Absolute legend!!!! Earlier I never knew who Totos singer actually was but know that Ive learned its mr.Bobby Kimball, I salute u SIR and wish u all the best.
We just have to be thankful for what he did do, we still have the recordings so it will always be there. In his prime he was the man, it cannot be taken away.
Love Bobby, it must have been tough touring with him coz he's so full on in everything he does , what a legendary voice and a gentle soul. Wish you well Bobby, you're a legend ❤
Bobby Kimball had what I call a vocal gift of god!!! My opinion, cuz everyone is different, top 5 of entire late 70s, early, to mid 80s. He had a awesome voice. Toto's 3 major hits, like he says his voice!!!!! Prayers and thanks to a legendary band, with a legendary front man!!! I jam hold the line at work every day
According to Steve Porcaro 👉 Bobby Kimball was NOT fired because of the drug charges. The charges were made in 1981 and were thrown out of court later . Kimball was fired in 1984 because (1) When the sessions for ISOLATION started, Kimball was often unable to be found for days because he was on a cocaine binge . (2) When he did show up for the rehearsals because of so much cocaine abuse. He just couldn't sing. The cocaine wiped his voice out. I believe Steve Porcaros explanation. It makes the most sense.
Exactly. Back then, they were all partying, but they were still professionals in the studio. After Toto 4, Bobby's drug use impacted his singing, so they had to fire him. This interview is sad because you can tell he's slipping and a little delusional. My favorite Bobby track is "Goodbye Girl"
@@MikaelLV Joe did cocaine and he got a cold on the SEVENTH ONE TOUR. He lost his voice on the VERY first night of that tour and didn't recover. The band after Williams was fired tried to get back with Kimball and recorded GOING HOME for the PAST TO PRESENT 1977-1990 Compilation CD. The studio executives hated the song 🎵 and forced the band to take Byron instead of Kimball which ended up a mitigated disaster also.
I love the man! Hold the Line has been in my personal top 10 FOREVER. I was born in 1978 so Toto was there throughout whole my life! I adore Bobby for his passion and presence! I adore Toto, Steve, Joseph, David, Jeff .. Legends! Heroes! Thank you Bobby Sir! For giving us your heart ❤you guys are in mine 🙏

Bobby is such a super kool guy, you can tell he would just sit in a hotel lobby and just starting singing because he wanted to make people happy. BOBBY KIMBALL IS ROCK AND ROLLL
He did that. We were at the Westin in GA. He started singing Georgia in full voice David Paich was playing the baby grand. He’s the sweetest man ever.❤

Of two minds about his quotes here. Bobby and the rest of Toto have a tumultuous relationship and obviously Bobby has a chip on his shoulder about it, but he makes a good point that Toto never had bigger hits after his exit. I'm a Toto superfan, and I love all of their records (some more than others), but Bobby was the key to their success in the mainstream. The post-Bobby Toto is for musician's musicians like myself.
I love Bobby in the original band of Toto. I know they have misunderstanding with each other. I heartly love him in the orig group. i am a die heart of TOTO. Sad to hear my heartly idol Mike Jeff pass away and i dont want Bobby to loss the orig band group. Your all my IDOL in my life ❤❤❤🙏🙏
Even though Bobby Kimball left Toto in 1984. Toto started work on the next album ISOLATION while Bobby was still a band member. Despite Fergie Fredericksen being the new singer on that album. The band wisely left Kimballs voice/vocals on the chorus and background on about 5 songs on the finished product of that album. As a solid fan I knew his voice whenever I heard him so I wasn't surprised but very, very thrilled. 😃 😊 😀 😄 😁 😆 😃 😊 😀 😄 😁 😆
Yeah they kind of glossed over that. The guys in Toto didn't want to let him go, but he kept missing recording sessions. He cleaned up and reunited with them for a ten year run starting in 1998 and they produced a few good albums and several successful tours.
Bobby Kimball powerful voice legend ❤ love from malacca Malaysia 🇲🇾🙏🌍 toto is nothing without Bobby Kimball. Bobby Kimball is the one who made the band famous. Toto kicked out bobby that is their lost
Ok but he wasn't fired over a drug charge. He was fired because he did a lot of drugs and that impacted his ability to sing and show up for studio work. He was an incredible talent but his demons got the best of him.
It's great that after living in Los Angeles and traveling around the world for 40+ years he still hasn't completely lost his Cajun accent. I can go ahead and say it, because I'm one of them too, but that's what we call a Coon Ass down in Louisiana. If you weren't from here you'd think he was from South Africa or maybe some little Eastern bloc country. That accent comes from Americans who grew up speaking Cajun/Creole French, then learned English later. My parents are the same age as Bobby and they had to learn English in school. Maybe Hollywood should consult some real people before they completely botch what they think a Cajun or N'Awlins accent sounds like. We still speak our French regularly all around South Louisiana from East to West, btw. Anyway, good job Bobby. Way to be a good representative for Cajuns! Ca c'est un bon homme oui.
When old guys like me (63) go out to hear our favorite artists like Toto, Steely Dan, McCartney, etc. We have an automatic sound mixer in our head that combines the first time we heard them, with the best time we heard and then finally that concert in the now. My daughter is still gracious enough to go to a lot of shows with me and as I always point out to her, that when The Foo Fighters or Dave Matthews are old and start playing a residency in Las Vegas some day, she will be glad to go see them. Music is wonderful, because it can live inside of you forever.
There, he had the pipes as in: he could hit the notes with a reasonably powerful sounding voice, it's just that he didn't quite have the control and tastefulness. Sounding a bit like a beginner rather than a deteriorated pro.
When Bobby was in his prime there was almost no singers that could touch him. I wish him good health.
Amazing voice. From all the tales I’ve heard, it took many, many more takes for Bobby to get his parts down as opposed to his studio counterparts.
No Fergie also had trouble in the studio as well.

I think Steve Walsh is especially underrated. Always like to see some love there.
Yes agreed and Steve Walsh is one of my favourites ever

Do you mean Lou Gramm, the singer from Foreigner?
Throw Brad Delp on that list for christ sakes. He s as massively talented and influential as the aforementioned.
