compare it with an iPad connected to your Mac @thebradcolbow ? iPad has better color, better resolution, better pencil and its a powerful device itself. The only drawback for me is lack of keys on the Apple pencil, which makes righ, mid clicks challenging. What do you think?
Sounds like you like it a lot for colors, lite weight and function but matte screen not quite to texture of other more grippy screens. I love the grip texture on my Astropad matte iPad Pro cover. Would not want smoother. I hate working on smooth glass like iPad without matte screen.
Yay appreciate the review! Been waiting to hear about this! Seeing you work with it, the small size does seem like an issue, photoshop menus take up so much real estate. I do hope they release a bigger size of this
Seems like a nice product to use with a Macbook where I could have my reference on the Macbook screen and the drawing software I am using on the Movink. I do this with my Huion Kamvas 13 2.5K and Surface Pro 8 but clunky since the Huion is more than 2X as heavy as Movink and the Surface Pro is not idea to use in lap. How do you use your Movink with laptop. Is it efficient in lap with laptop.
Man, I’ve been trying to get into Blender for years, but every time, I end up stuck or finding myself in a time-suck trying to figure out how to fix a thing or do a thing. You’re the second creator I’ve seen using Blender in their workflow, and you’ve inspired me to give it another shot. Hey, maybe it’s gotten better, and I just missed the memo. 🤣 Anyway, thanks for the honest, in-the-trenches review-definitely adding Movink to my Christmas wishlist. 🎄🎁
this is the first wacom tablet that I felt was tempting for a long time, but I am on cintiq 16 (none pro) and I won't go back to 13 inches, if I am going to do that, I might as well get a used Ipad Pro 12.9, which cost about the same.
I only can coloring with paint tool Sai 2. so I was looking for a portable screen so I can also draw outside since my cintig 24 is to big So I am really happy that Wacom build this one. There was a lot of other brands, but I love the Wacom system so much, that I will stay on Wacom. 😊
Do you have any plans to review the Minisforum V3? For a portable tablet that has pen support and also has windows it has a competitive price compared to the wacom studio and microsoft surface if you look at the specs. But I wonder how the drawing and pen hold up on it.
Hey Brad! you forgot about the compatibility with the other pens! Propen 2, the samsung notes, the 3rd party wacom emr pens and so on! that's a a amazing value if you have them already!
Hi @thebradcolbow - thanks for this very informative review. I've used my Intuos Pro since 2015, and it has not once let me down. I need to confirm some things I'm clearly not grasping with regards to the Movink 13. So, to confirm, there is no built-in battery. Therefore, it would need to be plugged into a laptop/wall socket/(if possible) a power bank? Is this correct? Secondly, the software one chooses, is that installed onto the tablet or does it require being connected to a device on which e.g. Adobe Photoshop is installed? Thirdly, what other software would you recommend for drawing? I'm considering letting my Adobe Creative Suite go. Thanks in advance! Looking forward to cracking open some mysteries on a seemingly impressive device.
Movink is perfect as is. Making it larger? Wacom already has plenty of large tablets to choose from. This fits a need artist have been asking from Wacom, for a long time.
Great review Brad (as always). Curious to get your opinion on whether you would personally prefer the movink and a laptop or the surface studio laptop. I like the idea of having one device to be less cluttered but wondering which has the better drawing experience. Many thanks
Trying to decide between this and the Huion Kamvas Pro plus 4k. I’m replacing my Wacom Cintiq 16 which no longer turns on. I love the portability and the OLED. However I’m worried I’ll miss the extra space I used to have and I worry that the Movink’s surface texture will be more slippery than I’m used to.
So thanks for the great video, I have used my IPAD in the past for Procreate until I fell more in love with PS & AI. Are the Wacom Tablets compatible with AI? For example I am looking at the Wacom Cintique Pro 17 or 16 Touch. Or even the MOVEINK. DO they work wi Illustrator? On a mac of course.
It may have improved a lot over the years, but the first thing I do when drawing on something is disable touch. If I don't then I get a ton of palm acne dots all over the image, or even worse, switch layers without realizing and work against myself for 45 minutes without noticing.
Does it always have to be plugged in? I went with the iPad pro a few years ago, because I need to be able to "spin" my drawing table around without wires. When I was a kid, I used to turn my notebook sideways and spin it to get good angles. Ya know, before they let you pinch and flip the screen itself. I draw just for fun, so I don't have a desire to learn how to use something tethered. I might just stick with the iPad.
