  • The Connective Tissue Oncology Society (CTOS), an international group of physicians and scientists with a primary interest in tumours of the connective tissues (such as bone) recently held an important educational webinar for their members. The aim of this virtual event was to educate healthcare professionals and researchers about small round blue cell sarcomas (SRBC), a group which encompasses Ewing sarcoma.
As part of this webinar, Nicole Croft, mum to Freddie, champion of ‘Freddie’s Future’ and a valued member of BCRT’s Patient & Involvement Panel, was invited to share the vital perspectives of patients and parents when faced with a diagnosis of Ewing sarcoma.
Here, Nicole openly shares the challenges Freddie and his loved ones encountered throughout his diagnosis and treatment for metastatic Ewing sarcoma, as well as the reality of living with the longer-term and late effects in the years beyond treatment, and the crucial opportunities for advancement and improvement.

I’m so sorry to hear this. It must be devastating to have a child who has had cancer, and he is so young and such a cute little guy. My sister has metastatic cancer now, but she is older. Her prognosis is not good. Peace and blessings be with you, Freddie, and your family.
