Assembling your first tackle box is an exciting step for any budding angler. Whether you’re planning to fish in ponds, lakes, or from a kayak, having the right gear is essential. The most sensible plan is to get some baits that you can fish anywhere within the water column: top, middle, and bottom: Here’s a concise guide to help you get started:
    Choose the Right Tackle Box:
Opt for a 3700 size tackle box. These are great because they can easily be taken with you to the pond, creek, or lake. I have found just a regular ole backpack to be perfect.
Consider getting something to store your soft plastic lures separately.
Select Your Lures: you need to be able to target all levels of the water column: Top, Middle, and bottom!
Top water baits: Poppers, ploppers, buzzers, walkers, but most of all - floaters! Whopper Plopper $13 (3”-5”; ½ oz. - 1 ⅜ oz.). Booyah Frog (2-2 ½”; ¼ - ½ oz.)
Middle column: Reaction Lures: Include spinnerbaits, crankbaits, swimbaits, and jerkbaits. These attract bass at different depths and situations. Spinner bait 3/8 oz.; willow leaf, Colorado/Indiana blade.), swim bait
Bottom baits: Soft Plastic Lures: These include worms, jigs, and creature baits. Choose different colors based on water clarity. Texas rigged worm (off set hook and bullet sinker) and Jig
    Hooks and Weights:
Pick up some lead weights to rig your soft plastic lures effectively.
Don’t forget to include hooks suitable for your chosen lures.
    Essential Tools:
Pliers: Necessary for handling fish and removing hooks.
Line Cutters: Handy for trimming fishing line of all types: floro, mono, braid.
Remember, building your tackle box is a personalized process. Adapt it to your fishing style and the specific species you’re targeting. Happy fishing! 🎣🐟

Very helpful as someone who is still learning how to fish. So many RUclips videos assume you know what bait etc to use and I really dont.

It's crazy how many different baits are out there. It's better to just keep a tackle box simple.
