Welcome, friends! Today I'll be demonstrating for you this simple lonely wetland scene, with a lovely big grey sky full of light, and some simple but effective geese.
Equipment List: I'm using Saunders Waterford cold pressed watercolor paper, weight 140 lb, size a quarter an imperial sheet. My colours today are: Prussian Blue, Payne's Grey, Light Red, and some White Gouache, all Winsor & Newton Cotman brand. My brushes today are: a Daler Rowney Aquafine 'Skyflow' large 2 inch flat wash brush; an Escoda Ultimo synthetic mop brush size 10; a Winsor & Newton Cotman 19mm flat 'One Stroke' synthetic brush; a Pro Arte synthetic 'Sword' liner brush size Small; and a Pro Arte 'Masterstrokes' Series 60 synthetic miniature brush size 4/0.
Thanks for watching friends, I hope you enjoy, and happy painting!
Lovely soft and expressive.
Exquisite ! The sky and the glow in it, look surreal - impressed by your techniques. The marsh also looks beautiful. And the small skein of three geese lends the painting a realistic touch👏👏👏
Lovely!
Thank you! 😁💙
Thank you Morgaine for this gorgeous tutorial. Magnificent light. Very well explained! Very effective effect. Love your work on the light
Absolutely amazing colours using minimum colours of your skyscape Morgaine, thanks greatly appreciate your video and sharing inspirational ideas and talent how you've created a brilliant painting. Thanks again stay safe and healthy
Thank you so much Phillip, so chuffed you enjoyed it! 😁🤍 stay safe as always, my friend!
Ethereal and such a wonderful and beautifully expressive sky 💙💙💙
Thank you so very much! 😁💙💙💙
Beautiful!!
Dear morgaine, I love how this turned out . Your tip for adding that little bit of light red was very clever and so subtle yet it made a huge difference, like after rainfall on a summer's day over wetlands when the humidity rises and you get that misty background appearance. Great brush strokes and of course great geese . 👍☺️
Hi Susan, thank you so much! 💙 Glad you enjoyed it, I agree that light red ended up very subtle, it disappeared almost entirely, yet I think I’d miss it if it wasn’t there! 😁
Morgaine I loved this!!
I love wetlands and Canada Geese. The light red in the sky was perfect for a glow. I also really like your captions but can I suggest that you leave them on for a few more seconds.
Great atmospheric painting!!
Thank you so much!! 😁🤍 I will see what I can do about making the captions last a little longer, thank you for the feedback! 👍
Rather lovely. Even though the choice of colours are in line with the natural world, I think I'd have put s little something extra in the mix. Not sure where I'd use it, or what tone. But I feel a little bit somewhere would help enhance the atmosphere. Yet as t stands it hold so much of what's personally important, "peace".
