    President's are good good stuff! I've always like their quality too, as long as they use them softer/thin mic cords too, LOL. =D

    I know it is odd to notice but the Chinese and Asians are VERY capable of building high quality gear! (I believe ALL cell phones are made in China or Vietnam.) Understand they will build whatever the contracting company specifies. Some don't care and make them cheap and cut corners. It would seem that President (France) does care about quality and are using good modern engineering practices. Times are changing.

    Very helpful! I wanted something I can put in a rental vehicle quick and easy when traveling. Add a cigarette plug, magnetic mount antenna and its ready. Small footprint with my 2 wanted feature; scanning and weather.

    Now that you've pointed it out about the permanent attached power cord, that's another reason I love my J.C. Penney's single sideband radio. It has the same power cord for 120 V. ac as it does for the 12 V. cord. It has an interchangeable power cord--one for 120 V. ac and another one for 12 V. dc.

    I had a President Washington back in the day...really liked that radio, it was my second most favorite radio right behind my Teaberry Stalker base, and really, it tied for second place with my Radio Shack TRC-457, but the Teaberry had much better adjacent rejection. Had Teaberry in all my vehicles as well. Was able to talk to my friend across town with someone parked in my driveway talking using a 150 watt amp shooting skip at the time. That impressed me more than any claims by the manufacturer. I had many different cb radios at the time, had Royce, Pierce-Simpson, Pace, Midland, Hy Gain, and probably some others that I don't remember. The Royce was a rather unique radio in the way that it had it's selector knob, and the pace was a really great talking radio, but with not great rejection. Same with the Hy Gain. The midland kept frying the final(no mods), and so I had a lot of radios to compare with the Teaberry and the TRC-457. The other base radio that was SSB that I liked was a Pierce-Simpson Bengal. While it did not have the rejection of the Teaberry or the TRC-457, It was close, and had a really great audio sound to the stations I talked to.
    I also had several tube type base radios that I loved. CAM 88, Johnson 223, Lafayette, Gem/Robyn. Browning Golden Eagle, and others...sigh. Some of them you can't even find on ebay...and always wanted to buy a CPI, it was supposed to be the best CB ever made...not sure about that, but to this day I wish I had managed to lay hands on one.

    I just noticed the specs on Presidents website shows NO NB only ANL on this model. But the faceplate and display clearly show it has a noise blanker.

    On the cords it’s all about the coating (rubber) that covers the wiring.

    am modulation only??? oooohhh come on,,, we live on 2018 not on 1965... in europe usally said cb r's - '' cb with no fm mod , is a half cb -'' cause the 90% of cbr's talks in fm those days.President's are made good good stuff(on cb tranceivers) but if want to sell more cb tranceivers in european countries, must to re-think about fm(mod).Not everyone wants SSB. and That doesn’t necessarily mean that AM only is garbage. but usally people in europe talks in Fm in '' those days '' (( this is my opinion)) and always with respect for president's models

      This radio is for sale in the USA where FM is not allowed. If you want one with FM go to the European President website. They have a bunch of radios there that are not available in the USA and are AM/FM or AM/FM/SSB.

      You can buy the Harry iii which is AM FM. I have the Harry iii radio which I really like and performs well. I live in the UK and have talked in to USA many times on my Harry iii with great reports. I like they have made an AM only RADIO too as I only use AM. I am going to purchase this radio also as I really like it.

    I just enjoy electronic design troubleshooting and was in the CB radios as a kid back in the Smokey and Bandit days. But everytime I hear what's on CB radio it's just such a turn-off. The only radio I'm going to talk on is ham bands.

    Is it legal to have the president Lincoln converted to 11meters so you have 10,11 and 2 meters on the same radio?

    • @mikesradiorepair
      @mikesradiorepair  5 лет назад +2

      It's not the conversion that's illegal. It's using it on bands it's not authorized on. So listening to 11 meters is OK but the instant you transmit your breaking the law because the radio is not certified for use on that band.

    Do you recall the rule number making skip legal? I've heard this, but would like to see the actual official documentation.

    • @mikesradiorepair
      @mikesradiorepair  6 лет назад

      There is no law allowing skip communications. That part of the regulations that prohibited it was removed.

    legal to have roger beeps on FCC approved radios now?

    • @mikesradiorepair
      @mikesradiorepair  6 лет назад

      Yep, it was added to the last rules change. "95.977 CBRS (CB Radio Service) transmitter types may be designed to transmit brief tones to indicate the beginning or end of a transmission."

    yet another useless doorstop, (am only = recycle can) no SSB i wont even consider it......

    • @loctite222ms

      I think for some that are tending to be just appliance operators, they won't want to be bothering to fine tuning SSB. More technical personalities don't mind using the clarifier. Pretty sure the AMers still outnumber the SSBers. I understand the technical advantages with bandwidth, etc.

      You guys dont think very much, do you? Not everyone is a hobbyist talking on ssb. Lots of folks USE these radios for various applications, where ssb isnt needed, or even practicle. Just because you have no desire for it due to lack of ssb, does not mean others cant use it. C'mon, use your noggin.
