*plays beautiful clear harmonics* "I wish I could whistle" 😂
I wish I could trade my skill of being able to whistle for even half of his talent 😭
I loled
I want to now believe that he spent his whole life mastering the violin because he's always been self conscious about never learning how to whistle 😂
who needs whistling when you can play perfect harmonics XD !

How to tell you're starting to become a fan of Ray : watch his video teaching about violin techniques when the instrument you actually play is piano
Some, only that I play the flute xD
Wait that's me...
Flute, guitare and piano ... Why am I here?
Wait, so you are not practicing harmonics on the piano? What about vibrato? :D
Olivia Pereira you can play pizzicato, but only on a harpsichord
"The voice of angels" lol. The shaky screeching sound I produce is the screaming of suffering souls in hell.
OMG I can't whistle too! I have something in common with a violin virtuoso!
You're probably also living on the same Planet as him
I can’t whistle too
DerSibbe savage
I can't as well. Although I also couldn't play violin at all
DerSibbe hha
0:41 He's freakin' possessed!!!
I love all the tidbits inbetween!!
Makes it so interesting to watch :D
Anyone else learning Czardas?

Great explanation and some nice practice advice along the way. Thanks!
This video helped me with a trick part of my concerto piece. Thank you
It's very amazing how you are always smiling when playing. It gives a stranger the impression that you are very joyful and kind that's really beautiful
Thanks for the clear explanation!
Great Video! And great production value! Entertaining to watch!
Ray , you are not just a great player you are also a great teacher !
Hey I am going to play Mendelssohn with you in the Yorkshire Young Sinfonia tomorrow
CAN NOT WAIT!!!🎻
(I play Violin)
thank you for these videos!
Ray, great work. I'm a composer and orchestrator who comes from a band/woodwind background. Your videos are a great resource for me as I grow into these roles. I need you way more than you will ever need me. :)
this is so nice video thank you very much ray
Gracias por la clase de armónicos. Excelente. Saludos desde Venezuela.
Awesome teaching
"When you are learning something new, with small amount, but frequently" So true
My favorite harmonics are in Ravel's Tzigane. It gives a whole new colour to the piece.I truly wish to play it some day!
Ray:haha I wish I could actually whistle
Me:haha I wish I had better intonation
Thank you Ray!
I'm actually able to pay attention and follow along, subscribed!
Thanks so much for this
OMG I’ve learned artificial harmonics just by watching this video! I’m going to surprise my teacher in the next lesson🤭 Time for practice now. Thanks Ray❤
Maraming salamat, Ray!
Thank you very much, Ray!
this dude is so funny that I actually watch his videos when I am depressed ! I first saw him at towsetviolin and ever since I have been a big fan.
i am just starting to learn. it is cool to learn new things that i dont know in my voilin playing :)
Much appreciated
Ray can you please conduct a masterclass for complete biggners. How to hold the VOILIN left and right hand how to hold the bow etc. Many will benifit from that
Love from india
Hi! I think you can check out that tutorial on youtube(if can't find a teacher for a reason) cuz world-class or not the basic things you've mentioned are pretty much the same except for further in-depth like "tension". There's so much to learn from him that it is sometimes not necessary for a beginner and even intermediate "yet" there are so many other things to look up first. But if Ray actually does it then he probably has some kind of world-class level mindset or knowledge that again, a beginner wouldn't be able to practically 100% understand yet.
I hope you will be able to start playing violin and love and care from a community :D
You are so under-rated I mean I came here from two set but this is just as good if not better
the third movement of korngold violin concerto has some amazing harmonics!
Ray Chen ROCKS!
Thxs helped alot
Thank you so much I’m stuck on this one passage with artificial harmonics and I hope your advice helps
you're amazing
Please do a tutorial on double artificial harmonics. Thank you!
Hi! Thank you for your video! It was very helpful! Could you please make a video that explains how to play with vibrato in higher positions? Thank you!
I have to admit, I'm not a musician but watching these sort of videos is really interesting. Also, that dbz reference made it even more worth the watch. Thanks!
"I can't wait to hear your beautiful harmonics" HA VERY FUNNY
GTA easter egga in a violin tutorial! I LOVE YOU!
Can you please make a video on the correct bow arm movements.. Also how to draw a straight bow on the violin thank you so much.. Ray Chean
U are probably the best person i have seen. 😍😍😂😂
Great video! I'm still not able to do it perfectly but now I at least know how to do it in theory 😅
감사합니다.♡
thanks
"İ cant wait to hear your beautifull harmonics!"
Me: *Sounding like a dying duck with a viola in its throat*
yeah, sure...
Same 😒
I saw this as the first vod on your channel and immediately subscribed without eveb watching it cause i suck at harmonics
0:06 I wish I could actually play the violin
Thanks for the video! Can you show us how to do vibrato on harmonics? I’m really struggling with that right now😅
the DB reference is what sold me :D
Supert merci
So he is a pilot. Good to know. And skates. comparison comes from experience. I caught these subtleties as he was talking....
Ray is adorable!
Came to see this after watching two set violin :)
exelente... saludos desde ecuador
Thanks I was practicing Saint Saens
I am just trying to get back into violin after stopping before entering university. Thanks for instructional videos. Haven't hired a teacher yet

