- Is there any connection between sexual sin and wasted time? Does the believer go from boredom to temptation? From wasting time to wrecking morally? In this video we consider 2 Samuel 11 and what led to David's fall into adultery. Maybe you say to yourself, "I struggle with lust..." but the truth be told you should be saying, "I struggle with pride and wasting my time... and that leads to falls into lust and other sins." In our fight against sin we must not be as one who boxes against the air, but have a clear target.

This is so spot on. Instead of reading the Bible or working out, i find myself wasting countless hours in front of screens. It's definetely God calling us out, but also guiding us towards overcoming our sinful nature. Great video!

Thank you for this! These are a few things that stand out for me.
1. Pursue Righteousness, not just fleeing from sin.
2. Do not be lax.
3. Self-Control.
4. Pride and self exalted view of self so that you do not recognise your absolute need to cast yourself on the LORD for Power and strength. Don't be a procrastinator and put of things you know you should be doing.
5. Go be where you know GOD wants you to be.
6. Do not waste your time. For it opens a door into other areas of your sin.
Keep on in the advance of being obedient to CHRIST. You are in the battle field. Remember that you are seeking first the Kingdom of GOD and Righteousness.
Amen. #4 (pride) on your list is what i believe to be the root sin of all sin.

I would say that there are some truths in scripture that challenge us, but I wouldn't say that followers of Jesus "don't want to hear or think this." If we're talking about hearing the hard truth that laziness leads to temptation and you're not referring to something else. "He who is of God hears us." John 8:47

I emailed you 10 years ago seeking counsel on porn and masturbation issues. I was a teenager at the time. As i've grown since, and gotten more occupied and active, i realise that this idea is true. Sexual sin thrives when we have nothing to do.

I'm here watching this video because it's late on a Saturday evening, and I fell out of discipline and self-control to watch RUclips. This week was fine. I've been going to bed early at 9:00 PM and get up at 6:00 AM so that I get good sleep, and I have time to pray and read the Bible while I am alone.
We need discipline. Fall out of it once in one regard, and you'll and lose the rest. I am very grieved at myself, and angry. Yet, I am happy at my grief because I know this is Christ working in me.
This video hit home. I could talk almost forever about this, having struggled with lust all my teen years. I so desperately want to talk to all you Christian young men about this issue, because it means so much to me, and I understand the pain and the struggle.
Yet, these are just RUclips comments, and I have a hard time putting my thoughts into understandable sentences. I will pray about this and finally get to bed.
We so desperately need Him.

Hey brother, I'm in the exact situation you are in but probably worse. I play video games and watch RUclips then I spend with the Lord and I know that because of that I become lazy and my thought life becomes lukewarm and wicked. I try to reject thoses thoughts but sometimes they just swarm in my mind even though I don't want too. The reason for this is because we haven't surrendered everything to the Lord and think daily about the things of God. Sometimes I question if I'm saved because of the way I live so lukewarm. Like the amount of time he is giving me to be able to change and give ally life to the Lord is something I definitely don't deserve. I wish I can break my laptop and TV to be done with it but I can't because I'm too attached too it. I'll pray that you overcome your sins brother. that you become fruitful and holy to the Lord.
What the lord as teach to do is this make sure you pray at least one hour a day and read the word at least one hour a day also that mean you always take out 2 hours a day for God the time can be more but make sure you can do it daily and it will help you to grow in him.

God has used you to send this important message to us young men - especially I'd say. This matter is neglected by most of us I am sure. There are rough days when we don't want to do anything but lie down on our couches and do nothing. And oblivious to the imminent danger, out of a sudden we see ourselves struggling with abnormal temptations, some of which we thought were gone. Make no mistake brothers: "Be alert and of sober mind. @fran-mh2ef I’ll pray for you on this, as this use to be a struggle of mine as well. A big part is surrendering it to the Lord, and the other part is just saying NO and going to do something else (prayer, read, call or txt a fellow believer, or even thinking about God). I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.
Also real life can be a living p-word as well. So be careful where you go or who you see as they could be tempting you as well. An example being the gym, clubs, etc. I’ve heard not going to places where the enemy can easily access you.
What a preaching!!! Eleven and a half minutes of pure and straight up gospel! May God help us reminding us not to waste our time! My hope is to be in his house every hour, every minute and every second of my life!

I think a bigger Problem, than wasting time, was forgetting his own sinfulness, weakness and his dependency on God. Wasting time was a fruit of those things also, like pride and inattentiveness.
We are dependent on the Lord's help to use our time in the way he wants us to. That’s why we should always watch and pray. And we need to be constantly reminded of what Christ has done for us and that in that we find the strength through faith to live the life that is pleasing to God, not focusing on our own efforts or discipline but Christ, his work, his righteousness his grace and his power and who we are in him.

My head is pounding, thank you for this. There is no escape from God’s discipline. He corrects our paths and brings us to repent for straying away. Three years after I came to Christ, I committed myself to his lead. I deleted all my social media accounts and had no issues. Later I got lazy, and went back to everything I once knew was not of him.
I need help. Give me grace Lord. Stand by me this time and every time I grow weak in following you.

