Great reminders...we live a luxurious life. Water from a tap! A warm shower and soap and towel! A change of clothes. A bed. Shoes to wear. A frig with food. Something to cook it with. Some money in my wallet. A job. I'm so grateful.
I am currently on a debt free journey. I love watching your videos because it reminds me to keep my spending low and that we as humans really don’t need much to survive. Thank you for your videos
I also mostly watch to reduce my spending. If you watch foodie channels, you want to eat out, if you watch frugal RUclipsrs, you want to read books and be happy at home.
no new car---my 10 year old BMW SUV is in perfect condition--was given to me by my sister 6 years ago-no card payment or cc debt--NO latest i-phone either---my old one works just fine & no subscriptions--I am a finacial minimalist also!
THANK you for saying that you don't need debt in your life. I can't even count the number of times I've heard people say: " You need to have some credit card debt to have a good credit score." That kind of nonsense has probably caused SO many people to have money problems for life. Great video.
I avoid things that are disposable. I have linen napkins, i use dish towels rather than paper towels, I have a 1976 electric percolator that doesn’t use filters, I refill gallon sized water bottles and I have a bidet and use reusable toilet paper.
I still enjoy the content and I try to keep things in perspective as well. I eventually want to buy my own home, but I'm planning on buying one outright. My grandmother had a great saying. The bigger the house, the more you have to clean.
Sound advice! Thanks for your insightful help. I'm always amazed at how others will complain about the rise in prices but won't adjust their spending habits. Love the song by the way!
The only remaining debt we have is on our home. We just got our tax refund. I used it to get my husband's truck inspected. It was sitting in the yard waiting for that moment. Last year when I took it in, the amount ran over the $1,000 to get it inspected. My husband fixed the body work that needed done. Considering the cost of replacing it, spending $2100 to get it inspected isn't bad. We really don't spend a lot of money on it otherwise. We bought the best truck on the road when we bought it as a leftover in late 2000 for a reduced price. The remaining money will go to upgrading our electric for our new heating system. Our lifestyle creep is backwards. We started out with Verizon phones (latest) and paid Verizon for the service. We left them for T-Mobile who offered less cost for a nicer phone. Then we discovered cheaper phones and cheaper plans. Now we have Mint mobile and Motorola phones. We are looking forward to becoming debt free. I follow you because you are right, and you sing pretty well.
Just totally awesome!!! They should teach what you just said, to all the kids in school. You're a world changer. Sounds like a peaceful life. Bless your heart ❤️
I have become a lot less materialistic and more strategic to have an emergency fund. My family has different ideas. I want a simple life and being able to pay the basics.
Absolutely 🤣❤ love your content and speaking from personal experience on having debt its horrible experience currently so close to becoming debt free been working on this over a year now and I'm learning to be more financial Lit to build a better life for me and my family!
Living within your means includes not getting into excessive debt. It took a while but I found an affordable unit only needed to borrow 80K as I had 170K saved up and paid it off in 5 years whilst working a second job. I estimate this saves me $300 per week. I also paid my university tuition while I did my studies. How are they convincing people to take 50-100K in student loans? It boggles the mind.
What do you think about a mortgage? I had one when I was your age, and we made it a game to pay it off as fast as we could. We looked at how much we saved in interest by adding on whatever extra money we had to add on to the monthly payment, and found so much satisfaction at the savings by adding more money that it inspired us to put as much as we could. Enormous sense of accomplishment when the mortgage was paid off. We paid it off before we thought we would and then started working on our retirement fund with gusto.
This is the kind of content we always refer back to keep fresh in our minds these precious lessons. You have the unique ability to turn a serious topic into a funny video!!! You are a stand up comedian!!! I always avoid browsing and window shopping, YOLO can definitely break my budget. Instead, I take an inventory of my closet and I am pretty much happy.
I compared the new Google Pixel 7 with my current phone (Pixel 4a). I don't see any major changes but a faster CPU, larger screen (which I don't want) and more storage. I'll wait for another 2 years until my phone is not able to run smoothly any longer even though unused apps are removed and caches are emptied.
I also have a Pixel 4a and I really like it. My original one fell in the pool and I was luckily able to get a refurbished one from the additional warranty for just a small deductible.
This is very helpful information and it all helps to alter one's mindset regarding consumption: appreciate what you have and do not buy what you cannot afford in the long run.
Hello Austin .I agree with you I am 65 and I am free is so good not to have to worry about money. I pay for every5hing in cash and I love it .i refuse to give my money in interest to some one else no way not me

Debt comes from renting money. I will not pay somebody rent for funds when that person is doing no work to earn that money. I also just do not want debt, and I have none. I am also fortunate to be able to save 10 percent of what I make, as well as give away 10 percent to help family and others. I live well without a car and with national health care in Central Europe.
I avoid car payments, credit card debt and mortgage payments, I'm done with all of these already, I'm In my mid 50s and don't intend to get in debt again.

If I need a car, I have friends and neighbors who are grateful for some gas money. I occasionally use public transportation. I'm 66 and have worked mostly low paying jobs. With the money I saved by not having a car, I was able to buy a house, by myself, pay it off and save for a comfortable retirement (not that I want to retire but in case I have to). People. I avoid people. I don't run away from my fellow humans, but I'm sure every time someone approaches they'll want one of two things from me : money or attention.
What's one thing you avoid?
Tech upgrades and only buying furniture when necessary.
Buying a new phone if my old phone still works.
Going into debt unless it's for a property
Fake nails and eyelashes like many of my colleagues have (I'm a flight attendant)
I've always avoided "buy now, pay later" or "don't pay until" payment plans. If I can't pay for something in full, today, I can't afford it.
Great reminders...we live a luxurious life. Water from a tap! A warm shower and soap and towel! A change of clothes. A bed. Shoes to wear. A frig with food. Something to cook it with. Some money in my wallet. A job.
