  • Welcome to Art & Wild Life in Watercolour with me, Morgaine Rose!
This week, we're taking a walk along the strand-line on my favourite beach, gathering stones, shells, and sea glass - then taking the lot home to inspire a semi-abstract sea painting.
This is not a full painting tutorial - to watch some of those, please follow the link here to my Patreon page! / morgainerose_art
You can however see my whole process for painting this little piece - albeit a bit faster than usual.
Thanks for watching everybody, have a wonderful week, and happy painting!

Dear Morgaine, love this . Isn't it a fantastic feeling when out and about in nature. Nothing beats it. It's often then that you return full of life and energy , and you most definitely can see it in your lovely little painting. I also love to forage beach treasures , it's hard not to when you visit 😁❤️

You got me thinking. It's been just over 10 years since I was blessed with a trip to the Philippines, and on one beautiful, and rather hot day I was given the ultimate gift of baptising some of the people there, in the luke warm sea. Walking back to the beach I saw something quite large and round. About the size of a human head. Picking it up, I was surprised by how heavy it was, and just how rough to the touch it was. Once out of the water I could see clearly that I was holding a dead brain coral. Looking at it, it's easy to see where the name came from. Knowing my travel bag had no space to spare, I gave to a young lady that was with me to gave to her little girl back home in Texas. Saddest part was customs wouldn't let her take on the plane. Mind you, it was very heavy. It's my wife that picks up everything on a beach, but she turns a lot of it into pretty things to gave out as gifts. That's the bit I like, seeing all that stuff leaving our cramped home...lol
Very much like what you did here. Not the usual calmness you give us, but a realistic display of apparent chaos in miniature. Nice touch with the bit of sparkle. Something often overlooked on painting like this. Very evident in wider waterscapes, but not so well used in a close up like this.
Good stuff Morgaine. Take care sweet lady.

Love the filming as I love sea shores too! Painting works really well too. I will have a go at this without the silver as I have none. I’d like to know if there’s a way to create an illusion of stones under the water… I may test approaches