I would say that this can be a very true and very common reality for many..
HOWEVER..
For those of us who this isnt 100% applicable. What do we do? For instance. I might not be wasting my time. I could be reading the bible and whether its a lack of excitement or stress from trying to retain the information, many times, i end up burning up in my lust because my thoughts go to where my stress can be relieved.
Again, i could be learning spanish which isnt a waste of time yet it stresses me out and i start looking for the stress reliever
In fact, if I could remember, there was a time where I fell into sin reading the Bible. Now obviously I'm not saying that reading the Bible caused me to sin. What I'm saying is that it's not always laziness. So for us, theres either a biggest issue or something because not being lazy doesnt always work for us. For me I think it has a lot to deal with not taking my thoughts captive

Brother, thank you for this video which has definitely resonated with me. In this digital era, me and other gen zs especially struggle with scrolling for hours on social media and the ability to focus on tasks and even actually do them . The scientific psychology behind this has become mainstream with explanations on stuff like dopamine and neuroplasticity/habits, but seeing this applied and in a biblical perspective really helps as well. Really need prayers man for me and this generation who are hooked on scrolling for hours on TikTok or instagram reels and being way too focused on other peoples lives and other trends which really don't do anything for us. It makes them a slave to the cues the devil sends us to always stay occupied with other things throughout the day and procrastinate.
In fact, I think this is one of the devils most powerful weapons (social media) as it creates distracted people who fail to reflect on themselves such as if they are even spending focused and quality time with God.
Thank you Jesus for bringing me to my knees once again.

Without watching the entire video, I can tell you that anxiety leads to lust. Nothing fuels lust more than stress with anxiety. It's like any coping mechanism, take your pic. Sure, it's not solving your problems, but temporary relief is better than no relief at all. Honestly, as a believer I struggle. We are only in the flesh. Of course I try to not lust, but eventually we all cave. Just being honest.

Excellent message. It's truly about pride & selfishness, of which Christ Jesus is the antithesis. Believers can indeed become lax and prideful concerning the mercy & grace of God; which i believe has led to the hyper-grace/ hyper-liberty movement. Too many professing believers excuse and conflate any and all forms of fornication as simply "forgetting our identity as being righteous"; when in fact, it's a failure to admit our moral weakness (pride) and refusal to deny our desires (selfishness); thus ultimately failing to call out to the Lord Christ Jesus for help and deliverance. It's the new & reversed modern day Pharisee; lifting one's self higher than God. For these new licentious Pharisees, obedience to Christ Jesus has been literally preached against and falsely labeled as "works salvation" or legalism; when true believers know it's God's Love that causes us to love Him and WANT to be healed & transformed into the likeness of Christ Jesus.

I’ve struggled with sexual sin my entire life. I’ve been celibate by choice for the past three years. I guess I would consider myself a womanizer to some degree. It’s very easy for me to have sex with women so it’s been very challenging for me not to bring women back to my house over this past three years. The Bible says “it is better to be married than to burn with lust“, but the Bible also says “husbands love your wife as Christ loved the church and gave his life for it“. I know I don’t have the gift of singleness and I’m going to have to find a wife one of these days but on the other hand I don’t know if I’m capable of loving a woman past the sexual attraction. I just have to trust that God will provide the right person one day.
“Womaniser” is the worlds term for a fornicator and adulterer at heart. If you’re a Christian in repentance from sexual sin, don’t think of yourself as a womanizer. If you’re unrepentant then don’t deceive yourself. God will judge the sexually immoral.
Read Acts 2:38 and pray for revelation.
God delivered me from the same struggle youre going through once I was born again. I was able to get past the sexual attraction and God blessed me with a husband.
Thanks for your honesty man. I too didn't know if I was capable of loving a godly woman. At the beginning of this year God told me He would teach me. I was surprised because He had also told me to not date this year (even though there was a woman I was interested in).
Soon after he revealed to me 1 Timothy 5:1-2. He taught me to love the women in my church as if they were my sister. I wasn't a great brother growing up, so I had to learn. It was especially hard with the woman I had feelings for.
What I learned is that true love is to love without expecting anything in return. It means that you treat all women with the same level of honor, no matter how they look. You go the extra mile to consider them. Again, with nothing expected in return :)
I don't know if this will help you much, but trust me, if you ask God to teach you while you seek Him and read His Word, He will! :)

I’m guilty. So guilty I barely can finish the video. But I need this, please pray for me that I continue to keep pursing righteousness. It’s hard sometimes to stop. Especially if you never had a girlfriend yet. I’ve had dates but no official girlfriend yet and I believe it’s bc God wants me to wait till marriage. I’m not perfect but I will strive to be in Christ Jesus. I confess on looking at sinful things and laziness. I pray for it to stop in the Name of Jesus. He delivered me from the bondages of my past, so I trust Him that I will get out of this. It may not be when you want it to be, but He is always right on time.❤️
A girlfriend comes with all her challenges. Keep praying for your future wife and attend Christian conferences. Maybe a Christian app for dating? Let the pastor know as well he might know some young ladies ready to be married.
I struggle with saying “let me watch just one video” or “I’m not masturbating I’m just looking” but these are excuses satan wants me to say since it always ends with me losing the battle. But although I struggle God is so merciful with me ❤
I got pregnant the day and only day I decided to go drink and be “social” with people my age. I would look around the church I was part of and not a single person my age attended. The older people there didn’t even have time to hang out with me out of church. That day precisely I was supposed to be at the gym, seriously. I was doing really good, eating good, gym but I felt I didn’t have enough social interaction especially seeing groups of friends around. Tbh I should have realized being an introvert and reading books in my room was definitely okay and enough and didn’t have to go out to be “social”. Now pregnant and really considering adoption because ik I wasn’t ready to be a mother. I wanted to continue to continue to travel. And focus on my relationship with God. The amount of discipline one must have every single minute.
