I’m listening to this on Apple Podcasts, but wanted to come here and say that I love it when Dave Burke is on the podcast. He’s the kind of guy I’d love to work with.
Even if was true , how does that take away from his service ? And how does that take away from the podcast.? Is it an attack on his credibility? There's more confirmation on his credibility than questions regarding. I guess what I'm saying is .....who cares?
So now Erica says, "I heard this and I heard that" is now facts? Many of his team mates and colleagues work with him today. Is that the actions of men with real facts about willink? Quick facts: Ex team guys, admirals, vets, survivors family/team of monsoor and lee have no issue with willink and publicly associate themselves with him. You have to weigh these things out brother. If this guy can produce one receipt that's not "I heard or they said" I'll be the first to take him serious. Not too many serious guys will say "I don't want to be in the public making announcements" while going on every desperate for views podcast that will have him. None of it makes sense at the most basic levels. Do you know someone or something that makes this make sense? Other than the "quiet professional" on podcasts saying that he knows someone who knows someone.?
@@user-friendly-llc Not necessarily facts, but not disproven either. Those families may have only heard one story that was told. Same with the vets, admirals, other team guys, etc. or anyone not in that battlespace during Bruiser's tour. The letter from that Marine XO was pretty damning. Whatever the case may be, Jocko should still address it
@henryc7507 i hear you, and im not above trashing someone from the safety of my computer either. but there have been several times where guys have told their story on these incidents. Also when someone dies on the battlefield and there are survivors the survivors most of the time already have relationships with their family and go to the funeral and keep in touch with their parents, kids, wives. I guarantee Lee and monsoors family heard directly from them. The guy that carried Monsoor off the building has gone on podcasts. Now all the sudden this guy comes out of nowhere years later with days of our lives, he said she said drama stories. I need receipts before I bash a man like Jocko. This guy wants his name to come out of JWs mouth so bad I can smell it. We have 1 guy out of hundreds making these I heard claims. Until there's some proof, in my opinion, JW doesn't need to prove anything. He's already proven the opposite throughout the years in the public sphere. It reminds me of how the MMA and boxing guys call out the guys on top just for attention to get their name out there. IMO this is down right disgustingly disgraceful with no proof. Goes to show just because you're a seal doesn't mean you can't be stuck with the mindset you started high school with. I hope guys get together and start telling everyone how Eric got caught wearing a g string under his BDUs and someone found a d*ldo in his cage.
Why does that Eric Deming guy say Jocko is a bad leader that had his men kill inocent civilians, started Victory MMA with a drug dealer, and lied to Marc Lee's mom about what really happened to him? I hope that isnt teue but the dude seems genuine.
It’s tough to take one man’s word for it. If the innocent civilian thing was true, I’m sure there would be multiple others that would confirm that story.
Dave is talking about the F15C in the US Airforce. Israel used it as a multirole fighter before the US made the F15E. I don’t know why Dave didn’t clarify on this.
@erico5986 he only mentioned C one time and said eagle, which there are over 10 models. He also said they weren't used in afgan or Iraq, which is grossly false. This may seem trivial, but he took a hard stance in something that is false. If you are going to be that sure or the subject matter expert, you can't leave the low hanging fruit.
I’m not sure if Dave was being pedantic on purpose, but he did specifically say the Eagle did not fly missions in Afghanistan, not the Strike Eagle. Why he wouldn’t say something like the Eagle never flew because they aren’t multi role capable, but the strike eagle was used to great effect I have no idea.
In general/commercial aviation we’re familiar with the “dirty” configuration. Clean configuration is flaps up, gear up, and has some control inputs based on the plane. Dirty is the opposite, used for landing. It’s more common to say “deploy gear and flaps” or “landing configuration” but we definitely understand “dirty”
The "Jack of all trades..." quote is rarely said in it's entirety. The quote is "A jack of all trades, master of none, but often better than a master of one"
You are so right about decentralized command! In the Army, drone pilots are enlisted, so being a E4/E5 having to be an aircraft commander designated by the O5 and make real time decisions is juxtaposed to being scrutinized by at least 4 officers in real time and having an extra rung in the ladder of combat operations can be a tricky tightrope to walk.
So many attention seekers in the comments lately. Great podcast Echo, Jocko, and GDD. Podcasts with Dave going over aviation accidents would be awsome.
When is Jocko going to address the allegations that seem to be gaining momentum? This man has helped me accomplish alot in the past few years. I hope the reports arent true. Maybe task unit brusier wasnt full of heros like we were all led to believe.
Yes, he misspoke about alot regarding the f15. The f15 took over cas for an a10 squadron in Afghanistan too. Its a 50 year old fighter with many models and a flawless record. To think it can't do CAS and wouldn't be used in mult role operations is strange.
I think everything he was talking about was only about the Eagle, and not the Strike Eagle at all. I feel like it would be insane that a F/A-18 pilot wouldn’t know that the F-15 does have a ground attack variant. When Jocko asked about Afghanistan Dave should have explained the difference between a F-15C and F-15E
@helo4714 I don't think so because there's a hornet and super hornet, and he didn't distinguish the two.He just called it f18. The Eagle is a family that includes the C, E, and S models. They used to build them in my area. He was as definitive about that as he was that they didn't serve, and in both of those areas of operations, which for him to believe that is insane.
@@conorfiler5820yeah. If Jocko takes “extreme” ownership, we’ll have a firsthand witness. It’ll be interesting to see if he lives up to his own mantra.
I’m sure Jocko will address these allegations… or not. Like I commented on the GBC video these are imperfect human beings who dealt with a type of war they never experienced before and many combat leaders’ first time leading teams. They worked with what they had.

Good podcast. Was wondering if you would be interested in doing one on a certain topic. How about the touchy topic of leadership incompetence? Just saw the book, "On the Psychology of Military Incompetence," and I thought I'd mention it to you.
Losing respect for jocko after hearing what the navy seal community is saying about him and Chris Kyle. smh. They killed lost of innocent people and got lots of marines hurt by jockos group making soo many unnecessary enemies in the AO
You want to know what a multi role fighters equivalent is….. a spork! It does two things ok but neither one outstanding. A F-15C is a knife and cuts everything apart. Love ole Dave but an F-18 isn’t a match for an F-15 unless you force F-15 in to ROEs that hinder it. High speeds higher altitudes the 18 is going to die
The Eagle is still around because of friends in high places. We taxpayers paying their way decade after decade🤭. The becoming gradually less important US dollar will either cause us as a country to overall regress technologically and force a reliance on these archaic defense mechanisms (a prime example is Russian military) and/or downsize the US’s overall ability to project its power globally which in the end is not good for many other countries who like democracy. But China would be happy. Imo the F22 is superior to almost everything in the sky the F35 also bad ass, but in the grand scheme of things, and looking at how many of these newer high tech planes, aircraft carriers, combat ships are actually being built (and at the near insane time frame and prices at which they are being built) the days of the US maintaining its past and current level of supremacy seem numbered. Or we just become the bad guy 😂
His enthusiasm for the conflict.. I do get it. But it may have to do with the mindset of a Pilot, reigning from the sky, dropping dozens of enemies. Whereas boots on the ground, there's a different weight to that scale of Carnage

Dave is incorrect about the F15. It is a dual-purpose aircraft that has been used in both theaters for both roles.
Dave is talking about the F15C in the US Airforce. Israel used it as a multirole fighter before the US made the F15E. I don’t know why Dave didn’t clarify on this.

F15E Strike Eagle Variant.2 seater Air to ground. That’s what Jocko is thinking of. The F15C was always air to air. “ Not a pound for air to ground “

It's a good example of whst happens to noble ideas.
