My Heart Will Go On and Without You are those songs that don't sound hard from first glance because there's not a lot of vocal acrobatics but when you sing it, you have to be comfortable in those notes or you will sound all over the place (essentially if you're not a soprano or even a mezzo, you need to lower them several steps).
Bartek no it isn’t, they are both incredible singers, but Mariah’s songs require a huge vocal range, not to mention incredible agility and whistles in most of them
Bartek And you think Whitney had the range to even sing whisper and whistle registers? She could belt better but that’s it. Her cover songs like I Will Always Love You is obviously difficult but a not as difficult as Mariah’s songs like Forever, My All and Lead the Way, let alone Emotions. Charice has done justice to Whitney’s songs so STFU.
can you react to Mariah Carey's "Lead The Way" from her 2001 "Glitter" soundtrack. You will be TOTALLY SHOOK by EVERYTHING on that song. Range, Instrumental, Lyrics EVERYTHING
I love your channel and everything you do with it. also love the fact that you are so kind and nice even when they are really bad at singing. Your kindness really makes a difference.
I’ve seen and heard tons of people nailing “I Will Always Love You” and “My Heart Will Go On” but not a single soul have done justice to a Mariah Song, maybe they can hit some notes but the emotion is not there 🤷🏻♂️
@@nicholasmccarthy7057 Jessie J has a different style of singing that's all. I mean she's covered Whitney Houston and nailed that, so judging her off of one Beyonce cover isn't quite just.
Jessica Sanchez got rave reviews for her version of ''And I AM Telling You I'm Not Going'',even from the iconic legend herself Jennifer Holliday who said she could be my daughter and requested a duet following her performance on American Idol, it also helped push her into the final of American Idol so in that respect it was the perfect song choice for her at the time, yes she did take it to a new level on Philippine Idol because of her age and because she did not shy away from taking on some of the hardest songs while she was still very young.
Jessica Sanchez was actually “coached” to sing that song just like that, they initially told her that her version didn’t have enough emotion... you should check out the entire episode of great performing that song.
Great listi! Definitely hard songs to sing. I would have added: Mariah: Emotions, Lead the way and Butterfly Celine: All by myself, I surrender and Then you look at me Whitney: Didn't we almost have it all, The greatest love of all and I believe in you and me. Also a few Christina Aguilera & Aretha songs too...
Yep you have to really have the range, breath support, transition technique, not to mention control of your whistle register, and good agility. To even survive throughout the whole song.😅
I would love to see more videos like this!! You can also do the opposite one to suggest songs that are with high impact but actually not too difficult to sing!
Georgina you are so kind. You're not saying about anyone, that was bad or whatever. Just ''I don't understand'' or ''unusual styling'' or something similar and it entertains me so much :D
I totally agree on these songs being a no go area unless you're that good! Especially the tricky ones like I will always love you and Without you... they may seem easy but... they are not!
Jessie J did Whitney's song proud there! I'm very precious about people trying to replicate Whitney but my god I even think Jessie did a great job. Wow!
Speaking of underrated singers, let me add Tina Arena. She is AWESOME, mesmerising, crazy talented, and she's not too well-known which is sad. But happily she's humble to know her powerhouse voice! I wish you could someday explore more about her, you wouldn't regret at all!! She has her version of "I wanna know what love is", I recommend :) Edit: before Whitney being handed the song "How will I know" Tina also one of the bets, and she covered it as well! She never disappoints, even when it gets hard to sing like "Somebody That You Used To Know". I also love her "Back In Black" (ACDC) cover btw
Yes Georgina! I agree with you 100% that Nicole Scherzinger is underrated as a singer! You mentioned The Phantom of the Opera she did which was amazing! If you haven't heard her sing Purple Rain or Don't Cry For Me Argentina, treat yourself! She really can sing. She has either had bad management or has bad instincts, herself, for her to not have more acclaim and appreciation than she does. I almost feel the same about Katherine McPhee...as far as being underrated goes. Are there other singers that you feel the same way about? I really enjoy your videos, Georgina....and I can't sing a note.
I Love Ken Lee...bedeebadeebadaloo ! Never fails to make me smile 😀 I agree, Jessie J is fab! I think Billy Joel songs, like ....don’t go changing, have such a massive range, that they need some thinking about. Love everything you put out duckegg, I could listen to you all day, wish I was still up North, we could have a bit of a sing up! 🙋🏽♀️👍🏽none of these though😂😆
Ken Lee! Ken Lee! 😂🤣 I thought Georgina was going to say “who’s Ken Lee??”. Just like she said “who’s Hugh??” when other singers have mispronounced the word “you” in song. 😂🤣
Well I was pronouncing it like that too, but to my defense I was 11'yo in my Mariah phase and could not speak English at all (it is not my first language obviously)😂😂😂😱
😂😂😂 Mariah's entire repertoire fits here lol. Climaxes from the Butterfly album, Daydream and Glitter belting, Emotions whistles and Emancipation of Mimi fast phrasing. I had never heqrdbthaybperfomancebfeom Sia, that was beautiful it didn't sound pushed as usual. I loved that. Also I'm so happy you noticed Nicole. She is awesome. Jessica Sánchez learned to sing And Im telling you from Jennifer Holiday so she has the over the top singing
there is also a "sweet spot" in each persons voice and range, even if they can hit the notes higher or lower, that sounds very good. Once they go out of their "zone" despite being technically ok and on pitch, the quality just isn't quite there as its not in their "natural" instrument prime range zone.. and example would be like a Karen Carpenter, who sounded so resonant in her "basement" lower range, but could easily sing outside of that range, but you never really heard it much as it was just not the same kind of special sound. It would be interesting to see you comment on this idea in a video.. sort of "just because you can sing it and hit the notes, doesn't necessarily mean you should". =)
exactly. like the lowest note i can hit is an E2, but that doesn’t mean i can project it well enough to rely on it, so there are certain songs i have to avoid based on that
All Mariah songs required high vocal quality , and many of them are a true suicide if anyone try ! She is the best in the studio and she write almost all her songs ! So GREAT !
Oh heck! There are three songs on that list, that I sing and no. 3 is a recent re-recording on my channel. I daren't post them here "in case" !! But they are available if anyone is interested.
I'd like if you do a review of imagine a cover by Madonna. I know she isn't an awesome singer but you're a fan, so am I. She's the Queen 👑 and she tried so hard in her career to improve, I respect that because a lot of people sing bad but it doesn't meant we can try to grow up. We work with the material we born with. Also I really like it
Yes, we have iconic vocalists & some of their songs are difficult to sing. However, I wouldn’t just tell people to never sing them. Studying music is good for any upcoming singer. You get singers like Ariana, Tori Kelly, & Jessie J. If you are going public with an iconic song, be sure to sing a song suitable for your vocals.
I love your channel, Georgina! In contrast to this list, do you have a list of songs that are relatively easy to sing well, i.e., even a shower singer such as myself will sound decent doing?
I think you should choose more songs that aren't either better or worse than the original, but singers that do things differently rather than just a bad or good cover. That would make a more interesting video.
So glad you included Sam Bailey in here along with Nicole, although personally that song is possibly my least favorite song of all time. Very much enjoyed this! Greetings from Florida.
I hope this only comes across as constructive criticism as I love your channel and think you makes some great content. All I’d say is that I don’t feel you went into any detail as to why these songs made this list. Like points in the song that cause singers problems or techniques they may require that are more advanced. The X factor (talent shows etc) clips just didn’t lend themselves to the explanation at all. This is just my opinion, I hope it hasn’t overstepped the line. Have a great day. 🙂
Sorry Georgina, I really thought Emotions or any Mariah song is the number 1 hardest song, Whitney's song is hard to sing but a lot of singer and vocalist here in the Philippines can sing Whitney song, But they can't give justice to Mariah song especially during her curly days era. Unless you’re Mariah Carey, don’t sing a Mariah Carey song...period.
I feel like this goes for all the vocal legends, especially Whitney but yass go off queen and spit some facts
PeriodT
@Dean Amil oh lord chile....here we go again.....i really hope your joking luv🤔🤨😑
If you have a vocal range.
and that also apply to morissette amon. Screechy..
Honorable mentions:
- Emotions by Mariah Carey
- Somebody Loves You Baby by Patti Labelle
- Love on Top by Beyoncé
Love on Top is easier than majority of Beyonce songs.

