I think one of the most important things is to explore areas outside of Zona Sul. There are so many amazing beaches, cities, towns, and nature areas. I love Florinapolis, Vitoria, Vila Velha, Sao Paolo, Macae, Sana, and I want to explore more.
You need to do a video on the Zona Norte. Praca Varnhagen, especially after a good soccer game at Maracana between Tuesday and Thursday is off the hook.
I haven’t been back to Rio since 2018 (use to go there regularly and even stayed a year in Rio)…you mention in your video that Tuesdays are quiet - I remember there was this place that was very popular on Tuesdays called Canastra in Ipanema on Rua Jangadeiros very close to Plaza General Osório…this was one of my favourite hole in the wall spots to party and pick up some of the hottest chics.
There's a Canastra in Leblon, one of my favourite spots in Rio earlier this year and awesome staff. Shout out to Swedish Gringo too for all his videos.
Sounds like an interesting video. I do have one request however: It may be biased to hear from you directly since you're in Rio. But I would liketo know how the rest of Brazillians act and behave around the rest of the country, particularly along the coast line. Im informed that people in Rio are different to the rest.
I’ve made dozens of videos from other places, including a bunch from the coastal cities in the northeast and southeast. In general, people are extremely polite and friendly but a little less wild than cariocas. I persobally LOVE the northeast
Brazilian here. Agree with SG, Rio is usually wild. Other places, like southern, may be boring if you are looking for parties. Northeast is party+party+party. In terms of safety, there’s crime to deal with - unfortunately - but in most cases, being careful, avoiding certain areas, not showing you have any $, avoiding certain hours out (like late night or early mornings), stay where there are more tourists (usually more police), tag along some Brazilians, don’t show your electronics - you should be fine. Most crime (except the ones among gangsxgangs, gangsxpolice) are crime of opportunity. If a criminal is in same location as you and see they can rob you, they will. That’s true for big cities. Small towns are usually more relaxed and crime is more related to drugs/drug dealers.
@SwedishGringo What should someone do if they want to go to Brasil but dont have strong faith and worry they will do the sins, due to many incitement?
Oh my friend, I really can’t answer that. In my eyes it would not be a sin if you both want it and you don’t have a relationship (and don’t pay for it). But it’s totally possible to just be friends with Brazilians too ☀️🇧🇷
There is no better place in the world for a single young guy... I speak from experience and having lived in Rio for 7 years. The girls are so easy to approach and the city is just lots of fun. I remember "happy hour" nightclubs in Centro Tuesday - Thursday which ended around midnight where locals would go with their co-workers after work.....so even during the week, it was happening. Ended up marrying a Paulista and moving back to the US due to work. When my wife moved from Sao Paulo to Rio to live with me her family freaked out about the safety concerns - the funny thing is that almost all the Paulista I met were assaulted themselves at one point in Sao Paulo but are more scared about Rio.
That was partially true a while back - they had sewage problems at the Leblob end of Ipanema beach. It has been resolved ✔️ (But Botafogo and Flamengo beach are not used for swimming anymore).
@@DISCOVER_T His luck is that barely anyone in Copacabana knows what a Rolex looks like. In some Leblon restaurants, unfortunately there are “specialized” muggers who look out for Rolexes
5:29 Probably the gentleman on the beach wears blinkers and headphones, but to say that there are no gringos in Rio is an exaggeration. Rio receives 2 million foreign tourists a year and most of them go to the beach. I just came back from Rio and the presence of foreign tourists was evident. They don't stay for months like in Colombia because Rio is more expensive, but there are definitely Europeans and Americans. Not to mention the security talk. 🤦🏻♂️ They almost tried to steal my cell phone while I was sitting in one of the many bars in Copacabana in broad daylight. For every 1 Brazilian that said Rio wasn't that dangerous, there are 100 other Brazilians that will say that it is dangerous. Any gringo making friends with the locals will hear it often. Also, the safety argument by the black guy was misleading. Everywhere doesn't have the same level of risk - some places are much more dangerous than others.
I agree cariocas in general warn about the dangers. I think the reason more tourists say it’s not that dangerous is because they are mentally prepared for a worse scenario. Whereas the locals are forced to put up with insecurity in their daily life, every day.
