    Acabo de regresar de Rio y tú fuiste mi inspiración!! Aunque me faltó conocer el aspecto de fiesta de la ciudad debo decir que en familia también se disfruta mucho, Río no solo es Copacabana, es Ipanema, Botafogo, vermehela y otras mil playas que no se conocen, el centro de la ciudad también es increíble, lo es también la zona donde está el museo del mañana, el acuario y la gran rueda de la fortuna, así que Río esa una ciudad para todos los gustos!!

    It may be biased to hear from you directly since you're in Rio. But I would liketo know how the rest of Brazillians act and behave around the rest of the country, particularly along the coast line. Im informed that people in Rio are different to the rest.

    • @SwedishGringo
      @SwedishGringo  Год назад +3

      I’ve made dozens of videos from other places, including a bunch from the coastal cities in the northeast and southeast. In general, people are extremely polite and friendly but a little less wild than cariocas. I persobally LOVE the northeast

    • @MariaAlmeida-u8l
      @MariaAlmeida-u8l Год назад

      Brazilian here.
      Agree with SG, Rio is usually wild. Other places, like southern, may be boring if you are looking for parties. Northeast is party+party+party.
      In terms of safety, there’s crime to deal with - unfortunately - but in most cases, being careful, avoiding certain areas, not showing you have any $, avoiding certain hours out (like late night or early mornings), stay where there are more tourists (usually more police), tag along some Brazilians, don’t show your electronics - you should be fine. Most crime (except the ones among gangsxgangs, gangsxpolice) are crime of opportunity. If a criminal is in same location as you and see they can rob you, they will. That’s true for big cities. Small towns are usually more relaxed and crime is more related to drugs/drug dealers.

    There is no better place in the world for a single young guy... I speak from experience and having lived in Rio for 7 years. The girls are so easy to approach and the city is just lots of fun. I remember "happy hour" nightclubs in Centro Tuesday - Thursday which ended around midnight where locals would go with their co-workers after work.....so even during the week, it was happening. Ended up marrying a Paulista and moving back to the US due to work. When my wife moved from Sao Paulo to Rio to live with me her family freaked out about the safety concerns - the funny thing is that almost all the Paulista I met were assaulted themselves at one point in Sao Paulo but are more scared about Rio.

    5:29 Probably the gentleman on the beach wears blinkers and headphones, but to say that there are no gringos in Rio is an exaggeration. Rio receives 2 million foreign tourists a year and most of them go to the beach. I just came back from Rio and the presence of foreign tourists was evident. They don't stay for months like in Colombia because Rio is more expensive, but there are definitely Europeans and Americans.
    Not to mention the security talk. 🤦🏻‍♂️ They almost tried to steal my cell phone while I was sitting in one of the many bars in Copacabana in broad daylight. I was sitting and my cell phone was in my pocket - Loucura.

    For every 1 Brazilian that said Rio wasn't that dangerous, there are 100 other Brazilians that will say that it is dangerous. Any gringo making friends with the locals will hear it often.
    Also, the safety argument by the black guy was misleading. Everywhere doesn't have the same level of risk - some places are much more dangerous than others.

    • @SwedishGringo
      @SwedishGringo  Год назад +5

      I agree cariocas in general warn about the dangers. I think the reason more tourists say it’s not that dangerous is because they are mentally prepared for a worse scenario. Whereas the locals are forced to put up with insecurity in their daily life, every day.

    Alcohol and music induced happiness is not natural happiness.
    You have to be happy from within. South America runs on dopamine, which make it fake happiness. In real life struggles Brazilians are different people. Happiness is when you find real friends who will back you up and willing to risk their lives for you, and you for them.
    Also Rio is dangerous, you can never be too careful there. Go to suburbs as a lone gringo and find out.
    Say something wrong about their country, a football player, politics.....etc and they rip you apart in 2 seconds. They are friendly as long going is good. Once push comes to shove you see how violent and aggressive they can get. Be careful. Things can go bipolar in 2 seconds, specially while drinking. Remember, you are a foreigner in their eyes and a guest. Don't push your luck. Call me crazy.

    It’s safe as long as it doesn’t happen to you
    Hard fact of life
    Those who experience ask them how dangerous it’s
    Generally people don’t like to tell even if they’re robbed
    Police is useless because of obvious reasons. Asking Brazilian girls about safety ? Really
    These girls are clueless about criminals after vast experience I don’t believe others opinions and one must be Rio street smart before it’s gone
    Scopolamine is being used in Latin countries
    In bogota on an average 109 tourist / day are going through such attacks. Rio and São Paulo are no different
    Hard fact Victims don’t speak because of various reasons

    • @SwedishGringo
      @SwedishGringo  Год назад +1

      That’s true. Although I’ve been robbed two times in Rio and still refuse to call it dangerous. With some smarts and by avoiding some areas chance of bad things happening is low.

    "you have to take care like in city around the world" - I hate this useless and meaningless cliche. Rio is not like any city around the world in terms of safety. Women drugging men is almost unheard of in Western Europe and no taxi driver is going to kidnap you for money. Brazil's crime rate is on another level entirely. Taking precautions in London, Berlin or Athens is one thing; taking precautions in Rio is completely another thing.

      Hm … that’s a tough one! Rio will give you the biggest mix since it’s so many people visiting. Brazilians themselves claim Floripa has the most beautiful women (they look a little more european). I’d rather flip the question: I haven’t been anywhere in Brazil where girls are not pretty ☀️
