Thanks. I tried the simple reset (jumping the plug with two wires) that others had posted videos of but that alone did not solve the problem, the SRS light would not cancel. It was only after cleaning out both the drivers and passenger side seat belt receivers that I was able to successfully cancel the light. Saved me a trip to a mechanic.
Thanks! Glad it helped! Make sure to like the video and maybe subscribe to help out a brother! Thank you again!
I'm hoping it's just buying some contact cleaner and cleaning all my seat belts, it would save me a Big Bill from the dealership and I don't want to do that ghetto stuff of jumping connections.
What is the size of the torx bit?
ATTENTION: in the United States of America Honda has a lifetime warranty on all srs seatbelt and airbag issues. There are safety recalls on these parts, so God forbid anything catastrophic happens. However if anything does go wrong or the indicator lights light up your dash don't stress out too much, simply call the Honda dealership and they're obligated to fix it for free , yes, even on used vehicles bought in private sales from one person to another, they must fix it for free due to the safety recall. Also you shouldn't wait until something goes wrong if you own one of these vehicles you should just , have your VIN number handy and call the dealership and they'll tell you if the issue has been taken care of or not. Don't thank me , thank God and you have a blessed and safe and healthy and happy day .....
In Canada, seat belts are *not* subject to lifetime warranty. Sometimes life sucks in Canada...we don't get the perks that the US does.
Do you know if that's the same for an Acura MDX 2002?
@@brooktanzania4201 It should because it is a Honda....
Man you know your stuff! It worked on the first time, thanks.
Thank you! You have to do the process REALLY quick for it to work.
For a Accord V6 2004, that torx screw has a center notch stand out so a typical torx screw driver will not able to fit in. I found out the hard way after I spent half an hour trying to find a driver that fit until I took a photo and zoom in to notice it. So your torx screw driver has to have a dimple in the center to fit. Why made it so hard? After that all I need to do is straighten the lever of the switch, blew craps out and cleaned it with carb cleaner and then dappled them with w40 oil to prevent sticking lever. Since I have a scanner I used that to reset the error code. If it weren't for the special torx screw they used, this would be a 30 minutes job to fix both front seat belt buckles.
I have this problem with my Element (which shares allot of components with the Civic SIR including the seat belt buckles). I see that you are Canadian (I recognized the contact cleaner label on the can and its from Canadian Tire). I hooked up my Innova 3100RS scan tool and it reported that the driver's seat belt buckle was faulty. I cleaned the buckle and cleared the code using the method presented in this video and it worked for a while. Now the SRS light is back on. I have a passenger side seat belt buckle I got from a scrap yard and will attempt to swap out the switch. The theory being that the passenger buckle sees 50% less use so therefore may be in better shape to begin with.
Just saw video. When do you plug back in the yellow cable ? After the light goes off completely before you start the engine or after
So if the airbag deployed is it worth the $$ to get it repaired? I'm looking at a 2006 model but the airbag has to be replaced. Is the repair going to cause other issues with the vehicle?
Worked for a few months and it turned back on again. Checked with a scan tool and it is the driver side sensor error code 41-11, changed the sensor and it is ok now hopefully, will see if will turn back on after a few months.
Did it turn back on?? Thanks
I do this about every 2 years on my Acura RL.
Thank you. This was my problem on my 2005 acura mdx

On 1998 - 2002 Honda Accord the 2 pin connector is on the left side of the steering column above the OBD 2 connector. If it hasn't been used it most likely will be connected to a blank insert in the Multi connector box so you have to get under there and look for it. It's easier to get to if you remove the lower panel under the steering column...
I did the same and got fixed but after couple of days went back on.
Any suggestions?
When do you plug back in the yellow.
Mechanic worked on my clutch, changing Master Cylinder, now this SRS light is on my 2004 Honda CRV, could this be from something unplugged ? any idea ?
Shoulnt be related to the SRS.
It wasn't related to that work.. 3 months ago, this crv had the Takata recall done on Passenger Airbag.. took to a local Honda shop, hoping it was related & under Warranty.. and here it was a bent prong that came loose..so yeah..related to that recall replacement..so it's fixed and didn't cost anything!!
Please clarify exactly when you turn ignition on/off while touching/separating wire ends.
DID WORK1).POOT IN PAPER CLIPP TURN THE KEY LIGHT IS ON 2) LIGHT WILL GO OFF. DISCONNECT PAPER CLIPP. 3) AFTER 2-3 SECEND LIGHT WILL GO ON. CONECT PAPER CLIPP. 4) LIGHT WILL GO OFF. DISCONNECT PAPER CLIPP. 5) LIGHT WILL BLINK 2 TIMES AND ITS DONE.
vytas2000 did u clean seat belt?
How long will it stay off?
@@keishaslog untill the switch gets dirty again.
My sister Honda crv '08 airbag lights on..we try reset the yellow connector next fuse panel...using paper clip, but apparently wouldn't reset.
Her problem is still there, that's why it did not reset.
