Fantastic how-to video on harmonics. Your video editing is spot-on. :) I just realized that harmonics on the 7th fret are a 5th up, and on the 5th fret are another octave up. So cool!
Thank you Wendy - I don’t know why I didn’t talk about that so thanks for mentioning it 🥲 the 7th fret I see as an octave above that note rather than 1.5 octaves above the open string, that’s maths that confuses me 😇
Hello Sammy aka 4stringboy, .this is a very good explanation of playing harmonics on the ukulele!!!! Escpecially your Idea of thinking in chord boxes and having a picture of them in the mind is really helpful. It opens my mind up.... remarkable tipp👍!!!! Thanks so much for sharing! When you are playing harmonics it is so Fluid. I adore it! Stay safe and be blessed! With Kind regards from Germany, Bettina
thank you so much for this explanation :) you have such a nice pace in teaching/speaking and the amount of information is just perfect - it's as harmonic as the harmonics themselves 😂
Fabulous tutorial on harmonics Sammy … very clever way of understanding how to play them using chord boxes ..can use with my Fingerstyle Fursday Harmonics edition download 🤩😁🦋
Hi 4SB, I was fortunate enough to find one of these ukes and I snatched it up. Beautiful instrument! Thank you for giving this teaching demonstration. I was trying to figure out how you did it. Are you producing the thumb picks yet? I like the concept. Be well my friend!
Good strings (ukelogic I’ve found best) really help, but it’s very dependent on the woods and size of your uke too. Making sure you give the harmonic enough ‘ring’ by moving the index finger quickly and not killing the note by accident ☺️
Thank you for encouraging us to play harmonics more! I definitely got better at playing them after watching your workshop 🙂 Quick question... Do you mind breaking down the harmonic strum? My attempts sound 💩
Thank you Nasia! Always wanting to spread the sparkle love 🧡 there’s a lesson on 4stringfriends braking the technique down but maybe I can do something here too!
Really well put together. I liked your angled chord boxes with the lowered opacity. That was a clever bit of editing. Question. Sparkle McSparkle. Did you ever consider naming your ukulele this? ✨✨✨
It’s exactly the same technique on exactly the same places 👌 if you check out my original tracks Breeze and Overcast, they’re both on baritone and full of harmonics 😇

Hello mate, glad you like it 😇 thumb picks are being made, release is not yet but coming hopefully soon!
do you have any advice on making harmonics louder?
Good strings (ukelogic I’ve found best) really help, but it’s very dependent on the woods and size of your uke too. Making sure you give the harmonic enough ‘ring’ by moving the index finger quickly and not killing the note by accident ☺️

@@4stringboy thanks for the heads up! I'll rejoin the family soon, so no worries if you don't get to it here 🙂
when you male the felt picks is it for leftys and rightys? (sorry this question is a tad arbitary)
No apologies, it’s a good question! We’ve made it so it can be used for both, can’t forget lefty friends 😇
@@4stringboy thank you!!!!!

Cheers Kie! If I had allowed the British public to name it, then I figure this would be the outcome
Is there a similar technique for the baritone ukulele? and if so which notes are harmonic ?
It’s exactly the same technique on exactly the same places 👌 if you check out my original tracks Breeze and Overcast, they’re both on baritone and full of harmonics 😇
@@4stringboy Thanks, from the other side of the world.
@@4stringboy Thanks for the info, will have a look. Hope looking forward to hearing more of your music
i use 12th, 7th, and 5th
what is the size of your ukulele in this video????
Tenor, it’s the Flight 4SB
Amazing! After a few hours of practicing, I can now do artificial harmonics
YES MATE YOU RULE 👏
@@4stringboy Thanks to your video! Keep up the amazing work!
