- On December 18, 2017 I was diagnosed with prostate cancer. Thankfully the tests that followed showed no signs of the cancer spreading outside of the prostate and as a result I have decided to have surgery to remove the source of the cancer. This series will document my experience with prostate cancer and hopefully serve as a resource for other men battling this disease. Prior to my surgery I will be running the Austin Marathon on February 18, 2017 1/2 of the live strong foundation. My objective is to raise money and awareness for other families fighting this disease.

Glad your surgery went well. Now for the recovery. Best wishes on a speedy recovery and keep fighting!
Thank you for these videos Chris. I have just been diagnosed with prostate cancer. Low PSA 3 but gleason (3+4)=7. Waiting for MRI in mid January to get more info and see radiation oncologist. At this point I am leaning towards the surgery that my urologist is recommending due to my age 53. So much information out there it can be overwhelming. Thanks again!
I am glad that my videos are helpful. I wish you all the best in your treatment, whatever path you decide. Best wished and keep on fighting!
How did things work out Mr. Bell ? I have your stats 3.8 psa, Gleason 4+3, family history. Scared as hell.

Thankyou Chris. Recently been diagnosed and currently on active surveillance but will need to make a decision at some stage regarding treatment. Will be binge watching all your vids. Hope all is going well with you.
I am well thank you. There are a lot of options out there and it can be overwhelming at times. Wishing you all the best as you navigate the decision on the best course of treatment for you. Stay strong
Thank you for your video series. This has been very helpful. My surgery is scheduled for mid June. The anxiety is killing me.
Best of luck on your surgery. I understand all too well about the anxiety leading up to surgery and recovery. Try and find things to keep you busy so that you dont get overwhelmed. Best wishes and keep fighting!
Chris Hartley Thank you friend. You are very inspirational for me right now. I’m still working so that helps. And I work hard on projects at home so I’m keeping my mind as occupied as I can. Looking forward to waking up from surgery!!!
@@bulldog7196 Any updates Bulldog? May the Lord Jesus Christ bless you.

Dan Becker thanks Dan! Hope to see you out on the course.
Hey Chris. I just found you and your journey and boy am i glad you had the foresight to log it. It's eerily similar journey thus far in many ways and i feel more hopeful now. I'm at the equivalent of vid 14 which is such optimism sapping time. Thanks to you i can fast track to 21 to keep my spirits up. Thank you for that and I'll be sure to smash through those kegels.
Jack.
Stay strong because it can get better. We are now 7 months post surgery and I am getting better everyday. Kegels Kegels Kegels.....do as many as you can. I have an app on my phone to make me accountable for at least 100 per day. 10 sets of 10 for a count of 20.
That's how they found mine on a PSA blood test. Had no symptoms.
RIP
So sorry that I have not posted or been monitoring comments. I am doing well and just posted a quick update. Stay strong and hope you are doing well.
I don't think it matters if your 20 or 70 pretty much the symptoms are the same aren't
What is the other person's channel you mentioned who did a video diary?
I watched Mark's prostate cancer journey. He is early 50s and very informative.
Hi Chris. I very scared at the moment I keep having to having the need to urinate. I go between 5 to 10 times a day urgency is the issue. I'm worried i have prostate cancer at the age of 43 as I have heard the younger you are the more aggressive it is. Tomorrow I have a PSA blood test really hoping it all comes back OK. I have no family history of this. I also get a strange ticking or vibration coming from my scrotum area.
Hello my friend, any updates? My dad is 56 and going through the same thing. May the Lord Jesus Christ bless you.
good luck my friend my husband has stage 1 prostate cancer he will be doing surgery then if the doctor wants him to do chemo or radiation we will talk about it.
Best of luck to you both. Keep watching the other videos for more information about my experience after surgery. I recently went back for radiation and a 3 month testosterone shot. All in all, the radiation is not bad. Be sure and track his PSA post surgery very closely. Radiation is sometime needed to get any small amount of cancer that remains post surgery. Best wishes!