"To sing a Whitney Houston" song is very difficult but to sing a "Mariah Carey" song is absolute vocal suicide!!" - Simon Cowell

Mariah is the standard 💯 Btw, Ken Lee is legendary 😂
Just stay away from
Celine
Mariah
Whitney
Aretha
And Freddie Mercury and Michael jackson
And barbra Streisand
And Sia

sia and ariana
literally all of mariah's songs omg. hero is considered easy for her!! and it's so not easy!! ❤️

MY ALL- MARIAH CAREY
LOVE ON TOP - BEYONCE
Mariah’s songs are impossible to sing even when you’re awesome!
You're so cute and pure!! Your videos always put a smile on my face, thanks for being so active!!!
I'm surprised how "All by Myself" isn't here. The song is INSANELY hard to sing
As a rule, never since Mariah, Whitney, or Celine.
All of the vocal trinity discography!PERIODT!
but Ken Lee is a blessing to this world. change my mind.
I’ve seen and heard tons of people nailing “I Will Always Love You” and “My Heart Will Go On” but not a single soul have done justice to a Mariah Song, maybe they can hit some notes but the emotion is not there 🤷🏻♂️
what are you saying.. lol which emotions. tons of people have sung Mariah and they slayed everything adding more emotion.
I think these should be included
Celine Dion - All by myself
Mariah Carey - Emotions
