  • One month after completing radiation and hormone treatment (lupron), I completed the Austin marathon. I hope that no matter your passion, you can find something to distract and motivate you through treatment. Also find resources that can help guide you through all the data, medical jargon, and treatment options. I have found ZERO Cancer as a main source of support. #prostatecancer #psa #knowyourpsa #prostatectomy #lupron #zerocancer

    Hi Chris, thank you very much for making and posting all these videos, you had been an inspiration. I was diagnosed with Prostate cancer last year, had my surgery in July, unfortunately my PSA is not undetectable so I am at a point of doing PSA tests every 2 or 3 months. So far the PSA has been consistent 0.1 but every time I go for a test is very stressful. You have been a light at the end of the tunnel during my journey. All the best...

    Hi Chris , I hope this find you well. I have some clarifications regarding the radiation theraphy.
    PSA BEFORE AND AFTER RADIATION.
    What type of radiation you had.?
    Effects on your colon and bowel movement.?

  • @williamgrant8761
    @williamgrant8761 5 лет назад +1

    Hello Chris, Last Radiation sixth February, PSA 13th March 0.26. Pre Radiation PSA 0.29.
    I think it can take up to nine months for the full effect of the Radiation to show.
    So, try not to have "PSA Anxiety" if you still have a high level of PSA.
    At the least , have bought myself some time, a small decrease over thirty three days is a plus.
    Hope the results are in your favour.
    Good Luck

      Hello Chris, PSA test 29 April came in at "0.1" (from 0.26), Very pleased but of the mind that this is perhaps temporary . Have an appointment next week with my Doctor , will see if they will prepare me for "Chemo" re the "Stampede Trial"@@chrishartley6966. Would rather prepare now than later.
      I am not a Pessimist, but having read so many other case histories, rather do the groundwork now. If Two PSA rises from the Nadir and Chemo for me is the way ahead, will see if I can get it with out the ADT.
      Am averaging about ten miles a day walking, got a bit ambitious today tried jogging for about a half mile, minor problem with knee, so back with the walking in the morning. It is still cold here, have to wear gloves when on the morning walk. Stamina is improving, and generally feeling well.
      Seemed to have mind fog, and lack of concentration and that was without ADT, but it is improving by the day. Also started on Coffee and Green Tea again, seems to create some bladder urgency, not critical , caught short a few times but manageable.
      Hope Your PSA is a good result

      I did have a rise in my PSA which caused me to go back for radiation and 3 month lupron shot. At my last appointment I still had lupron in my system so the PSA reading cant be validated. I should know more at my appointment in June. I am hoping for my first ever undetectable PSA! Hope you are doing well. Stay strong and take care of yourself.

    Hi Chris, I had surgery 3weeks ago today. So still recovering. Waiting to have Blood test to see If I'm clear. Could I ask, how long post Op before you resumed training. I'm a Young 54 but like going to the Gym. Not sure about getting started.

    • @chrishartley6966
      @chrishartley6966  5 лет назад +2

      My advise is to take it slow and consult with your doctor. I started with walking following my surgery. I was back running shorter distances with doctors approval in 6 weeks post opt. I did have some bleeding after each run. The doctor though is was likely from the stitches not being fully recovered. I stayed away from the gym for a bit longer because I was concerned about lifting and leakage. I found the mental just as challenging as the physical in the recovery but time makes it better. I wish you all the best in your recovery. Recovery is a long road so dont rush it, take the time your need, and keep fighting!

    Hi Chris - you are doing amazingly well and you are so strong. At 44, I had my prostate removed in Nov with a Gleason 7. I January I was told I had negative margins and my PSA was 0.01.I feel very lucky, but my next test is in June and I am starting to get worried. I hear lots of stories about PSA increasing after an initial drop. It really can do your head in thinking about...... I'm hoping with time it gets easier. Your videos really helped me when I was being diagnosed and going through surgery etc. I hope it all works out for you....

    • @chrishartley6966
      @chrishartley6966  5 лет назад

      Thanks Mike and I hope you are doing well and continue to have a stable PSA. I also get anxious about PSA results. I hope that over time it gets more routine. I go back in June for my second PSA result following radiation and hopefully a true reading as the last time I had Lupron still in my system which can impact the results. Best wishes and stay strong.

    I meant to ask, because your nerves were spared, you were able to eventually experience your erections come back...will the nerves not be affected by the radiation?

    • @chrishartley6966
      @chrishartley6966  5 лет назад +1

      I still take sildenafil to ensure an erection but I have been able to achieve one without any medication. Radiation can affect erections and continenance. It did not seem to impact me
      My doctor does warn that the affects can show up months or years after treatment but I am thinking positive that I will be okay.
