    Good review. Would you say this is your favourite small board for general beach break conditions, 1-5ft? Seems pretty sweet.

    • @SkipperSurfReview
      @SkipperSurfReview  2 года назад +2

      Thank you, David. This particular size 5’5”, I wouldn’t consider it as my favorite for small weak windswell waves here on the East Coast. I would prefer to surf my Mini Simmons or DaveySky Skiff. However it would probably change if I had Plasmic in bigger size like 5’7” in EPS foam to go better in smaller waves with less work though. So it all comes down to where you surf and type of swells you’re getting.. like when I travel to the West Coast, SoCal.. 1 ft ground swell there its like 3 ft in NY, so the Plasmic will be really fun to ride in those conditions.

    Hey Yury, love the reviews mate. I’ve been thinking of picking up a Plasmic for a while now. My last fish was the machado seaside which I got at 6’0, I was 97kg at the time, since then I’ve dropped down to 79kg and my surfing has definitely improved. I’m tossing up between the 5’7- 5’8, I’d always heard when I’m doubt to go for the larger size, I noticed in your review you pointed out getting it in a larger size would cover more of a small wave range which was kinda what I’m after, basically anything from 2ft-4ft (Hawaiian/Australian)
    Would you have any recommendations? This is gonna be my first custom order, I’m pretty pumped for it.

    • @SkipperSurfReview
      @SkipperSurfReview  4 месяца назад +1

      Hey buddy! Sorry for the late response. Coming down from 6’0” Seaside to 5’7 or 5’8” Plasmic will be very significant. Seaside is wider and EPS foam. Plasmic will be narrower and have less volume. Just keep that in mind. To be safer, I would go 5’8” Plasmic.
      Did you get a chance to order it yet?

    • @brentontaylor9191
      @brentontaylor9191 4 месяца назад +1

      @@SkipperSurfReview Hey mate, I haven’t ordered yet. I actually ended up opportunistically downsizing my seaside & glazer form 6’0s to the same at 5’6 both a little over 32L and the performance difference is amazing, i feel like I should have downsized years ago as my turns have drastically improved. It’s even improved my pop up with my feet almost always landing in the right spot. I’m definitely still going to get a Plasmic, I’m leaning more towards a 5’5 or a 5’6 now. The 5’5 is about 1L more than my seaside whereas the 5’6 is 2. There isn’t much difference in the dims, so I may end up going the 5’6 for that little extra float, but I don’t think 1L will make too much difference. I’ve been watching a lot of Asher Pacey and Victor Bernardo clips lately which has got me looking at more Album boards. I wouldn’t mind a Sunstone and a Bom Dia at some point in the future too. All their designs look like a lot of fun.
      Hope you’re getting some good waves 🤙🏼

    Great interview. I’m in the same situation of building 2 boards that don’t over lap each other to much. I’m 5.9 183 early intermediate. I’ve only rented boards this will be my first purchase. From listening to your interview would this be the take away
    I would get
    5’7 36.4L Plasmic with swallow tail
    6’0 37 L Twinsman pin tail
    Or would you go larger with the Twinsman like 6’2 38L

    • @SkipperSurfReview
      @SkipperSurfReview  2 года назад

      Hey man! Thanks for watching. To be honest, I would personally go 5'7" Plasmic Diamond and stretch out Twinsman to mid length size like o 6'8" x 20" x 2.5" and make the volume closer to 41-43L. I'm going to do review on Twinsman soon with Matt. Hope this helps! Hit me up on Instagram if you have any questions.

    • @SkipperSurfReview
      @SkipperSurfReview  3 года назад +1

      Thank you, Peter for watching. I’d go Plasmic. It does work in small stuff as the Seaside. For junky small waves, I’d love to have one in 5’8” but for better days 5’5” works perfect for me. I also have 7’2” Plasmic Mid Length which covers all the conditions and it’s still maneuverable. Don’t be afraid to go a little bit bigger in size with Plasmic. Unless you are around good waves all the time. Cheers!

    As someone debating the idea of getting a Plasmic, thank you for this review!
    However, how do you compare your 5’7" Plasmic to your Seaside of the same size? I have two Seasides (5’2" and 5’5") that I may want to replace for a Plasmic (thinking about 5’3" or 5’4").

    • @SkipperSurfReview
      @SkipperSurfReview  2 года назад +1

      Glad to help, Zhob. I think based on the stock dims 5'7" might be too bulky for you since you surf low volume Seaside around 30L. I think you would be good with the 5'4 or 5'5" to cover most conditions. In terms of performance, Plasmic can handle bigger/steeper waves better with more hold, speed and drive down the line. What's your weight/height/level of surfing?

    • @BillWender
      @BillWender 2 года назад +1

      @@SkipperSurfReview Thank you for your reply!
      My weight & height are around the same as yours, indermediate level. I do love my Seasides but my 5'5 (daily driver) sometimes feels too long and the 5'2 (clean off-shore days board) feels better under my feet but also way harder to paddle on. There's also something really appealing in the Plasmic design but I can't tell what it is.
      I'm open to any of your suggestion but in the meantime, keep up the good work!

      Thanks you, Jorge. I prefer to surf Plasmic. It's not as overly packed with foam up up front as Flat Earth. The Flat Earth needs more wave to come alive. I was able to surf on it in small stuff but I had to put more work in it to ride down the line.

    • @SkipperSurfReview
      @SkipperSurfReview  Год назад +1

      Hey Jose! Yes, I had 5'7" Seaside in Helium. Plasmic will have more performance and wider range of conditions vs the Seaide. However the Seaside will have slightly more float if we compare Helium EPS vs PU blank. So just keep in mind that. I personally would take Plasmic over Seaside if I had to choose in between two. Hope this helps.

      How did you find the volume of the plasmic? Was it enough for you? Or too performancy?
