Paul writes that we should refrain from quenching the Holy Spirit as He works to make us look more like Jesus.
We exist to love God, love people, and make disciples of Jesus Christ.

What an amazing sermon, and timely one!
"We quench the Spirit when the Bible becomes a suggestion and the culture & our feelings become our authority." I needed to hear that!

I noticed Chandler said you can resist the grace of the Holy Spirit. He's a Calvinist. That's refreshing.

This message was a true blessing to me. I'm really struggling in my life right now and my heart had been in unbearable pain. But the Holy Spirt has not given up on me and God has used this message to speak to me further than he already has. So thank you for posting this. It means more than you know.

Just know seasons of struggle is actually God's power upon you and around you. He's there just know He will carry you through. You've been chosen to glorify Him through the role of suffering through sanctification of the Spirit, not your Strength but His.

Love the sermon. It's truly about Jesus and the Holy Spirit is who draws me near to Him.

Haha, I love the scorched earth bit - about sums up what's going on here in South Africa.
Thank God I found your church online Pastor Chandler - your messages have empowered me and, by implication, my family greatly. God bless all of you.

This hit me: "We're actually to show off Jesus Christ by gathering ACROSS ideological tribes." I also really liked "conviction is a sweet gift from God."

We emulate what we think about and our "base posture" should emulate the Fruit of the Spirit...Galatians 5. Thank you, Matt for your faithful message.

Thank you for a wonderful message. My daughter and I listened to this sermon on a recent road trip and discussed it afterwards. It spoke deeply to us. I am looking to repackage your message for our Youth Group. I am confident it will bless them much, just as your message has already encouraged me.

Hello I’m trying to connect to someone from the church. I need a mentor someone that can take me and my three year old son under their wings. We need a lot of sources and help. Please pray for us as we go through this huge change in our lives. I’m leaving a new age teachings that left me more broken then ever.. I came to Costa Rica for healing to find Jesus and I got introduced to a lot of witchcraft! I need prayers! It’s not like me to ask for help on social media but I’m seeking urgent prayers for us

Does anyone know where he got the statistics about people choosing church based on ideology rather than theology? I found the article about people leaving/going deeper in but couldn’t find any source for the ideology point.

Wow, a sermon on the Holy Spirit that never addresses Pentecost, the Baptism of the Holy Spirit, the gifts of the Holy Spirit, or the fruit of the Holy Spirit. If you want the power, go find a pastor who preaches the Word.

Does the Spirit convict every single person, the whole world, or only some whom God has “chosen”? I am very broken and full of doubt since being introduced to Calvinism. It’s made the Bible feel so confusing to understand now.

Regan, the spirit of confusion and doubt is not of God. A pastor recently said that fear leads to confusion and confusion brings division. A separation from Truth. The Holy Spirit will work and convict anyone, keep your heart open. Ask the Holy Spirit to illuminate the Scriptures for you. Take it one step at a time, and allow the Spirit to work in you. Be blessed.

A little off your sermon topic here but as a member of your congregation I’ve been struggling for sometime with your ideology. I truly hope you can help me understand, I hear you say you’re not a SJW, Marxist, woke pastor etc. Then I hear you make comments like” I’d hire a less qualified black person over a white…I have to assume just because they are black, right? Can’t understand that one. Hope you read viewer comments so you can explained or defend yourself because logic doesn’t prevail. Also, never heard ANY preacher use “FRICKEN” from the pulpit as much as you do. I’m sure you’re aware that the word is just substitutionary for fu*k’n. Right? An explanation on that would also be greatly appreciated.

What happened to Matt Chandler? Help me understand.
Chandler appears to mix truth with incorrect teaching. He seems to get the Gospel right (which is the most important part of any sermon). He is correct that the Holy Spirit always points to Jesus. He is right that you don't find truth inside yourself, and that truth is fixed. Yet, he downplays God's Word by quoting Bill Johnson, lead heretic of Bethel Apostate "Church." "Not God the Father, God the Son, God the Holy Bible." He adds confusion to his sermon by later saying we quench the Spirit when we treat the Bible as a mere suggestion. Chandler downplays, then elevates Scripture.
He then incorrectly states that Christians are to meet and unite with others of different ideologies. (Adding more confusion in the sermon, he does not define "ideologies.") Does Chandler not know that his tacit promotion of critical race theory is causing division in the Church? Does he not know that Romans 16:17-20 applies to the woke theology he and his church seem to be moving towards? Woke theology/progressive "Christianity" are false, divisive gospels.
Chandler then misunderstands who will crush Satan. We don't crush Satan under our feet. We walk on crushed enemies after Jesus crushes them.
The danger of having a low view of Scripture is you fall into woke heresy and false teachings. (Or can I just be dismissed for being cynical and overly critical?)

I don’t feel confused by his sermon. honestly, I’m more confused by this comment than the actual sermon you’ve taken issue with. you’re creating problems where there are none and finding problems where, again, there are none. maybe what you’re doing right now is what Paul was talking about? why are you stirring up these vain controversies and heaping up baseless accusations, attempting to damage the credibility and witness of a man of God and fellow brother in Christ?

How is looking at scripture in context down playing it? Or being woke. this comment is proof Holy Spirit is quenched witching believers because of emotions or different ideologies
