Slim is chic and a lot of chic Parisian women are very slim. Case in point: the first woman you showed with the sequin pants is slim and looks fabulous, the second one is slightly heavier and the sequin pants looked tight and not so stylish on her. I also believe chic is not always slim, my lovely Italian grandma was a little overweight but she looked amazing in all her simple, elegant outfits. I wish I had her wardrobe. I grew up with her in the 70s and I managed to find a suede jacket very similar to the one she wore, it makes me feel very close to her when I wear it.
The French have an expression, "Jolie laide", which I believe means "beautiful ugly". I had a French friend who was not conventionally attractive but she was so confident and unapologetic and good for her! I really admired her for that, why put yourself down? I am also not beautiful but since there's nothing I can do about some things, I'm holding my head high. At least I can dress stylishly which shows self-love, self-respect and self-care. Something I can change is my weight, and I lost my excess weight. I am embracing getting older too, there's a lot of us and we older ladies rock! We are often far more stylish and cool than stressed mums in their 20s or 30s.
I like your ballerinas with a bit of heel, they're so hard to find and when i do they're super expensive. It seems such a shame that designers only design ballerinas that are very flat as they make your feet and your whole figure look less elegant. Also a bit of heel is healthy for the legs. Thank you for your videos.
Great video. I would just add 2 observations. French women of all ages might buy the same piece of clothing, for example a lovely cashmere cardigan, but will style it really differently as they grow older. Also, French women think in terms of outfits. They will buy something only if it goes with things they already own and they can think of using it in several ways.
I love your channel, thank you for producing all this lovely and enjoyable content ❤ I would love a video where you compare The top 5 in the following categories: trench coats, leather loafers, jeans, pants, wool or cashmere coats, any category where you share your top 5 pieces from over the years or currently in your wardrobe.
Hello Jamie, Just wanted to compliment the pops of colour you are adding to your wardrobe. We started calling this dopamine dressing but I love the way colour can be a lovely accent - as you have shown here - Cheers!
I love your style and I’m wondering what is the link to the white top you’re wearing ? I also need to stop keeping my nicest items for “a special occasion” everyday is a special occasion 😊. It’s a hard habit to break because I stay home more often now .
Sadly that top is an old one - it's the Ines top from Marle, about 3-4 years old. You might be able to source one pre loved if you do a little search, though x
I really enjoyed this video. What's going on w nylons/pantyhose these days? How are women managing their bare legs being shown w a dress or skirt. Do they use a tanning spray? 🤔 Pantyhose always kept me warmer in winter.
Here in Sydney our winters are so mild - I have a pair of stockings but truthfully seldom reach for them. I'll usually wear my skirts on days where it's a little milder for bare legs. My sister uses the skin toned ones in the winter, though (for Canberra!)
Another amazing video as always! All are very good points, and all accurate from my own observation and research! I'll confess that I've been fascinated with the "french girl" style since in my teens, and have actually used it to an extent to hone in on creating a streamlined, but still applying my personal style, to my wardrobe.

The most american take on "french" girl fashion I've ever seen 😂
She’s Australian.