I have they same problem help me
Thanks for much for this wonderful video! Just a quick question. I have a 2011 Honda CRV. If my SRS light is *NOT* on, but somehow with BlueDriver OBDII scanner, it detected the Honda 41-11 "No signal from driver front impact sensor," does this mean that the sensor need to be replaced, or can I just ignore that 41-11 code? Can that 41-11 code being triggered by someone broke my front row passenger side window or caused by the Honda driver side airbag recall (which I replaced the airbag with a new one like 2~3 years ago)? Thoughts? Thanks!
It could be the sensor but it could also be that there's a problem with the wires.
Thanks, it worked.
How about when after you install new seats? (Non OEM)
Question: Does this fix include that you got an SRS code on Engine code checker? 2002 Accord's SRS light is on. No fuses blown, no code. Also, another video showed using a wire across an unplugged plug under the dash, green or yellow color. What connector is that? There is no connector simply hanging down. There are however two connectors plugged in behind the dash.
Every car is different but look for a yellow plug with two wires. If the SRS code did not clear, it means your problem still exists.
So I had a windshield wiper issue where the fuse had to be checked and my mechanic accidentally pulled the SRS fuse but replaced it intact, the SRS light came on and we couldn't take it off, I'm still dealing with the windshield wiper issue which he seems to think is the motor, however he just had his other mechanic friend turn off my SRS light with his expensive computer and it did come off. My question is how come just pulling out the fuse would set off that light so we can't take it off without going to extravagant measures? I know this vehicle is real sensitive about all kinds of weird stuff like I replaced my catalytic converter and he put it in his vehicle and the catalytic passed but in my vehicle it was giving me horrible issues until I replaced it. But I digress, back to the SRS light and the fuse; this makes me feel vulnerable in case it were to happen in the future. Can you shed some light on this for me please?
use my way to reset it. Sometimes lights like SRS annd check engine doesn't know how to reset on its own so you need to reset it yourself through a obd2 reader or manually.
Can this be done with an OBD2 scanner?
Linh Le only if it is srs/abs code compatible
That's what I'd like to know...inhave a basic Bluetooth one its.not detecting maybe I need a better app or mine is basic
The basic code scanner is an OBD 1, an OBD2 scanner can also scan the SRS system. Try one of the auto parts stores that will scan the system for you (free). They probably can’t reset the system ( laws) but can at least pinpoint the problem. Good luck.
Does work for airbag as well?
If the problem still exists, the light will come back. SRS light is for the airbag.
@MTLJack. 1998 Honda Accord, LX w/4cyl engine. I have no yellow plug just hanging down. There's 2 yellow plugs but they're attached to a PCB with 7 or 8 other pugs. Note that there's nothing stamped anywhere that says ''SRS''....
Hey Monty. I've got a 1998 CR-V. Is this plug people are ducking with on the side where the PCM/PCB is? I saw a guy with an Accord do it from the drivers side. Any info will help. Im tired of this SRS light being on. I did a motor swap properly since the last owner and my check engine light is off niw, but that damn SRS. Let me know if you've figured anything out. Thanks.
@@boodro2122 Lets see, on the 98 Accord it's under the dashboard in front of where the steering wheel is located. Looks like a yellow square fuse & on this one anyway it almost resembles like a double fuse. Hope that this helps you.
@@montydaniels1054 I gotcha. If I have time this weekend, and the weather isn't too nasty, I'm gonna crawl under there and see what I find. Then I'll just need to figure out the sequence for when I complete that circuit. If I git 'er did, I'll come back here and let you know what all I had to do.

@@montydaniels1054 Oh, very good. Thank you!
I'm going to try this on my CR-V tomorrow. I'm guessing on a RHD car the plug is on the other side? thanks for the video :)
Yes on the other side, it could be that ECU pinouts are different too, be careful buddy!
Hey Jack, great video, I just picked up a 2004 Honda Civic Sir(Canadian Model) just like the one in this video. My seat belt light goes out when my seat belt is put on but my SRS light remains lit, does this mean the problem could still be the seat belt switch? Will cleaning my seat belt switch still help with clearing the SRS light. I also have a high idle issue that also goes into a surging issue after about 30 seconds of engine running time. The revs bounce between 1500 and 2500 rpm, have you had this issue as well. Thanks for any advice you have on this.
make sure you have enough coolant
I just left the paper clip in the yellow box my Acura is a 2001 so I'm good.
@@biggsterbiggs5890 IT MAY GROUND OUT, BUT NOT NECESSARILY...DEPENDS ON THE MODULE
Next time try pointing the camera at the light. We obviously know what color anf disconnect means, but we need to know when to disconnect.
Will do, thanks!
I've a question when I first start driving my civic runs great but when it gets up to running temperature my chk.engine comes and my automatic transmission starts to slip what can that be
Wow, that's a tough one.....
@@MTLJack so you^ saying that you've no idea what's wrong?
