Incredible stuff. his is the true power of GPU rendering. Can you imagine doing this sort of thing even a few years ago with an off the shelf computer rendering with the Physical render engine in C4D. It would have been very difficult indeed. GPUs have demonstrated the value of look-dev.
Great tutorial and love all your videos and work. I'm curious to know your workstation. at the intro i see iMac but the tutorial made in windows. are you using Nvidia Quadro?
Hey, I did your tuto, but I got some sort of.. buth*les, at some location of the wall (also on the landscape, and on the arch, but less than on the wall) I already tried to play with seed, and with percentage of gradient and stuff, but nothing is changing here :( Did you face something like that? Or am I doing it wrong? Thanks a lot for your pedagogy :)
I've noticed in many videos that the octane scatter is similar to a basic cloner, so why not use it instead ? I get it there can be many advantages to using octane, but many people don't have octane so if you could like do a video using the stuff available inside cinema 4d by default that'd be great. Not saying that this video is not good, I can actually follow all this using the default c4d tools byt it'd still be great if people coud create all these amazing stuff without octane.
I tried using cloner for this but my machine crashes every time. Not enough CPU / Memory to process objects in a cloner. Octane uses the GPU to process these calculations so larger numbers of scatter objects are possible that aren't achievable with cloner.
Rhett Dashwood I've used cloner to clone about 1000 object, took a really long time to render but certainly did not crash :/ I have a 940mx dell vostro tho i5 How can yours crash but not mine XD I'm not saying you're lying but this is really odd xD
Rhett Dashwood I'd not go a million but I've a lot of time on my hand so I've gone upto 10K just murders the time xD. I'll try this one with the default c4d stuff because the only diff here ise the octane daylight. I'll see how it turns up
Theoretically yes, although you would need a tonne of RAM and powerful CPU. I have tried to replicate this process with a cloner and my machine crashes at 1/10 of the amount of objects needed.
3 years ago and still so nice tutorial, bravo
Glad you think so!
thank you Rhett! You're really helping us to be better. thanks!!!!!
Happy to hear that!

Thanks a lot Rhett! It's a great tutorial to use displacer with c4d and the scatter from octane.
Thank you rhett! love your tuts! You're helping me learn and get good at octane very quick!
Thanks a lot Rhett! I like your tutorial very much!Hope to see more your tutorial,it's very nice and useful.
very nice, thank you Rhett! Increasing Caustic Blur in PT should also help to clean the render up more quickly.
Awesome composition...looks soooo beautiful...
Great tut, thanks for sharing the link to the people scans! keep up the great work
Great tutorial! Thank you so much!!
Thanks so much for making time for sharing your knowledge.
What was your PC Specs when you done this piece ..?
a single GTX 1070 I think
Getting quite a lot of noise on the render, what settings need to be adjusted to fix this?
Yes, increase max samples.
Great tutorial and love all your videos and work. I'm curious to know your workstation. at the intro i see iMac but the tutorial made in windows. are you using Nvidia Quadro?
I have both Mac an PC. Using PC for Octane with 1080TI
Yes! Keep them coming
great tutorial, I use r20 without Octane (Mac), try to make similar rocky cave but unsuccessful.
So good...thanks!!!
Amazing tutorial !
When I add in the object it wont allow me to give it an axis or make it move?
Thanks bro !
can you this in Arnold i don't have a PC for octane
thanks i learn something in this!!
Great job
Scaling on textures of rock seems a bit off, but great tutorial overall! Thanks for sharing :)
WONDERFUL! Дивовижно!
Thank you for the tutorial!
very useful, thank you :)

'k nevermind, I just didn't put the type of the sphere to icosahedron, voilà!
nice work~`
you are great!!
Thank YOU!

Try cloning 10k - 1M objects.

lol
cheers!
Is this possible to achieve with Cloner object?
Theoretically yes, although you would need a tonne of RAM and powerful CPU. I have tried to replicate this process with a cloner and my machine crashes at 1/10 of the amount of objects needed.
I guess so.The polygon needed for one rock object is already insane.
hello everyone i just want to ask if it the same if i use corona plugin
Each render plugin is different
@@RhettMankind aand how can i well Lear corona plugin... I mean the source if you have and how i can apply what on the video but with corona !!!!!!!
@@RhettMankind thanks for answering^^
I don't know Corona. But a different software or plugin will require a different process. Although the Cinema 4D part will be the same
@@RhettMankind Hmmmm I get you, I'll try to find a way , thanks ^^
How can i make my layout like yours ?
How do you mean? I have a pretty basic setup.
Rhett Dashwood I mean the Octane icons over the object manager.
Ah, I see. I'll consider making it a quick tip video in the future
That would be great.
Which software this???
Cinema 4D with Octane Render plugin. Says in the title and in the video intro my friend.
#Rhett_Dashwood how to download this software
Help me
Both paid software. Google is your friend
Rhett Dashwood
Ok thank you for reply
you lost me at dropping in the sphere lmao. I generated a sphere and got a damn pyramid.
I love cinema 4d crashing and you last saved 20 minutes ago. :(
