I don’t get the Justin Wilson hype. He hasn’t been good since 2019 but he is a guy with decent control and a good slider so that seems to be the model for Breslow and co. Definitely need help in the bullpen, a good starting rotation and batting lineup will get you to the playoffs but without a solid bullpen its hard to advance any farther.
It's never just about how good you are barring major injuries. You have to look at your competition and see who's gotten better or worse. We play in a really tough division. Our pitching is solid but can we produce enough runs consistently to win 90 games. If we don't add 1 or 2 more veteran bats are we gonna have enough confidence to win in the playoffs. Guys like Bregman, Alonzo, Scherzer, Correa, etc... would give us that edge. They didn't get Soto so why are they not adding more talent? I think currently constructed we have to wonder if we are going to get solid contributions from guys like Story, Raffaela, Casas and whoever fills out the outfield. O'Neil is gone so maybe R. Anthony, Raffaela and Abreu along with Duran. That is the biggest question mark. The defense should be good but offensive production is the question if you don't add a few bats. We still have a few young guys coming up that might be superstars so we might have to wait 1 more year for everything to fall into place. You get anxious and you want to sign who's available but maybe there's better deals out there with patience like V. Guerrero instead of Pete Alonzo for example.
As is, without any additions 89-91 wins in my opinion. The only thing that could stop their season is player availability. Just Casas alone could make up the 30 Hrs that left. I have a good feeling that the combo of Grissom and Hamilton will do well at 2nd. Now each injury that Story has had to deal with has been pretty wild to say the least. I'm rooting for him to stay safe and play some defense and hit league average for 130 games. What they have in the pen is not bad to start out with and if Sandoval joins them in the second half to work his way back, could be a boost. But in realness I would really like them to sign another closer or trade for one. And I feel pretty comfortable going into a playoff series if Bello is the game four starting pitcher.
I’d say we are a playoff team but we still need a right handed bat who can replace O’Neills production. I also think we need to ad maybe one more bullpen arm at least and I’ll be happy
I truly do believe with 100% certainty. This position player group is fine. Idk why we're even bothering with Bregman or Arenado anymore. Get one reliever and we ride
Our starting staff is pretty solid, but there are quite a few teams that have a more solid staff. I just hope they will rise up and dominate the other teams. I would have more faith in them to go all the way, if we had a true experienced ace with no injury worries. We are godd enough to make the post season, but I am not sure about going all the way.
In my humble opinion, The red sox NEED to stay healthy, so they need a new strength and conditioning coach. They've had far too many injuries the past couple of years, and if they can stay relatively healthy , they have have a good shot to at least get the wild card spot. Nice video Corbin 😃 U r the ONLY Red Sox Channel I listen too BC ur the real deal
I can’t help but picture Beuhler pitching against the Yankees in the playoffs and how he dominated them. I hope to see more of that! As far as the season goes, we also have to keep in mind that even if we don’t land all the pieces we need before the season starts, we could definitely make a nice couple additions near the deadline for the bullpen (plus we are getting Sandoval that could slot into the rotation or bullpen). I don’t see Bregman happening and maybe I’m sorely mistaken but I honestly think it’ll be seitan Suzuki who we trade for
I agree but I do think we’ll get breggy bc the tigers are not going to offer enough money (if they were then they would’ve by now) and the Red Sox could easily give him a 5-6 year deal
I agree. I think they would have been in the playoffs last year if not for the significant injuries to Casas/Story/Giolito/Whitlock/Grissom. Those were huge losses that, like you say up front, you couldn’t plan for. Even O’Neil wasn’t a full time asset… imagine 140-150 games out of him. I don’t think he has it so the Orioles get to find out. I do think the Sox have made HUGE strides in player development the past few years and past year on the pitching side was legitimately the best pitching growth I ever remember for the Sox. They were in it with those injuries until they simply ran out of gas without the depth. This roster is better. I see Playoffs. I also see a team that will surprise people, just like last year.
Starting rotation has questions, but also enough depth and ceiling where not everything has to go perfectly. Agree that the pen needs one more high leverage arm. Even without adding a right hand bat from the outside, I think the existing lineup, if healthy, can deliver. The one area your analysis did not hit upon was the infield defense. Story will help. He is the lynchpin. But 2nd is still an unknown. Casas and Raffy are what they are defensively. I would also like to see the Sox add a veteran defense first catcher who can grunt and scowl at Wong whenever he goofs up on framing or blocking.