Hi brad I was wondering about the movink and the pro pen 3 they made for it with the nib removal etc. does it come with the extra grips etc that normal pro pen 3 comes so you can go thin or thick? or did they not include it? p.s I know you can buy a normal pro pen 3 and use it also with this
I would buy it if it was at least 16" and higher resolution. For now, I prefer the new ipad... Does the new pen have barrel roll? I heard it doesn't....?
My favorite feature is that you can turn off the 'touch.' The i-Pad is an excellent drawing experience, but I feel like just looking at it crosseyed will activate some new feature that I need to spend 15 minutes on Safari just to learn how to deactivate. Having it only react to the pen (provided you can still access the shortcuts via the side buttons) would allow me to really get into drawing without worrying about palm rejection.
Hi! I didn't really understand... How is this tablet powered? Is there a builtin processor or is it powered by the PC/Mac? If so, it's a disappointment for me. I don't really use my Xpen 16" Artist pro for that reason... Why this name "movink" if it's not portable and not an ink tablet? 😢
You mentioned Huion not supporting touch for Mac. What about XP Pen? They have a larger touch screen for a cheaper price on Amazon, I'm pretty sure you've tested it at some point. Does touch work ok on it, even if it's not as good as on Windows?
How does this compare to an S8 Ultra Tab? I got one of those half a year after release. Drew one picture...haven't touched it less. Feel it's past its prime to resell close to buying price of 1200+...feeling down to say the least man. Man it's hard getting time for hobbies, and when you do, motivation :(.
I used Intuos in the past and have been using the Wacom One (to make comics), but I always found it too small and I really liked the touch stripes on the Intuos. The One is kind of very, very basic. No touchscreen. This is better, much better. Also a quality pen. The power chord on the side is also better than on the top. Overall much improved design. Still too small though.
As always - great review, thank you. Do you have Wacom Art Pen to try on Movink? I'm using Wacom's art pen because of Rebelle 7, and am curious if it will work, since Movink have Dual Pen Technology,
Unfortunately, for most people $750 is not affordable. Stick to the alternatives until you are doing full-time art as your job. But a ton of people are making incredible art with Huion, XP Pen, Gaomon, etc.
Thanks Brad. Too small for me. I want something like this but 20" and not cost a ridiculous amount like the pro 22. Otherwise, I will just stick to my giant 24" pro and the Ipad pro for on the go.
It seems that people don't really understand this product. They compare with the biggest Kamvas, which it's not meant to be portable, not OLED. Like, this thing is not a Cintiq or One.
The Movink is the end result of Wacom seeing other competitors releasing more affordable products and them not being a monopoly on drawing displays anymore. Competition drives innovation and lower prices and improved features.
The touch gestures looked like they performed well enough in comparison to touch gestures on older PC tablets. Hope they make a 16-19" version and I will finally have something I want to upgrade to. I like that it comes with that customizable on screen menu, I use a software called Tabletfriend which works well enough.
Yeah a 16 inch would be cool too but I bet it's will be more expensive plus I had to look at how big a 16 inch display is and it big to me lol. I remember going to best buy and I see how big the samsung ultra is and that's 14 inches.
hello, Brad. I love this product and I would like to ask what's your pc/laptop that Movink connected to? since it use single cable usb-c it required displayport alt mode and normal pc don't have this. so I'm not sure about getting this one..
Hi Brad, have you seen the lincstudio s1? I've been looking at it from a windows surface replacement and it seemed interesting but little reviews so far.
Looks promising! Hope to see a larger version of this with higher resolution! Relatively affordable (This *IS* Wacom, after all), like its for hobbyists. I'm impressed!
Afternoon Brad, as someone fighting a week long Wacom/HP headache, you might want to add that the Movink is not compatible with a vast majority of Desktops because it requires a USB-C with display port out. The vast majority of desktops, even high end Omens and Alienware desktops do not support this.
@pb5335 there's definitely more than just Procreate and CSP for iPad now. I use those two, but also Fresco and Illustrator for iPad and can do all of my work on my iPad currently. There've been a couple projects where I used Inkscape on my Max because it does better Vector tracing, but with Fresco, I can draw directly with Vector with Raster feel and just transfer it to Illustrator for final edits. I'm only a "professional" artist on the side, but it's definitely possible for pros to do all their work on an iPad only. If you're a hobbyist artist, even moreso.
I was talking about the portable or travel setup.. these display tablets still need a laptop to work na.. i don’t doubt the relevance of drawing tablets in a home or studio setting..
