LA's Best Group Ride | Pros show up and drop everyone
HTML-код
- Опубликовано: 6 мар 2023
- LA's favorite Sunday ride had a few hitters show up and we were there to film it. Sean Quinn (EF Education-EasyPost), Phil Gaimon (Jukebox Cycling), Cormac McGeough (Wildlife Generation), and Jonny Brown (Miami Blazers) quickly established themselves at the front. Taylor Dawson was there to provide footage from inside the group while Bucky and I were filming from the moto. On screen data from Sean Quinn.

Damn. This is how they should show all bike rides on tv. Great job.
fully seconded we need this level of coverage more often!
Agree…the standard tv coverage is boring. But maybe the pros on WT don’t want to reveal their power output
the fact phil ran that red light at a busy intersection but made a "watch this before i die" video is hilarious and ironic
My exact thought
Thats mild compared to Terry B or Lucas Brunelle, Phil needs to meet up and film a Hotline haha
monster track type shit🤣 this aint anything compared to what usually happens on the monstertrack
That’s a big intersection to run a red on. Wow.
That was pro level coverage! Loved the added "in group" camera footage... Eurosport should employ Taylor and get him to ride key parts of the TDF!
Nice job Safa was an awesome video
11:03 - big 👍for stopping on the RED
Yeah. It gives us cyclists a bad reputation when some people don’t care about traffic rules. We should follow them just as cars do so people accept cyclists on the road.
That was risky and probably had the drivers who witnessed it shaking their heads.
yep moronic not to stop i dont get it why do so many cyclist do this shit it is public road you wanna get fucked by car or something jesus just stop follow your local state traffic rules and do not put others in danger in this scenario more yourself
I'm pretty sure EF wouldn't like to see him running the lights.
yeah, for some reason I am one of those super visible rider in my region so if I end up run over the rule it got a huge ripple effect very fast.
Bro climbing is the most humbling thing in the world. I'm a big fella at 210lbs and I never shy away from hills, but I'm creeping up them. Watching y'all rip 15+ up climbs consistently is just wild to me. Always inspiring. Also, new King Gizz song for ya, Gila Monster 👌
Shit, they were at 20-22 mph on the 3-4% grade. I'm lucky to break single digits.
They weight 130lbs...
@@robrobinson1454 Lol right I was a little modest in my 15+. RIPPING it up these climbs!
Well, to be fair Quinn is a pro racer and Phil is an expro. I gotta say the rest of the pack isn't that far behind though
@@TheGazavman its still one of the hardest things to do.
370 for 30 minutes doesn't sound that crazy until you see the constant 500 watt surges. Mad impressive.
it is absolutely sick amount of powert to hold for 30 min for about 99% of fit, lean amateurs.
This is so sick safa. Its so well done. I really enjoy watching these videos dude. Bravo
Glad you enjoy it!
Nice video, Safa. Always a fun ride but you got the whole hit squad to show up and it was a blast that week.
you guys run a lot of stop signs and lights. How come?
@@govbradford Snitch.
@@govbradford lmao
Live data from the front of an elite group ride is awesome content and very humbling
this is your best content imo, bringing the action and sacred space of the group to life on camera. The only other RUclips that I feels captures this well is Terry B alleycat races, but this is on a whole new level. Please more local group rides and road races SAFA! Pray 4 Speed!
true. i always wonder why (or if) the riders on Terry's channel ride competively beyond NYC.. some of them should for sure.
I watch these videos and am humbled. Unbelievable sustained power on those climbs! Great camera work btw
I remember Saf's earlier videos and seeing where this channel came from and where it's at now to where it's going is amazing. Safa, thank you for bringing us GENUINE cycling content. Just dudes and ladies that love to ride bikes. A RUclips first in my opinion. Loving the work!
I've been watching your videos since forever - this, however, is a whole new level. It's great to actually be in amongst some top pros out riding and getting a sense of how fast they are through being only inches away. Loved the front and back cameras on the moto, and the Eurosport-style rider name-labels. Great filming by Safa and Taylor. Unfortunately you've now set your own bar pretty high -really want to see more of this style!
The cycling scenery is the only thing I miss about living in LA. Latigo, Stunt, Fernwood, Tuna all on my best climbing descending list.
Incredible production Safa. Pro teams / tv race coverage should produce these types of video for hard practice rides / group rides / race recaps.