I really think they are a playoff team. The start rotation is much better. There were a lot of injuries last year especially with Story and Giolito who were their 2 highest paid players. The young players are a year older. Casas will be back. If they have injuries, they are a much deeper team.
Question to the comment section, minus big free agent Right handed bat, despite their age but great careers and knowledge, Id be content with bringing back Justin Turner or JD Martinez to sublet DH at bats until Yoshida is 100% or the matchup, great video corbin!
I think the Red Sox look great in the starting rotation. I definitely think we’re good enough to make the playoffs. What do you think if we picked up a Verlander or a Max Scherzer to put in our bullpen as long relievers?
I do think it’s fair to assume Story will miss time only because during his contract with the Sox he’s been off the field more than he’s been on it. Plan to have him but be prepared to move on too. I am curious if Ceddane start to struggle again do they send him down? I could see it for Anthony.
We are a playoff contender but a lot has to go right. Crochet has never pitched more than 150 innings and Buehler is a couple years removed from being a top half of the rotation pitcher. If pitching is what it could be then playoff contender.
I agree with you Corbin on paper yes they can make it to the playoffs they would never be able to pull off a World Series win with the team they have right now and yes you are right they definitely need to add another Bullpen arm that is quality and they most definitely need some type of power bat that is right-handed and then I think they would be a definite playoff contention team but without adding anything else to the bullpen and without another right-handed power bat they will go nowhere and that is not what we were promised they said they would be willing to go for a uncomfortable signing they said they were going to go all out at all cost to improve this team to bring them to World Series contention and they most definitely have not done that it was all just a bunch of hype from the front office like they always do and a bunch of stories to get us all excited and then they do nothing yes they've made a few additions but these additions that they made are not going to get us into a quality playoff position and a World Series win most definitely not
The Sox have elevated themselves to the level of being talked about as a potential wildcard team as late as mid-September. Promising big things then under delivering is not going to win a lot of love for owners.
First objective, playing over .500 for the first time since 2021... Also, since the AL East seems to have weakened a bit maybe that gives the Red Sox a better chance to sneak in.
If things go as planned, I think the Sox have a chance. I don’t know how realistic it would be to assume Duran will produce at the same level, we’re still missing O’Neil’s production. I hope the Boston doesn’t improve their rotation and have a worse offense, then break even with wins and losses. The defense is still unchanged as well.
Duran was advised half way through the season to lay off the stolen bags, the injury risk was there and I do think he was hurt at the tail end there. He’s 28 now I think so I hope he leans more towards hitting hard for power and not wearing out his legs.
Yes. I have faith in the young core of this team and think they addressed Starting Pitching depth that hurt them in the 2nd half. My one issue with them would be the bullpen. Primarily, the back end. I think middle relief will figure itself out with the starters they’ve acquired. It’s just the back end of the bullpen. Also , please stop with the Bregman stuff guys. It’s a terrible contract that’ll age like milk. Yes, it would’ve been great if they added a RH bat. But they didn’t and let Tyler O’Neil walk 🤷🏻♂️
from a starting pitching rotation standpoint yeah we’ll make the playoffs. right now i just don’t know and i might lean more towards no. we need a damn bullpen BAD and he also need a proven vet right handed bat. if we get then yeah playoffs are in
Predictions are pointless but here goes: if they stay healthy and the 26 man roster performs at or near career averages by most of the team they are likely slotting between the 2nd and 3rd wildcard team. Many good things need to happen but it's above 50% I believe
As a Yankee fan I say definitely Boston is a playoff team. You guys are ahead of Baltimore to me now. Get a righthanded bat, realize Raffaela is a utility player, and another solid BP arm and I say 92 wins is definitely there. Let Bregman go elsewhere..Why Boston and even the Yankees have not been in on Tanner Scott is beyond me.
I would want a trade with arenado . Give the cards yoshida and eat most of the contract and send them a top 30 prospect . Idk how I feel about giving bregman 190-200 million and 6 years . When we have Meyer and cambell in the minors
Barring a catastrophic injury wave, we make the wild card round with this lineup. We’d be Swept in it, but we’d at least play october baseball. Campbell and anthony would probably both need ROY caliber seasons to get us farther. A solid righty raises the floor so much. Easy ALCS contenders at minimum. It’s such a good window too. The yankess lost so much and just cannot stop adding over the hill former superstars. The O’s have decided to move 14 letters up the alphabet because their GM is an egomaniac, the Astros lose two massive pieces, the Al Central is the AL Central, the path to a deep run has never been easier. But ownership has yet to “get uncomfortable” when it comes to the pocketbook. They’ve got Breslow running around like he’s still on the Rays, they haven’t even made an OFFER to Bregman because they KNOW he’d take any remotely reasonable one (not a lotta guys lining up to be toronto blue jays for the next half decade) and they just don’t want to spend. Maddening when we’re truly so close.
