ty. i just wish i could turn back time right now, to undo, or never do, the damage i did to my family and friends, when i was so deep into my alcoholism. this video, with bailey, was emotional and hit home. i spent the last week with my older sister, who through no fault of her own, took the brunt of my alcoholism. and now when i see her, i get lost in my head, thinking and wondering and knowing she still remembers all the nasty stuff i said to her. she has not really forgiven me, and i know, deep down, she still harbours anger and sadness. it may be too late for us. we live 1000's of miles apart, so we will have some type of long-distance relationship, going forward. she is 61. i am 59. @@chickensdontsurf

You friend has incredible insight as well. Also I can totally relate to the “Jekyll and Hyde” shifts in personality under the influence. I was often a complete different person when I blacked out. Almost a polar opposite to myself sober.

Thank you, Bailey!!! Someone said once alcohol makes you just be more of YOU.... but nope, it turns you into someone else sometimes. Things you would never think or say or do, ever ever, you will do it if you get enough of the right kind of liquor in you. The stories I heard about myself, and about my brother.... my gosh. That's why it's just best, usually, to just not hang out with the same people when you quit. It's hard on everyone, and nice to have a clean slate in life. We don't get that very often, but it's helpful. Thank you so much for this video, and going more in depth about all that alcohol can do to a person, not just the liver.

I too worked at golf and country clubs for 24years of my 40 plus years in food & bev! Now idk what kind of establishment your discussing here but private or even public workplaces, especially private, well then everybody knows your business, no doubt chefs. However chef being able to hide it so well it’s still more than likely his personal life was out there. It’s nice to see this good guy in recovery, I believe he’s gonna come a long way! Dude ....irs tough working messed up ...cannot believe you didn't miss a day.... also can't believe your boss didn't .pick up on it .....MOST of all I can't believe you did the work....if you were too messed up to drive to WORK how could you work.. I almost WANT to say that the damage you did to YOUR body came FROM forcing yourself to work as MUCH as the alcohol.

That’s another thing I hated about drinking! It forces people into isolation and we all know that’s not cool. Alcohol stinks too and cops 👮♀️ are like bloodhounds!! They will definitely smell it! Yuck! I’m so happy that I quit. I sure hope I don’t ever attempt to romanize that again. Maybe in the beginning there’s some fun times but it quickly changes into a horror movie!!

Hey LD!! I really enjoyed the video today…well there hasn’t been one that I haven’t enjoyed 😊but hearing from Bailey was helpful as he saw it first hand. It’s so hard to have ppl in our lives that are self destructing and we can’t do anything about it. You’re so right about no one starts off thinking they’ll be an addict…it’s fun until it’s not. Question for you, sorry if I missed it in a previous video but did your drinking creep up on you, how did you go from drinking in the evening to all the time? Mine crept up in days and amounts but thankfully never drink during work or am or anything like that but the quantity and how fast I drank definitely went up. Well hope you’re staying warm…I’m loving the Fl chill right now. Another day under my belt

What symptoms were you experiencing when you had high levels of ammonia? Did lactulose give you severe diarrhea? I have a family member experiencing horrible episodes of confusion. They keep saying it’s a UTI but I think high levels of ammonia might be contributing.
I was very confused, didn't know what was going on. Had a hard time remembering what I was talking about. I would get lost mid sentence and couldn't remember what I was talking about, wouldn't know where I was. It's pretty scary. And yes. The lactulose cause me major gi problems. I can't stand it when I have to take it. It really causes me a ton of discomfort. It's like you have food poisoning, cramps, diarrhea, gas ,and bloating. Hope this helps. Thank you. God bless

What an enlightening interview
A lot of people find that it is hard to go back and do their old job without being somewhat intoxicated. The brain has to relearn to do it sober and also the motivation just may not be the same.
