MJ, i've got a tip for you, when you go to tokyo, fly to haneda airport not narita, it's a lot closer, 13 miles from downtown instead of 47 for narita, and only 700 yen by public transport!
thanks for taking us along on this trip, the photos you posted with Mt Fuji in the background are really nice; those sum up the trip. When you said you got emotional at Mt Fuji I have found that many people when they first experience seeing a snow capped mountain are overwhelmed by the beauty. There is something very moving about being in the mountains. I think you would enjoy the South Island of New Zealand; is it on your list of possibilities?
We have an Airport in Michigan (USA) which also closes. They will allow people in to stay overnight, but they are closed overnight, just security and airport people.
Meljean you can still wait and stay at the Narita airport outside before you really go out I slept there many of us with connecting flight tge following day❤
Coming and going from and to Narita via Nippori may be the cheapest way to travel between the airport and city, but it is also the most complicated and stressful. Much easier to take the Airport Limousine Bus from Ryogoku (there are other centers in Tokyo where the Airport Limousine stops, too, like Shibiya and Shinjuku) directly to Terminal 2 at Narita. Much more relaxed , just sit the whole way. Also, if you’re wondering why Narita closes and opens only at 7:15, it’s because back in the ‘70’s the Japanese government bulldozed their way into the Narita area without consulting the locals. The locals were enraged by the bullying tactics of the government, and for many years protested violently, even putting up towers at the end of the runway to prevent planes from taking off. It took quite a while to get Narita Airport built, and for about 10 years the airport had extremely tight security. As a compromise with the locals, the government agreed to close the airport down for most of the night.
I've stayed at the Hotel Nikko Narita 38 years ago with my family on our way to starting a new life in the US. Back then overnight stays at a hotel is included with the airfare if the connecting flight is the following day.
Hey Mj. Oh my. A 2-hr train ride to the airport, wow? Stressful but look at you getting around. Glad you made it to the airport and hotel. At least it’s a nice hotel room. Look at you. A few hours rest, on the bus and checked in and waiting. Yesss. In the air. And you still have your plush stuffed toy you won at the arcade. Proud of you Mj. You traveled well. See you next video.
@@ziggarillo if the train starts at 5 and the journey takes 2 hours from her original hotel and her flight isn't until 9 then there is 2 hours to play with, a big drama out of nothing!
*TURTLE WALK* 🐢 yes, narita international airport and even haneda airport closes at night (probably 9 or 11PM) and opens at 6AM their airports don't operate 24/7 maybe to save electricity note: i maybe wrong with this claim if you travel on a winter time and the airport is closed upon arrival, you'll be in for a COLD surprise 😅 TAKE NOTE: the train to narita airport immediately closes with a 3 to 5 minutes allowance (otherwise, passengers with big luggages & trolleys the move like turtle would most likely be closed off) once closed off, the train will travel for another 15 minutes or so, and they need to ride a specific bus to return to said terminal (another 15 minutes bus ride) careful when riding with their trains japan is very strict with their "on time" protocols unlike here in the philippines time is of essence, literally, in japan
@@ziggarillo in 2019 (pre-pandemic), haneda airport was totally closed before 6AM we arrived (via a pre-booked cab) at the airport around 5:30AM it was early spring we were shivering from the cold air outside 'coz the main gate was closed ❄️ a few minutes later, 2 foreign travellers arrived and they told us that the gate will be opened exactly 6AM true indeed, the gate was opened by a guard at 6AM there was no one inside except 1 guard we waited for around 30 minutes, shivering, quivering 😁 i really thought early bird catches worms in japan, instead early bird catches cold 😁 i speculate, our experience in haneda could probably be similar in narita
I love watching your videos MJ! So glad it all worked in the end and can’t wait to see where you fly to! Who would have known Narita airport not open 24/7!!
Thanks for sharing your dream trip to Japan ate MJ! Been watching your travel vlogs since last yr. Haha Japan is also my dream. For now i couldnt afford it but hopefully some other year I will whilst I’m still single. It would be good yo apply for a multiple visa there just when i want to visit their Spring, Summer, Autumn and Winter ❤
I would of thought that there would of been a layover lounge somewhere there. Guess not. You are a strong intelligent determine independent beautiful woman MJ. Proud of you. Much love ❤

Hello Meljean, i saw in one of your YT videos in the past, that you had a midEast meal like authentic shawarma and the like but I couldn't remember, the name of the restaurant. Can you still remember its name? Thank you.
You was given very bad information. There’s absolutely no reason to check out the hotel and check into another close to Narita!!!! Please people do your homework before traveling. I’ve done the same thing she has done 100 times. BUT I CAUGHT THE NARITA EXPRESS - Arrived at the airport before 6am and had three hours to checkin and catch my plane. Simple - NO DRAMA!
You did good and made to the airport safe. Little hectic but you will know the next you travel to Japan, Safe trip to your next destination. Thank You for sharing, travel safe and enjoy all you do
I hope you at least got to take a bath at that final Hotel and use some of their wellness products ? Maybe next time just arrive there in the afternoon, high-five one of the Hotel housekeepers for good cheer and blessing and enjoy a less stressful last night stay ^_ ^ ?? And yes - hopefully you had a paper towel to clean hands of the oily seaweed breakfast before working too much on the Notebook keyboard ! Very fine vlog and was interesting to watch... Hopefully you will return someday, po! I hope to visit Tokyo and beyond, someday too.
Yeah I think because of the limited space plus the price of land in the city center it is more common for hotels in those areas to be tiny. Also the toiletries in the airport hotel are not from the brand La Mer. It’s probably the name of the collection/smell 😊. The company/brand is Thalgo Japon.

Wow good idea I plan to go Japan for the first time

The Central entrance is open 24 hours a day. There are a couple of other entrances that close from Midnight to 3:30 AM.

Although the Narita Airport is not open 24 hours there are several areas in the airport to stay during the night if you have a plane ticket.
There is a 9H Capsule hotel at Narita airport that she couldve stayed in and it wouldve been cheaper.
Hope your safe, and all went well for you.
OZ now open for any tourist or traveler frm Phil as long as u can support urself its ok they process tourist visa for 3 days like my cousin
