Grossly underrated album. I was always so surprised with the lukewarm reception despite doing well. Nocturnal was so massive it didn’t get out of its shadow, but now with Trevor gone and some perspective people can appreciate this record is solid. Rest in Power, Trev.
@@ejk425Thank you, dude. I’ve always been floored by this album and try to point it out to people. This is my favorite without question. Best lineup, and the way Ryan Williams writes is incredible. He literally leads the band

i'm 32 now, and allmost don't listen to metal anymore, but I can not explain with words how much the music from this band used to mean to me through my teenage years and my 20's. Rest in Preace Trevor!
Damn, dude. I’ve gotta give you props; I’m currently 31 and have owned this album for at LEAST 10+ years, (mind you I believe I purchased Ritual before even getting this record but even still, consider Deflorate their best album to date) and I used to listen to this album front-to-back on a daily basis in 2012 and loved every minute of it, and it never really grew even minimally stale to me. I have since given the album (and this band) a huge rest, but always revisit both venues regularly, and in each time doing so question why I don’t do it more often because of not only the quality of the musicianship, but also my lifelong love and dedication to metal-but in conclusion, I must add that with each sprinkled-in listening (which have become unusually popular of late) this band has if anything, become INFINITELY more enjoyable to me, and with my ever-developing love/analytical skills/taste for music, tracks like this particularly (love the way they dissect their own pace in songs such as this and “Christ Deformed”) The Black Dahlia Murder has truly developed into one of the classiest, sexiest and most enjoyable acts I could possible ever imagine. That’s cool that you outgrew metal though, dude. Much respect to you for taking that next step. Amen. 🤣🙏
@fidelgonzalezlopez9342 I don't get this either, it's a form of music not a pair of shoes. But if you're not feeling it any more of course you're gonna do you.. so best wishes! I remember the show in Montreal for the 10th year tour, this was either the encore or the "last" song before it, I was front row Singing the lyrics and I remember Trevor Bent down, looked at me, reach out his hand and pulled me up on stage, we sang a couple lines together and I jumped in the crowd, it was one of the absolute best day of my life. Rest in Peace you Legend, my condolences to his family, the band and every Blastfiend in the world.

I prefer the old albums to the new ones tbh, the melodies were catchier and songs were more energetic imo, propably because the songwriting was simpler.

Here now in mankind's bleakest hour
Born of the casket, I'm the heir to a corpse

I shall bloody my hands 'til the last breath be torn from me
So blindly we walk the winds of these plagued streets
Dead, the once feeling part of me
O lord divine, please break this silence
Destroy your race of faceless liars
[Guitar solo]
At the edge of existence
We the clays of intention have ripened in your image
Ah, the binds of tradition
Your archaic deception numbs our empty beings
City that sleeps on a million graves
In a world full of hatred, to fear enslaved
Countless; the dead slaughtered in your name
Not an utter of your voice have you once repaid
No above, no below, just a man letting go
When all my earthly desire is disowned
No screaming sirens should sound
No revelations profound
Simply lowered into the ground
That's just what I'll be, dead in the dirt
So blindly we walk the winds of these plagued streets
Dead, the once feeling part of me
Bring forth a wrath of cleansing fire
Here now in mankind's bleakest hour
O lord divine, please break this silence
Destroy your race of faceless liars

Nearly perfect, but the last line is clearly "MICROPENIS." Listen again, you'll see
"No above, no below,
Just a man letting go,
When all my earthly desire
is disowned.
No screaming sirens should sound,
no revelations profound,
Simply lowered into the ground,
that's just what i'll be: Dead in the dirt."