My artificial harmonics sound like a mouse having an asthma attack

Romanian Folk Dances no. 3 by Bartok only contains artificial harmonics. I'm currently playing that piece. :)
this applies to viola as well, thanks
Don't forget the movement of the Quartet for the End of Time where the cello part is an isorhythmic motet of harmonics
Love u❤️
But can you play Mary had a little lamb on a double bass
2:37 sacreligeous
Im learning Czardas soon so I will def use this 0-0
My dog came right next to the speaker when you whistle!😆
There is also Sarasate Carmen Fantasy page 3
I thought this said "Ray teaches harmonica" for a second and I got probably more excited than I should have lol
I searched for this because im learning the Cabbage song/piece from Twoset, Also, thanks Ray!
Can you please please make a masterclass Monday video on trills
I want to learn the strings with him.
Does anyone know if you have a diamond notates a augmented 4th above the note in string, what the actual register it would be??? Thank you
3:25 so you can be happy that in a sense you are practicing two things at once, actually three at once , because Extreme bow control is required for harmonics which is way more difficult than normal notes
It would be like in Dragon ( Moses??) when they are trained in high gravity situation . So when you go back normal to notes you are going to feel ..... (這段我聽不清楚)
So it can be a bit frustrating, but with patients and a lot of notes checking you will get there.
It would be like in *Dragon Ball Z*
I wish he would make a video on how to do fingered minor thirds and minor sixths. I am really wrestling with them in the 3rd mvmt of the Paganini concerto 1. In fact, it would be nice to just have a RUclips tutorial on that whole double stop section in that concerto. That’s probably the hardest passage in the whole piece.
When Ray said plz remember to... I immediately thought he would say like, sub, and share the vid. LOL
Upload more techniques , please
How do you get the Zapateado harmonics up to full speed? (Love your videos, so helpful!)
What would you recommend with the harmonics in Kreisler's Liebesleid? I am just starting out harmonics. You mentioned lifting the finger on a harmonic, would this be a good approach for this particular piece or should I do it only by touching the string in the spot where the harmonic occurs? Thanks!
there was a very famous American violinist who would perform paganini 1st concerto and totally cut the double harmonics in the 3rd mvt.answers on a postcard please.
I cant play those harmonics yet, BUT AT LEAST I CAN WHISTLE HAHAHAHA
Meditation from Thaïs would be what level? hehe
I can play very little violin, and I'm willing to try to play this solo piece. xD
Where'd you get the chin rest? Kim Kashkashian also has one similar.
Caprice 24 is my favorite song; here's the deal: teach me how to play and I teach you how to whistlhe! U.u
It’s a piece not a song
When are you going to make new videos? 😭😍
I wish I was ten, and he were my teacher. Whatever. It’s not late yet.
The Intro was Scott Joplin the "The Entertainer"
Thx for letting us know!
I would have liked to actually HEAR you PLAY the harmonics you talk about....like a scale or something. Definitely more than ONE NOTE. Example scale of BOTH type of harmonics :-( Could you please do another video on this?
Never been able to play double stopping harmonics, any tips would be most welcome
To develop a more brilliant tone with harmonics, definitely keep bow speed and pressure in mind. Harmonics always require more pressure than the other notes for the whole phrase to be equal. Save bow and use more of it during the harmonic notes for a clear sound. Hope this helps!
Woaw, your fingers are very slim 😁
what music was that at the begginning? i know i know it, but i can't remember!
BADLY NEED HELP: any practice tips to double harmonics with Bazzini's Ronde. I just can't.
