hey, that looks like a great bike. my brother has a 1979 Xl100s... it used to run great, but this fall the spark plug threads stripped out. we're going to get it going again this spring. great bike.
Iowa Airsoft Militia hey no problem I still have the bike. Need to rebuild the motor but it still runs lol. I would recommend the xl Honda’s to anyone. Very simple motor. The electrical can give headaches around the steering post but all in all very good bikes. But one day I’ll get to it again but over my head with project atm haha.
Thanks! It needs a engine rebuild as it’s pretty wore out but it will still start up and run just burns a ton of oil and ton of play in the clutch lol. I have another one that’s the exact same with low miles I ride.
Hi did you fit a new loom to get your elecs working OK. My bike has had them all chopped out I'm left with a yellow and white wire unused from the stator. Iv read These bike run 6v did you manage to run a 12 v charging circuit and regulator OK. Cheers .
Hey man I’m thinking about buying one of these exact bikes and the guy I’m purchasing from said the lights don’t work. Is that an easy fix like just replacing bulbs or is it more complicated than that? Your help would be much appreciated
Ben Shaw it just could be bulbs, fuse or a bad battery. The headlight is not on the battery it’s charged internally from the coil. The most common cause I’ve seen on the xl’s is the wiring harness up by the steering stem comes unplugged or break wires. If I were you I would check all connections to see if they are dirty and check the connections behind the headlight.