WOW! MAY HV SOMETHING 2 DO W UR COMPUTER WHEN IT GOES 2 CLOSED LOOP...BUT NOT NECESSARILY...I NEVER SAW A TRANSMISSION TRIP/SIGNAL A CHECK ENGINE B4
First thing you do on ANY car is if the check engine light comes on you have those scanned and post those with your question helps us mechanics that want to help alot better. Transmission slipping when warned up is usually the transmission is going out. With most hondas nobody services the transmission due to more serviceable filter so its forgotten. Fluid is either low or pitch black meaning the transmission is overheating now due to the lubricity of the transmission fluid is no longer usable. Honda automatics are the weak link in the drivetrain. The v6 engines are worse on the transmissions. Properly serviced and flushed these will go forever. Lack of service means premature failure. If flushing from home doesn't work the transmission and torque converter are probably shot by now.
Could be a sign that your Ignition Knock (Detonation) Sensor is faulty and may need replacing.
worked great thanks
Perfect 👌

Anyone know where this plug is in 09 rdx
is it the same for honda crv 2008?
Give it a try and let me know buddy!
OK thanks dude, now hear weird little story. Two days ago I decided to start my car up, ready it moved went right into gear moved forward and backward for all of about 3 mins. I want put a couple of solanoids wanna try junk ward stuff know the ohms are 14=25 I'm old and broke think it maybe that I found a tyranny for it 499$ 3 year warranty and tree shipping I ask you should I try junkyard or tyranny please let me know okie Dokie your the man I just drive the damn thing
Dale Franklin how long do you plan on driving it/how many cars do you have? If you're worried and want less work and more security, buy a new one. That's my two cents
Sounds like you have a bad transmission. Happened to my friend. Honda civic 2004
@@MTLJack OK thanks guess I'm just going to look for a truck not older like 60,so 70s 80s got any suggestions on what kind of truck to look for
This makes no sense i paper clipped that exact wire my srs light stayed on and my check engine light started flashing so unless by some weird thing my 01 honda accord ex v6 has a different srs plug my light is stuck on and i have no idea how to shut it off
Hey man, thats because your problem is still there.
@@MTLJack yeah i said fk the paperclip used two wires worked like a charm
What about Honda prelude ?
Same thing!
Thank you
Once the light is off, if not fixed it could still stay off for days or weeks before coming on again.
If it comes back on, it means your problem Is not solved.
Does this method work on other cars? Say for a mitsubishi Colt 05?
No sorry
Gracias!!!
Thank u so much
Honda seatbelts have a lifetime warranty. If the buckle is faulty a Honda dealer will replace it for free.
I thought Honda guaranteed seat belts for their life of the vehicle. If you went to Honda would they give you a new one?
Should wrap a towel while you spray. Sh*t went all over the place. ;-)
I tried this on 2006 honda accord a couple of times but after the second time the light came back on like before instead of blinking twice. any suggestions please?
I'm about to try this on my 2006 Accord, did you ever get it figured out?
I will be doing same, any luck?
I cleaned the seat belt receptacle well on Friday and reset the jumper wires as in the video (the 2006 Accord's is in a bit different location). Afterward it was weird. As long as the seat belt was fastened before the car was started, the SRS light went out, but if it was disconnected at startup, or if you disconnected the SB after startup, the SRS would come back on and wouldn't go back out. Three days later I replaced my car battery, and the next time I started my car with the seat belt unfastened, I discovered that it the SRS system was working like it should! I can't be sure whether the battery change had anything to do with it or not, perhaps it just took a few days for the alcohol to completely dry up. However, if you try this and continue to have problems, you may want to try disconnecting the battery for 30 min, then reconnecting. Perhaps this acts like a hard reset??? Anyway, good luck... That pesky light is sure annoying!!!
@@robertburkey5789 your car battery was likely getting low
Doesn’t this mean u turned the light off but ur air bags still won’t deploy ?
No, this only resets the computer for the srs or airbag, the light is on when your airbag doesn't work.
I try it,an my light come bac on.wat do I do?
You need to fix your problem my friend :(
Would this fucken light couse me not to pass my smog check CA???
Not in IL so I assuming every where in the states. I had this light on and they passed me. If you engine light is on they will fail you right away with out doing a test. Anything with EFI error they will fail you. Stupid governments are everywhere!

Lol thank for the tip but is sad that, that a k20a3 cluster with a sir emblem on it...sir rev limiter will be 8,500 rpm not 6,700
You are crazy man, k20a3 does not have a redline of 8500 and second, this is a Canadian SiR 2002 hatchback. It is a stock cluster. Even Wikipedia will tell you the redlines LOL!! K20A jdm is the only one that reaches 8k rpm among the K series. Stock. And 8500??? This ain't a S2000.
You should of bought a new can of electrical cleaner
That is exactly what I used....
Should you be giving advice to people if you’re spraying WD-40 inside something that is wired into your electrical system inside your vehicle?
Its not a sensitive component that will disturb a reading like the mass airflow sensor or any sensors. This is just a 'on' switch that sends a 12v back saying the seat belt clipped on. It is far from considering it 'electrical system'.