Is moveink have function, to turn off the screen and use it just like regular graphic tablet? I mean, to draw on it, and look at the my main screen, in front of it?
Great video. I am thinking about buying some Wacom tablet because I've heard they have a good Linux support. But I am not sure which one to choose. This will help me a little :) thx
Would you mind to compare the painting/drawing of Movink 13 and Ipad pro 2024 since you have the both product and you are a professional artist, would like to have your opinions.
Hi, i have a question related to you online course( learn to draw in 60 days), maybe you changed the website or something, idk, but i can no longer access my course, do you have any idea why, or does anyone?
This is a huge question for me! I'm surprised it wasn't covered... I'm debating between an upgrade to the movink or to a new ipad air 12.9 inch. Currently use an older 2nd gen ipad pro 12.9, or my seriously out of date hp zbook.
Can someone help? Google is giving me absolutely no answers. I bought the Wacom Movink 13. I plugged it in. The tablet itself works fine but now the laptop trackpad doesn’t respond at all What do I do??
I have it too for my time when I want to go outside. I love it. But I wished it would be 2-3“ bigger. I have 24“ cintiq and sometimes it feels so small haha
I’m new to this, so this could be a silly question. Can this be used as a second pc screen when not needed as a drawing tablet? I’m starting a course where I might need to keep digital written notes and don’t want an iPad.
Yes! You probably want to pick up some kind of stand to set it up on but can totally be used as a second display when you're not drawing. Also, is that boarder collie in your profile pic? It looks a lot like my dog :D

I’m struggling here a bit. It’s vaguely bigger than an iPad Pro. You still need a computer to run it, bringing it closer to iPad price. Unless it’s a software thing, it just feels there’s a miss here from Wacom. Now…. Boost that screen up to 19” or so, I, interested…..
a 19 is a little too large to comfortably sit on your lap like an ipad. 16inch 1440p in my view is when I'd buy.
@@RichardSilvius : totally agree. Unless Apple put Mac OS on iPads ;)
If you draw on your Galaxy tab you really should try an Ipad Pro M4 its WAY more responsive and you'll feel the difference in few seconds
It's nuts and Apple really needs to rethink their Mac OS - IOS integration.
pauses video... checks price on google.... closes video XD
Closes video, disconnects internet, switches to pencil and paper.
🤣🤣🤣This was my exact reaction seeing the latest M4 ipad
This is exactly what I’m looking for the size is perfect for a digital nomad. I love the fact that it’s touch and it uses only one USB cable. I own the Cintiq 16, I use it with a MacBook and to be honest it is clunky and a bit outdated, I was this 🤏🏾 close to chucking it out the window yesterday. Brad you’re awesome I love your videos Thanks a Mil. 🙌🏾
Body is actually a Magnesium alloys instead of plastic according to the Wacom website.
Definitely would consider a 16 wacom movink
I only can coloring with paint tool Sai 2. so I was looking for a portable screen so I can also draw outside since my cintig 24 is to big
So I am really happy that Wacom build this one. There was a lot of other brands, but I love the Wacom system so much, that I will stay on Wacom. 😊
Interesting review! I would be incredibly interested in your feelings comparing it to the Xencelabs Pen Display 16.
Yeah! I'm really looking forward to trying that one out.
This is like the probably best 13 inch pen display.
Hi Brad, I would love to see your comparison video on this new wacom tablet, Samsung new tablet, XP pen new tablet and iPad tablet. Thank you
Great review Brad (as always). Curious to get your opinion on whether you would personally prefer the movink and a laptop or the surface studio laptop. I like the idea of having one device to be less cluttered but wondering which has the better drawing experience. Many thanks
Is this a tablet or just a screen and you need to connect it to a PC?
Canada, its $999.99 apparently.
The Cintiq 16 is only $150 more.
Which one would you like better?
Do you have to connect it to a labtop the whole time? Or only to charge it?
Is burn in an issue on these? Ive heard they only last a year or so before u start experiencing issues with burn in
Trying to decide between this and the Huion Kamvas Pro plus 4k.
They are just displays to draw on. You'd have to connect them to a Pc or laptop.
1080p ? i guess that's ok for 13" but everyone is so used to seeing higher density displays on their phones and tablets... i dunno.
This is the first wacom product i've wanted since my intuos pro. Defo getting one of these :)
Would u suggest this over a cintique 16 for a begginer?
Hey Brad, does this pen has rotation too besides pressure and tilt sensors?
Rotation is very important for me as a calligrapher.
