I think the reason why Chris Paul is barely mentioned in the conversation for best PG alongside Russ and Steph is because he doesn't have that "wow factor". He is so consistently great, that people forget how elite he is.

That Clippers team was a showtime team but was never genuinely going to contend for a title with the pieces they had outside of CP3, Blake & DJ. If him & Harden stay healthy, the Rockets could really take it to the Warriors in the West.

He doesn't get as much recognition because he's a pass first point unlike curry who shoots anytime he gets space and nobody care if you drop 16 assists but if you have 50 points everybody pays attention. I personally would take Cp3 because if curry didn't have Draymond, Klay, Iggy he wouldn't be as good as they make him sound. Cp3 is consistent no matter who's on the court.

This video will be used as reference for me in the future. All anybody wants to look at is scoring, big numbers and team success but as a purist I appreciate all these little things pointed out here. I gave the same stink face look at some of those passes and steals that people do on Blake dunks and Curry 3s. To me that is beautiful to watch. CP3 is a genius and with or without a ring is finishing no lower than top 10 all time at the point, top 5 imo.

Great video and I agree with just about everything you included. I have a question that I often wonder when I watch him, what do you think about when CP comes off a pick and roll screen and stalls the ball and doesn't attack. I tend to notice the Clippers getting in shot clock trouble when he isn't aggressive or waits to pass the ball coming off the pick and roll which forces the Clippers and usually CP to try and bail them out with a long contested jumper, which I don't believe is efficient offense.

I know right I always tell people it's the consistency. When he was coming into the NBA they said Ray Felton or Derron Williams. He surpassed them, then it was Rondo, D rose, TP, Nash outlasted them. Now it's Curry, Dame, Kyrie, Westbrook. Man not saying one of those guys can't take the torch but wait more than two or three years till we crown these guys, cause when they fall off like Rose or Arenas now people call them trash when they once were crowned. Curry is great right now but 11 years like you said that's point god status.

Talent wise, he is the second greatest PG in the history of this league. I think it's fair to praise this type of player regarding his style, numbers, legacy, etc... take Olajuwon for example. He is clearly the most talented big in history, still people forget about him in most cases. Shaq has an aggressive stye that I and many fans love it, KAJ has that incredible consistency and patented signature moves... They are more naturally recognisable. Still, the amount of talent that Olajuwon had was so impressive that any person can watch and see how much ahead of the competition he was. He was the best center in the golden age of the position, no other big could even scratch him. And that is CP3 nowadays. Since his very first year, the guy is a top all around player, the best PG on the golden era of the position. He had competition, guys like Deron, Rondo, Curry, etc.. Challenged him really hard for the best PG consideration. Still, all these guys had ups and downs, CP never had a down year. The only thing who stopped him was injuries, the guy can make untalented scrubs like DeAndre and Chandler look like allstars on offense, lol Even if he is a second round virgin, we can't deny how talented he is. The greatest downside of a pure Point God is that he desperatelly needs elite talent to strive. This can be applied to every position, sure, but the PG is easily the most dependable. Imagine Stockton without Malone? Or Magic without a superstar team? Isaiah without the bad boys and the defenses schemes? To be extra fair, CP is having an amazing career, but he never had a super team. In these recent years the talent around him grown substantionally, but is far to be comparable with other PG who won before him (yeha, even LeBron is in this conversation).

i was expecting you to point this out, Coach; since i learned this from one of your videos. but anyway, on defense, CP3 also knows how to navigate well through screens with proper footwork (outside foot first then using that first step to explode towards the player's direction, kind of like a Euro Step)

He's exactly like Jason Kidd, a basketball savant. The way they both scan the defence on fast breaks, use pick and rolls and their "pass-first" mindsets really separates them from other point guards. Both deadly defensive players as well, Jason Kidd could steal the ball from the best ball handlers and Chris Paul is arguably the best ever at doing it. Both great point guards, both very similar playstyles.