I hope you guys who get to ride on roads and in conditions like these can fully appreciate that. We get to endure far worse roads and greater seasonal variations. Great video, exciting to watch. Impressive riding as well as footage.
so awesome, more of this please. Love the heavy hitters
world class footage, thank you safa again for another amazingly executed and organized video, also ad free. I felt like I was there
The whole SAFA team is great. Thank you for this wonderful content.
SAFA that the filming is FIRE bro! Keep up the awesome job! Love watching this type of riding.
Absolutely loved watching this! Thx for bringing us along.
This footage is absolutely incredible. Can’t take my eyes off it.
Bravo! This is amazing footage and wonderful to see so many folks!
THEEEE ride in LA! Awesome seeing PRO #'s on Mulholland. Unreal!
For the first 6 min I was like. How is he being able to close those gaps?? And then I saw the motorbike shadow... hahaha Great vid!
Oh thanks I am not the only one to not being completely dumb. He is clearly on a motorbike and delete the sound. What a fake.
Another epic SAFA video, great camera work capturing from all angles.
This is better coverage than a live pro event. Impressive work on the video.
Just flat out incredible! Thanks so much! Motivational too!
That climb looked so intense, great content Safa.
Thank you 🙌
Great vid. This was fun to watch. I often wondered what guys talk about when they're climbing that fast. Camera work and sound was top shelf.
The pace they have during the climbs are incredible! I usually go by reds if light to no cross traffic. Those guys straight rolled the dice on that lol
Excellent ride out with the boys, love it 👍👍👍
Awesome video! Great capturing both the effort and the scenery
What an amazing job you guys did with the video. Excellent work!
Insane! I would have suffered a heart attack in the first 20 secs of the initial climb!
One of my favorite videos along with the other Nichols and Wolfpack rides. Thanks SAFA!
Wow, wonderfull!!!! I really enjoy watching these video, from beginig to the end!!!!👌
Wow, holding 450-500w on that first climb is admireable! 💪
💉
I can’t imagine the type of shape you have to be in to be having a casual conversation at 178bpm lmao
Max heart rate is dictated by genes and age.
No big deal if your 25 years old.
i recall chimpings of such past decades decades, i recall a commentator once chimped of a rider in at least a pretty dam tenacious interval at a clip of a length "is he going to start breathing through his mouth yet" really through the ages (fifty seven and a half here) ive been pretty proficient at that, doing some massive intervals/sprints without gasping like a wild gibbon in heat, recalling else I've done the big sprints with the some big cats were i had heavy breathing and sometimes not so laboring of breath in the big sprints/intervals
Depends what your max HR is....
If it was 220 178 isnt that higgh.
If its 180 178 isnt talkable
@@karl8805 you printed "178 isnt that high" "178 isnt talkable", now my memories of else, decades decades ago i had some of the speedometers/odometers (past couple decades i havnt even had those), i never, never have used any of the heartmeters, i recall I've been dam good at pushing some pretty fast strong stuff (high gears, high cadences) and I've been one that has been dam proficient/efficient at not gasping mouth open like a wild gibbon, at certain pretty dam fast strong clips, yeh i too have had some gasping mainly during my elite hill sprints and elite crit sprints we did, im poking that some that have had the very higher heart rates quite possible could still at least murmur some bit of talks, for mere example, at said heart rates, likely some have managed to yell "hold your fucking line!!!!"
Fantastic ride, lovely to watch💪🔥
It bummed out watching Phil run the full red light!
11:08 Good job Phil Gaimon by running that red light. That's how you immediately throw the last bit of respect for cyclists out of the window.
Go and race your bike if you can't stand clicking out of the pedal for some of the most obvious traffic rules.
No one cares. Join the police academy and go patrol the stop lights, Karen. You are a true warrior of justice!
@@roadcyclist1 I race my bike, so I don’t need to do this kind of stupid actions. I organize a race myself, so I enable racers to go full out in a safe way. On top of that, I’m a captain of my bike group. I make sure they stay safe and I cross roads when I know the whole group can make the crossing. Come and race in Belgium and show me how much of a man you are. You”ll be crying and praying to finish your first race here, and running lights will get you between 6 planks quite rapidly.