The Sox are definitely a playoff team! They need to keep adding to the bullpen! I'd like them to trade for Tanner Scott and a reliable keep Chris Martin! The lineup will be better then last year!
If they all remain off the IL and play as a unit... we're going to witness something special 🙏 a healthy Hendricks and Whitlock to close out games would be 🔥🔥🔥
I think Whitlock is coming back with a new mindset and imo will be sneaky good! I expect he surprises the league being near unhittable. Time will tell but that's my gut feeling.
Corbin, I just looked at several payroll tables and the one thing you can say is that the Red Sox have unbelievable control over their current roster. Multiple year contracts and arbitration eligible guys with a few exceptions. If a few more young guys evolve and we add a few more top players we could be a juggernaut for years to come. Having 7 or 8 potential starters means the overflow guys will help an already strong bullpen. Our needs will reveal themselves as the season progresses and we have enough firepower to make deals at the deadline.
Certainly a lot of "ifs". I am okay with playing the kids and seeing if they live up to the hype. Some of the FA pool guys are not worth the big money/long contracts. I would like a bigger righty bat, but it was about being better against lefties and I wouldn't block someone like Campbell or Anthony to do it. Dumping Yoshida could be the key. On the fence about Bregman. Spending the money sounds great, but Burnes wanted to be closer to home, Teoscar Hernandez wanted to go back to LA (surprise!), etc. Maybe a trade for a RH bat, there's time, the trade deadline is a possibility if they are in it. They should be. And maybe they are saving money for a deadline deal or Vlad next year?.
I think we could be as good as a 95 win team. The AL has gotten much worse this offseason and we got better. If our young guys progress even a little we are a world series contender. The only thing I'm worried about is closer.
alot of the problem with the bullpen last year came from a lack of depth. To put it bluntly, they flat up were worn out by the all star game. This came about simply because The rotation wasn't consistent in going past 4-5 innings and Cora had limited options when he turned to the bull pen. There were only a hand full of arms out there that he felt comfortable bringing into games. Right now I doubt they can compete with NY for the division. 88, 89 maybe 90 wins... and that only if they are able to stay healthy. They need to get off the shitter, pony up the money and sign Bregman!
Don’t mean to be a snitch lol, but there’s a guy named 3PointJames on RUclips that stole your thumbnail for his most recent Vlad Jr. video. Just came across it and thought you should know
People need to remember that they didn’t sign Walker to be 2019 version. These days a realistic expecting of good value is 130+ innings hopefully can average 5 innings per start. He’s still got it in the tank.
Could they be a wild card team? Sure, but thats not what ownership said that they were aspiring to be. I'm so tired of being lied to by kennedy and reading reports that they were "finalists" for soto and that they would sign one if not two of the top free agent pitchers. They said that they would now spend because their farm system justified it yet they traded away 25% of their top prospects to get the best player that they acquired this off season. It was nice to be spoiled as a fan knowing that they were always trying to be competitive for years even though they weren't always in the best position to win. They just simply don't do what they say and this is like being in a very unhealthy relationship
They killed the catching position by trading Teel. He is going to make them look very bad for trading him. They are very weak bench wise with 1B backup is a huge hole and question mark.
The Yankees may be better than last year despite losing Soto. I can’t figure out Baltimore… so much talent but so far no real key additions (O’Neill is a step down from Santander). Tampa could be good… a lot of key pitchers coming back from injury. Toronto is just sad at the moment.

What if beuhler pitch in game 7 of the Alcs will it follow the vibes of Pedro Martinez
Signing Bregman would be a step in the right direction because of his excellent defense and his swing, which is made for Fenway.
I see
Playoffs.
I agree with a wild card birth. If players take a bigger step forward than expected then maybe a step furthermore
I think the Red Sox look great in the starting rotation. I definitely think we’re good enough to make the playoffs. What do you think if we picked up a Verlander or a Max Scherzer to put in our bullpen as long relievers?
Curt Schilling briefly was the closer in Boston so I guess its possible.