Only Wacom Art Pen (discontinued) have pen rotation, but I don't know if it is compatible with Movink.
Any opinions on - ASUS ProArt Pen Display VS Wacom movink 13, considering they are the same price range now?
How does the moveink compare to intuous pro? Is the feel of drawing on the tablet different?
As always - great review, thank you. Do you have Wacom Art Pen to try on Movink? I'm using Wacom's art pen because of Rebelle 7, and am curious if it will work, since Movink have Dual Pen Technology,
Unfortunately, for most people $750 is not affordable. Stick to the alternatives until you are doing full-time art as your job. But a ton of people are making incredible art with Huion, XP Pen, Gaomon, etc.
Always learning something new with your content! Looking forward for more especially your drawing guide videos! 😃
THanks for the video :)
wnatifg a comparison of moving and one 13 touch
@@midollafun Samsung Ultra is 16"
hello, Brad. I love this product and I would like to ask what's your pc/laptop that Movink connected to? since it use single cable usb-c it required displayport alt mode and normal pc don't have this. so I'm not sure about getting this one..
16 inch is my way to go so if they made 16 inch ver then I'm willing to get one! Just idk if PPI is low or good. I couldn't find info about that
Hi Brad, have you seen the lincstudio s1? I've been looking at it from a windows surface replacement and it seemed interesting but little reviews so far.
Is Wacom offering an option like HDMI for the connection to the computer or is it only usb-c?
Looks promising! Hope to see a larger version of this with higher resolution! Relatively affordable (This *IS* Wacom, after all), like its for hobbyists. I'm impressed!
First independent review I have seen so thanks. If I plug it into an IMac, can I use it as a second screen and is there any lag? I wonder.
Afternoon Brad, as someone fighting a week long Wacom/HP headache, you might want to add that the Movink is not compatible with a vast majority of Desktops because it requires a USB-C with display port out. The vast majority of desktops, even high end Omens and Alienware desktops do not support this.
Do these display tablets still make sense? With ipad and Samsung tabs being standalone devices making alot more portable.
Depends on what you use them for. iPad is limited by the OS, and you don't have all the professional apps that are on Desktop computers.
procreate or csp for ipad or all the shitty android apps vs choosing tons of different art programs- you decide lol
@@Tim4Tat who carries a desktop computer to the park or couch tho😭
Im 3 minutes in and i still dont know what type of tablet this is ??
Standalone android ?
Or like a plugin extra screen drawing tablet ?
cant wait for ur review for the xencelabs oled 4k display
Is moveink have function, to turn off the screen and use it just like regular graphic tablet? I mean, to draw on it, and look at the my main screen, in front of it?
Great video. I am thinking about buying some Wacom tablet because I've heard they have a good Linux support. But I am not sure which one to choose. This will help me a little :) thx
The gyroscope in the pen is missing like in the new iPad, this is unexpectedly a very cool feature for calligraphic design!
Hi, do you recommend combining it with mac mini? appreciated
Hmmmmm!! This is a very intriguing device indeed - and by the sounds of it, you aren’t too bothered by the 1080p?
This is a huge question for me! I'm surprised it wasn't covered... I'm debating between an upgrade to the movink or to a new ipad air 12.9 inch. Currently use an older 2nd gen ipad pro 12.9, or my seriously out of date hp zbook.
In my experience on a 13 inch 1080p is just fine, on a larger screen you definitely want more if possible
Ipad pro 13 sized and its an insta-buy! Hopefully there are a few extra OLED 4:3 screens from the ipad M4.
Hi Brad! Do you have a tutorial on how you use blender and photoshop for creating scenes?
A 16 inch one with 2k or 4k would be absolute perfection for me
I purchased a third party 2m cable and it doesn't work with the movink. No signal
Does it have to be plugged into a computer though?
Is this a standalone device or does it need a pc? I want a mobile device my cintiqu 16 is great but I travel for work.
Can someone help? Google is giving me absolutely no answers.
I bought the Wacom Movink 13. I plugged it in. The tablet itself works fine but now the laptop trackpad doesn’t respond at all
What do I do??
Thanx for the video B-Rad! 👊🖍
Does this tablet works with the wacom remote?
I'm looking for a sturdy somewhat versatile stand for iPad air drawing
I have it too for my time when I want to go outside. I love it.
But I wished it would be 2-3“ bigger. I have 24“ cintiq and sometimes it feels so small haha
Outstanding review!
The comic looks very interesting. I hope it is well received!