I have lived in la for a few months and did this ride. I was decently fit about a 4 w/kg guy and this ride is a ripper... absolutely crushed me
Love the commentary from Phil towards the end. This was such a good vid!
woof, that's so rad. love to see the heavy hitters at the front after seeing everyone else putting in solid work - really contextualizes how much of a beast that climb is (i'm local and have almost had a heart attack on nichols more than once, at way fewer watts than these guys)! love to see phil gaimon just blasting up. rad video and coverage! thanks for posting!
Dude....Intense. Went really well with this week's FTP workout on the smart trainer... Hope to see more of these. Great to ride to indoors bro! Thanks $1M
More videos like this SAFA. 🤩
watched this twice whilst doing my vo2 workout for the day. thanks!
Nice work!
best bike ride I ever seen! loved it!
Damn! That was nuts!! What a great video!
Great content would love to see more of this style
Great video content some of the best I’ve seen
This is just FANTASTIC
Damn already got my work out in for the day! I feel exhausted after watching this 😂
Brilliant ride!👌
That was great to watch, awesome riding 👌
Kudos to Taylor for keeping up with this freight train that was running full steam.
Skipped every pull lmao
Wowsers! What a rip. Also, Phil is just as funny off his channel as he is on it. Made me chuckle.
Nice to see some love for the rim brake bikes.
Cool video and towards the end I can almost feel the pain as I watch the pack slowly disappear in front of me.
This was a great filming job!
Wow. Amazing vid. Golden Era of RUclips cycling vids?
8:01 - but discs and aeroness....
This is awesome, excellent work on the shoot!
this type of vid was rad. Love how they were mic'd up.
I’ve never been worried about someone intentionally driving into me until these days. I’ve done many rides up and down the California coast line (all the way!) and across Europe. Solo rides, group rides and I think now it’s good to have a vehicle alone for protection on these rides.
Be safe!!!!
Good job guys keep going!!!
Amazing idea!!
Steel tubes still a reliable standby. Grew up surfing but in my late 20s I got fed up with fighting for crumbs. Got into cycling because as soon as you step out of your door, you can have as much as you can handle.
Attacking throughs street lights is sickk!!
The post-ride banter is peak cycling
Nice appearance from the Mitchell twins in the group. Getting good boys 🤙
Awesome vid 👍
cool group of guys, rock on!
Woo! I got a cameo at the end! 😂
Ladies and gentlemen, the moment has finally arrived! We are pleased to announce the winner of the Oscar for Best Group Drop Ride Cinematography.
And the Oscar goes to... drumroll... "Nichols Group Ride | Everyone Is Getting Dropped Today"
This was a beautiful video
Haha, I started watching only from few minutes into the race on the TV (so without reading the video description), thinking, wow SAFA is very fit managing to close those gaps like nothing… Then seeing 400W-500W for some minutes and almost 190bpm I started being suspicious, I mean he is fit but this is slightly different level :D unreal…
Amazing video. !!!
👑Great safa👑
Awesome 🔥💯
love training ride videos!
Awesome vid from the moto perspective
18:16 What a savage attack by the guy on the red S-Works
Absolutely insane numbers
dostum bu videolarinin devamini bekliyoruz safa
saatlerce videolarini izliyoruz hep birlikte
wow thanks for this
It's actually insane how strong Phil is at his age 37 and not on tour anymore.
👴🏻⚡️💪🏻
37 is not old, much less when keep training and in shape,
@@JOSEANTONIO1979 you just don’t see a lot of 37 year olds on tour. Also, he’s carrying the load with a current tour professional. I get his training load is probably just as high but his power is impressive
dude is doped out of his mind why do you think he was blackballed from pro cycling 5 years ago
@@KushPizzaSleep ? What lol? He has never done any kind of hgh or doping. He pride himself on being natural. He literally has a bar of soap tattooed on himself because he’s clean
Absolute insanity! The power numbers!!!!!!!!!!!!!11
Sick. Can't believe that was only 28 minutes of riding. Felt like 2 hours. Hell, I went through two powerbars just watching. 😂
a brilliant watch.
solid break, those lights were stressful tho :D
13'10 Casually removes jacket with no hands on the bars at 30mph 😂👍
its easier to ride a bike without your hands on the handlebar if you are fast
Best trainer vid ever. Need a warm down after that
Incredible,Phil the Drill!👍
Wow. Welcome home, Sean.
what software do you use for the data overlays?
If the group didnt shatter pushing power numbers like that, I would have totally cried.
Kick ass bike training video!!!
That’s some good stuff .