Max Scherzer would be interesting, but I'd see if he could a closer. He has a bulldog type mentality
@ agree
Yes
I do think it’s fair to assume Story will miss time only because during his contract with the Sox he’s been off the field more than he’s been on it. Plan to have him but be prepared to move on too. I am curious if Ceddane start to struggle again do they send him down? I could see it for Anthony.
I think we can be a 90-93 game winner if healthy
Best I believe a 500 team and Patrick Sandoval is mediocre at best , and they have not done anything to fix their awful defense.
@ I wasn’t even thinking about him. Have you seen our SP rotation as of now. Pretty good
Can't wait for Hendricks
Sign alex Bregman and they will be a playoff team
If 2 of the 3 sp come back decent after Tommy John then we will be good
I would love to get Jeff Hoffman but he wants to sign as a starting pitcher
We are a playoff contender but a lot has to go right. Crochet has never pitched more than 150 innings and Buehler is a couple years removed from being a top half of the rotation pitcher. If pitching is what it could be then playoff contender.
Wildcard - baseball
i think the sox floor by the end of the offseason is last years record and their ceiling is 92ish bc the division got way worse
They need to get Bregman for that RH bat to balance lineup as well as get Raffy out from 3B and let him DH full time.
I’ll take Bergman at second Trade Abreu and Grissom sign Bergman were are loaded
We are loaded
They might be a wildcard team.
Dude ---- Tigers --- Dhaa ,,,, total Rookie team ,,, no worries on sox position players
A good athletic right handed bat Little bit like Cedenna lest strikeouts Who can Play a good defense not another DH
First objective, playing over .500 for the first time since 2021... Also, since the AL East seems to have weakened a bit maybe that gives the Red Sox a better chance to sneak in.
But if they are a wild card team they have to worry about the royals, twins , tigers or maybe the mariners to fight for the spot
As bad as last year was they did have some nice stretches . It did wind up .500
If things go as planned, I think the Sox have a chance.
Not yet I think they need to get a RH power bat then we see the BP needs a couple more arms they are def better.
Imagine if the owners weren't cheap? We would be fighting for World Series instead of trying to sneak in through the wild card.
How come the socks didn't try to get Kim?? Great defense, decent bat and the price was right!!
from a starting pitching rotation standpoint yeah we’ll make the playoffs. right now i just don’t know and i might lean more towards no. we need a damn bullpen BAD and he also need a proven vet right handed bat. if we get then yeah playoffs are in
Predictions are pointless but here goes: if they stay healthy and the 26 man roster performs at or near career averages by most of the team they are likely slotting between the 2nd and 3rd wildcard team.
I think they are a playoff team, but not a WS contender. I really wanted Teoscar... Oh well... I'd definitely would add a legitimate back end guy.
I’d love to see Kim at second. Improving defense should be top goal now.
They need to make up their mind if they want him to be a starter or in the bullpen, this in between crap messes up players.
Yes. I predict 2nd place in the East, unless they make another big move to jump ahead of NY.
John Henry is willing to spend unlike Hal
@@Frankieefootballmundial I hope you are right.
Definitely make the playoffs if we was to add mike trout
Yes a playoff team
I count 10 or 11 starters
I think we could be as good as a 95 win team. The AL has gotten much worse this offseason and we got better. If our young guys progress even a little we are a world series contender. The only thing I'm worried about is closer.
If the over under was 85.5 right now, I would bet the over.
The hell with it sign Bergman 200$ million
Too cheap for that
Please tell them Don’t trade Casis. Nuts if they do. We have lots of talent down there
I need to see a right handed bat better than Tyler O Neil to say yes
They might not be a play off team they need to add RH bat with a switch hitter bat to many LH hitter in the line up
Probably
alot of the problem with the bullpen last year came from a lack of depth.
3rd wild card spot is where I believe they fall
Yes to playoff team but not able to compete for the big show yet!! Too many?????? With players still need a booster.!!
Sox are currently a “playoff team” right now
Biggest problem is they are in the AL East, definitely the best division in baseball.
Only the NL East could give the AL East a “run for their money”…..
@@bkh8528 the rays and jays both look like sub .500 teams right now
Could they be a wild card team?
We are losing a lot of Strike outs losing O Neil
I like Tyler O'Neil but there are better fits.
Fire John "FOS" Henry, same old story no spend money... And health is important..
Or both
We are all playoff teams before the season begins. The pain hasn't begun yet.
Why aren't we bringing Chris Martin back???? Huge mistake if we allow him to leave.
Agreed.
